I am sure this was brought up before but there is no fucking way Lorelai had ever met guys like Jess before. Not a chance. When would she meet them? And where? She went from living in a privileged WASP-y bubble of one percenters to living in Stars Hollow, which is a very safe town where stealing a garden gnome and drawing a chalk outline on the sidewalk is considered the biggest and most dangerous crime ever. Essentially she went from one safe and cushy place to another and never lived in a dangerous and crime-ridden place like New York, so where would she meet a guy like Jess?

I think she probably misunderstood Jess and how fucked up his life was exactly. Like even in her own privileged bubble she grew up in, she must have met rebellious guys, but that is a Logan type of rebellion. That is: "ugh my parents are making me go to private school and boarding school in Switzerland, and then to an Ivy League so that I can later get a boring job in finance like they did, I hate them" kind of problems, not: "my father abandoned me, my mother is drunk, my stepfather of the day stole all my money and I don't know how we're going to pay the bills this month" kind of problems.

And don't even get me started on "I know what it's like to be misunderstood by your parents" boo hoo Lorelai, your parents were mad because you got pregnant at 15, that's not the same as Jess's parents just abandoning him for no reason other than they just don't feel like being parents.

Are you Team Jess or Team Logan?

On paper, I've always been "Team Jess". I have waivered on my stance on Logan.

But honestly, I look back at both relationships and see the nuance. They weren't all bad. They weren't all good. I think they both had their place. I don't think Logan was bad for Rory at all. I just think there are times their goals clearly don't align. That being said, they have the healthiest communication of Rory's three romances. But that makes sense given they're older. They're like, what? 19 and 22 when they start dating?

Whereas, I acknowledge there is a huge communication issue with Jess overall. And there's no doubting the parallel between "Kyle's bedroom" and the first time Rory and Logan hook up where he asks her like 5 times "Are you sure?"

Yet, when Jess and Rory are good...damn, they're so good. He's always so damn supportive. He clearly cares. I think if he didn't have so many issues of his own, they could've made it.

But then you have Logan turning Rory's Yale graduation into a moment about HIM, suddenly changing their plans and not understanding why she didn't want to marry him...which is so out of character!

So, I mean...I don't know. I'm starting to think I ship them both? But specifically for their time period? Who knows.
