The letter was sent by Sunghoon almost two weeks ago and there was no response from y/n. Was he too soon? Sunghoon walked down the sidewalk, the sound of snow crunching beneath his feet was loud.

He wore a black sweater with a matching scarf and black jeans. He hands covered with mittens and were stuffed in his pockets. Screams could be heard in a distance as children played in the snow. “Why hasn’t she replied?”, he muttered under his breath.

Sunghoon had spent his off day running errands before eating lunch with Jungwon. There was no surprise when Jungwon brought up the letters. He should’ve known better than including Jake. But he felt like he needed an outside opinion.

His thoughts continued to consume his mind as he got closer to his apartment building. Sunghoon’s eyes were glued to ground, olbly shifting upwards when a car sped past him. The wind brushing across his face and his hair flying in his face.

He eyes followed the car until it disappeared, only for a figure to catch his attention. As he got closer he could see a more detailed view of the figure. A cream colored jacket and jeans, he squinted trying to make out more.

The figure looked around as if they were looking from something. Sunghoon just kept walking, he got closer by the second. Long black hair, being closer now he could tell it was faux locs. A warm chocolate skin tone. “Just like y/n”, he thought to himself. Sunghoon never notice but he was walking faster.

The figure turned to face his direction as soon he was close enough to see her. The image of her face that night flashed in his mind, her perfect two toned lips and tear eyes now replaced with expressionless eyes.

Her eyes bored into him as the cold wrapped it’s arms around them both. They both stood there, a few steps apart. No words were spoken with the mouth but emotions conveyed with the eyes. Her heart raced as she took him in, he was much taller and had a more mature look to him.

The return address ont he envelope came in helpful when you made the last night decision to come here. Without telling him.

You were scared but his words became stamped onto your heart. The world around you both kept moving but your hearts slowed and beat in sync for that moment.

“Love”, he whispered; just enough for her to hear. “Y/n”. His voice cracked as he took her beauty which he had long to see for the last years.

Chapter One: The Red Journal

It's only 2:15 in the morning. Yoongi sat in his usual spot in the back of the ramen shop eating his usual order of creamy pork belly shin. The crispy pork had a nice crunch, and the broth warmed his chest and stomach in the cold winter month of December.

The little ramen shop wasn't busy, just the same faces Yoongi had seen when he came here when he hit a mental creative block in his music writing. Oftentimes times Yoongi would people-watch, taking in insignificant details of the other customers he could somehow use in his music.

Like the old man with ink-stained fingers, Yoongi wonders if the old man is a kind of comic creator.

Then there was the young man slurping down his noodles as he studied for some kind of test.

Yoongi noticed a red journal sitting in the center of a table a few feet away from him. He looked around to see if the owner of it was anywhere. No one was at the serving counter or at the tea machine. The little ramen shop didn't have restrooms, so you had to use the restroom at the 7-Eleven across the street. So he thought maybe the owner could be there.

By the time Yoongi was done eating, he paid for his meal at the serving counter and bought a strawberry mochi ice cream. He walked by the table with the red Journal; he stood there for a moment staring at it. The owner never came for it.

So Yoongi took it to the serving counter.

“Someone left their journal here,” Yoongi said to the cook.

The middle-aged man looked at the journal and then at Yoongi.

“Okay?”

“Do you have a lost and found?”

“Does it look like I have one?”

“Can I leave it here in case the owner returns?”

“It'll get thrown out with the trash.”

Yoongi put the red journal in his messenger bag. He gave a tight lip smile to the cook and left.

The red Journal sat in front of him on his desk. He stared at the Nirvana sticker on the cover. He opened the journal to see if there was information so he could return it to the owner.

Yoongi reads the pretty handwriting, and the name written inside Y/N with hearts drawn around your name. There was no other information, so he flipped to the first page.

There's a faint hint of coffee that hits his nose and a coffee ring in the upper corner of the page with a movie ticket taped down from some French movie you saw back in July.

Yoongi read the first page of your journal. At first, he thought it would be crossing into someone else private life: what if there's some really deep personal shit here?

But Yoongi was a little nosey about who you, Y/n, might be.

June 1, 2023

I and my friend Namjoon ate at this Chinese restaurant above my apartment building. It's a small little one run by a husband and wife. I had sweet and sour pork with steaming white rice and Namjoon had Wonton soup. Namjoon thinks it's a little childish that I made a wish on my rice. I never told Namjoon this was something I always did with my grandma. She'll cook some rice for us on my birthdays, sprinkling a little sugar and adding some butter, before digging in we made a wish on the rice. I know it's nothing special to some people, but for me, brief memories like that with my grandma felt like hot chicken noodle soup on a bitter winter day warming your insides. So yeah, I'll continue wishing on bowls of rice, just to keep that memory of my grandma alive when she wasn't.

Yoongi's fingers trailed over each sentence until he was at the end where he saw a little chibi drawing at the bottom of the page with two people, a younger girl and an elderly woman with bowls of rice in front of them and scribbled above their heads read: Granny and Me.

His chest tightened a bit, and he batted his eyes to keep the tears away. It reminds him of him and his grandpa when Yoongi was a small boy, they would always go fishing, and Yoongi and his grandpa would wish on dragonflies so they could catch the biggest fish. They never did though and it never disappointed Yoongi when he caught something even smaller, it was the moments he spent with his grandpa that made these little memories special.

So Yoongi could understand you, wanting to keep that part of your grandma alive.

All he can do is try to imagine what your smile must have been like when a bowl of hot rice was placed in front of you, did you close your eyes? Or did you thank whatever God you believed in, if you even believed in one?

