[...] These guys were all over Badwater Basin. And I think I know how they must have felt. I only wandered about for the smaller part of an hour and seemed to be being cooked inside. What a grim way to go, I imagined: flying through the heat and, either setting down from exhaustion and there finding nothing but deathly salt, or having the exhaustion kill you right in flight. Their bodies were all pretty much intact, too, since no predator would run out and eat them, I guess. [...]
