What even is the state of Steven Universe shipping at this point? (Note I'm not going to talk about canon ships like Rupphire or Converse)

Like, Spinearl is a thing now (idk where it came from but I'm fine with it). I'm almost certain the ship'll kinda fall off the map once more episodes start coming out and we have other things to worry about, since there isn't much substancial to keep it around.

Shipping Blue and Yellow Diamond used to be pretty big if I remember correctly? But no one's talked about it lately and most of the fandom doesn't seem to like the diamonds at all.

Pearlmethyst was a little bit dead but the movie gave it some spark back. Again, not sure how long that'll last since we just have a tiny spark of shipping hope left in the fans there, not enough to keep the fire burning, though holding out some hope isn't completely out of the question.

Since everyone hates Pinkie now (as we probably should tbh), Pearlrose has been beaten into the ground with a basenall bat and I don't think it's getting back up anytime soon tbh. Many people have abandoned ship. Only time will tell how long it will take the remaining holdouts to follow.

Mystery girl is MIA for the time being, so the Mystery Pearl shippers are silent in the fandom, though inside sources claim there's still hope among the shippers for whenever Mystery Girl shows back up!

Amedot and Lapidot. Those are odd. Cause They're like, the biggest players, and they're both very vocal, and very quiet. Fanart and fics are posted in a steady stream, though not with the strength you'd expect from such major ships. The two still seem to hold disdain for their counterparts, however, an unlikely solidarity seems to have formed, as arguments have lost most of their venom, and the two hold out as some of the only ships that can be considered both plausable and somewhat alive. The fans of both ships have always been persistant though, haven't they? Both are relatively silent, but you can still find the shippers everywhere, and so we can only assume they're alive, waiting dormant.

And there ends my summary of the only non canon ships that have any presence.

But yeah..this fandom in general isn't as big as it used to be but not by such a significant amount that would cause this. Any ideas on what lead to the deaths or at least silence of ships that used to make up the majority of posts.

my absolute favorite part of tumblr is how much you guys hate symbolism and like to pretend english teachers made up symbolism and authors never intended to write it. symbolism is what saves books from being boring and lifeless. i need you guys to understand how lazy and childish you look when you complain about having to find symbolism in books made for finding symbolism