He was curious about how many wishes you made over the years, what you wished for, and did any of them ever come true?

Only from the first page of your journal Yoongi could tell you were someone with a pure heart.

Maybe you saw the world a little differently, like a child did when they first become curious about the world around them.

Maybe you were nice. Maybe you weren't nice enough. Maybe you smiled too much. Maybe you smiled too little. Maybe you cried easily when someone slightly raised their voice to you. Maybe you didn't cry at all.

A lot of maybes Yoongi thought about. Just a couple hundred words that Yoongi read he wanted to know who you were as a person. That all the maybes he had could be answered.

He flipped through the pages of your journal, just scanning over the pages. Some pages were torn out, with scraps of paper left behind from where you ripped them out.

Yoongi counted 96 pages with pieces of you scattered throughout the stained pages, folded corners, pretty handwriting, and every page smelled of lilacs.

a/n: the idea for this was random because I wanted to buy a journal and I'm like, what if there was a story about a journal and two people? I asked my friend who it should be about. It was either between Namjoon and Yoongi. And Yoongi made it. I may or may not do a Namjoon version. 😭

For a good portion of the story, we only will see Y/n through her journal and how Yoongi may see her.

There is a light sprinkling of rain as you scurry across the parking lot to Eunseok's car. You're grateful he can pick you up from work, since he has practiced in a few hours.

The warm air of the car hits your skin. It felt nice being out of the icy rain. Eunseok takes a towel from his Nike duffle back in the backseat and hands it to you. He realizes how you look at it and then laughs, telling you: “Don't worry, it's clean.”

You wipe the rainwater from your arms and face. In the few seconds of being in the car, you couldn't help but feel this heavy energy coming from Eunseok. You've been around him long to know that something is off.

The touch of your cool hand on the back of his neck makes him crumble a little. You play with some of his hair. The rain gets heavier and it's the only sound between the two of you.

“Something is the matter.” You softly whispered. Your thumb strokes the side of his neck.

Eunseok crumbles a little more at your words.

“It's work.”

“I'm listening.”

He lets out a broken laugh while staring straight ahead out the windshield as the rain hits it. Eunseok wants to pour all his worries into you.

How his body aches from all the dance practices. How he's afraid he wouldn't do as well for RIIZE's upcoming performance.

And when Eunseok doesn't say anything for a while, you speak again. “Hey, whatever is bothering you, just place it in my hands.” You smiled a little with your hands held out.

This makes Eunseok smile. So he places his worries into your hands. You rolled down the window and chunked his worries out and quickly let the window up so you wouldn't get wet by the rain.

“How do you feel?”

“Lighter.”

You pinch his cheek making him laugh. “Like I told you a thousand times, Eunseok, if you ever need to talk, I'm always here any time of day. No matter how late always come to me with your worries.”

You were never selfish with yourself. Always giving others tiny pieces of you. And Eunseok sometimes wishes you were a little selfish with yourself. He has more of you than anybody else would ever have. Then again, maybe he is a little selfish himself — always accepting the pieces of you and never refusing.

Eunseok gets you home safely, but before you even get out of the car, he reaches over the console and grabs your wrist, stopping you from fully getting out of his car.

“More worries?” you asked.

“I... I was wondering if I could come over after pract–”

“The door will be unlocked. I'll have your favorite food and drink ready when you get here.”

And damn Eunseok doesn't know what he did in his past life to deserve a friend like you.

Everyone has things that bring them some kind of comfort. And you were Eunseok's comfort person. To him, you are like a tiny, cozy, warm home in the winter that smells of sugar cookies and pumpkin spice.

He gives your wrist a little squeeze before letting go. He doesn't drive away yet until you're inside your place and you flip the lights on.

Eunseok is sitting on the sofa with you. You and he are binge-watching a show on Netflix. It felt nice to not to do anything after practice, but just to sit with you felt even nicer.

“Can I cry with you?” Eunseok asks, his voice is so low you almost didn't hear him over the TV.

You grab the remote from the arm of the sofa and paused the TV.

“Yeah, of course, if that's what you need, sweetie.” You scoot closer to him on the sofa.

Eunseok lays his head on your shoulder. He then takes your hand and intertwines his fingers with yours. His eyes sting a little and his nose starts to run.

“More worries?”

Eunseok nods. You placed your free hand out. “Let's get rid of them, okay?”

“Okay.”

And with each worry, Eunseok tells you what's on his mind as he places his worries into your hand. Once your hand is full, you blow all his worries away like a dandelion.

He cries into your shoulder. It's a gut-wrenching cry, but a much-needed one. You stroke the top of his head. You knew being an Idol was a heavy load, but you didn't think of the overwhelming amount of stress it came with.

Eunseok couldn't live his life without people online criticizing him over the smallest of things. He either wasn't doing something right or said something that got taken out of context.

People are cruel.

But at least you made Eunseok feel a lot safer.

When Eunseok is all cried out. You wipe his tears away and clean up his face. Then it's the warmest hug from you that he's engulfed in that he could finally breathe easily.

You gently sway him in your arms and kiss his forehead. “How do you feel now?”

“I feel empty now. But in a good way tho. Like after letting everything out, there is nothing else left there that makes me feel like I'm drowning under the weight of my worries with my lungs burning for air.” he said. “And I want to thank you in so many ways, Y/n.”

“Oh, Eunseok, you don't have to thank me–”

Your eyes widen when he suddenly captures your lips in a tender kiss. Closing your eyes you melt into your sofa. Your body is lightly buzzing all over. You feel Eunseok smile against your lips.

“One thank you down. A million more to go.”
