All the attempts to ignore the noise go to waste—the bangs still rudely pulsate in your skull. The floor beneath your crossed legs vibrates to the rhythm of your neighbour’s hectic life.

This is it. This is fucking it.

You’re not usually the type to curse, especially with your legs in a lotus pose; and you’re not the type of person to confront people about your indignation, but this is it. How many times the thumps of music rippled through your bubble of serenity? That’s right, countless of times. And how many times your ears have witnessed the thuds and squeaks of a bed on the other side of your wall? Unimaginable number of times. And all that at 9:30 pm? Outrageous!

Your final perusal of his room after your thorough vacuuming and dusting had left you satisfied and you’d just started to make his bed, narrowly restraining yourself from face planting on the thousand threadcount Egyptian cotton sheets, when a gleam from the back of the headboard had caught your eye.

Now you grunted in exertion, extending your arm as far as it would go while channelling Elastigirl from The Incredibles. Your fingertips barely kissed the cool surface of the mysterious shiny thing residing beneath the maknae’s bed.

Being Bangtan’s dorm maid, this certainly wasn’t the first time you were contorting into weird positions to keep their humble abode spic-n-span. You had lost count how many times you had found rotting cheetos behind Namjoon’s work desk or condom wrappers shoved into weird places in Yoongi and Jin’s room. After finding guitar picks inside the toothbrush mug in Taehyung and Namjoon’s bathroom you’d stopped asking questions.

Not that anybody was there to answer for themselves anyway. The boys had never seen you in person, what with you working your magic only on weekdays and only when they were out and about. You had received specific instructions from the company to endeavour to avoid running into them. Emphasis on endeavour. Apparently, good cleaners work in silence and anonymity.
