Summary: Having recently been hired at a new firm, your life has been pretty crazy for the last two weeks, until it all catches up to you. Luckily, your fiancé is there to force you to take a moment to relax and escape from the stress of it all.

Warnings: Reader faints, I'm not well versed in fainting/passing out so probably inaccurate, slight angst, FLUFF, no use of Y/N, lmk if I missed anything!

Despite being in a very good place in your life, at least in your opinion, you had always felt the need to do more. You supposed that's part of the reason you were so drawn to your now-fiancé in the first place. He had taught you how to pause and take a deep breath, even forcing you to do so at times. At least, he usually did.

The last two weeks had weighed heavily on you both. Emmett had recently been promoted to partner at his current law firm, and you had just been hired at yours. In the midst of all the chaos, neither of you had time to truly take a breath.

So, when you were working at your tiny desk in your shared bedroom and suddenly slumped over, Emmett was, naturally, suspicious.

"Babe? Everything alright," Emmett asked. When he didn't get a response from you, he moved over and nudged you gently, just enough to distinguish if you were prancing him or not.

You startled, suddenly awake. "What? Did something happen?"

"Yeah," your fiancé responded. "You just passed out."

You didn't respond for a moment, processing what you just heard before muttering a simple, "Oh," and turning to get back to your paperwork.

Emmett grabbed you by the wrist, oractically dragging you out of your chair and onto the bed. "Absolutley not. You literally just passed out from overworking yourself, you're not just going to go back to work. Stay there, I'll be right back," he stated simply, walking out of the room.

He returned a short time later, a cup of tea in each hand. He handed in to you and passed you the book you were in the middle of reading. "Here. Tonight, we just relax. It's been a stressful couple of weeks and we deserve it," Emmett said, sipping his tea.

"But-" you stammered. "This is important, It's a new job, with lots of room to grow, and I need to make a good impression!"

"Yes, and it can wait until tomorrow," Emmett said firmly, pulling you back as you tried to get back to your desk. "You can't do good work if you're so tired you pass out at your desk."

"Touché," you grumbled reluctantly, settling back into the bed and opening your book.

For the first time in what felt like decades, the two of you fell asleep together, holding each other as close as you could.

You just finished your last College final, and your boyfriend might be a little excited about it.

"So... how were your final, um, finals?" You heard your boyfriends voice from behind you.

"Great, I guess," you said. "But I guess we'll have to wait and see." You finally felt all the stress leave your body as Emmett Forrest, the love of your life, slung his arm around your shoulder.

"Well this calls for celebration, I was thinking a nice dinner at that place you like downtown?"

As you walked home and unlocked the door to your shared apartment, it became increasingly clear that your boyfriend had just a little too much to drink. You plopped yourself down on the small couch, and got the wind knocked out of you when your tipsy boyfriend followed... landing directly on top of you.

"Hi," you giggled at Emmett.

Instead of responding, he just looked at you, seemingly taking in as much of you as he could. "Did you know how gorgeous you are?"

You chuckled, he was always like this when he was drunk. You were surprised, however, when he just kept talking.

"I'm so lucky to have you, Y/n, you have no idea." Oh god, he was making puppy dog eyes at you now.

"I think I understand pretty well, considering everything you've done for me," you responded quietly. These moments felt private, like talking too loud would shatter it.

"Marry me?"

You felt your face flush, and you watched Emmett's pale. "Shit. I... um- I meant to ask you um... after graduation."

You buried your face in your hands, it was all you could do to stop yourself from just staring at him with your mouth hanging open.

"I'm so sorry." Your boyfriend sounded so sad, so you looked up at him to see him nervously start pacing the tiny living room. He looked back at you and froze, trying to determine your expression.

You laughed. Emmett's face looked like he couldn't decide whether to celebrate or just walk out the door. But you hardly noticed through the tears clouding your vision from all the laughing.

You made your way over to your purse and pulled out a ring. Suddenly, Emmett realized why you were laughing; you were planning on proposing to him, too. He burst out laughing, eventually landing both of you back on the couch.

"Well, I guess you have your answer." You whispered to him, sending you both back into your fit of giggles.

"Yeah," he said. "I guess I do."
