Listen. The urge to go through every single panel of this issue is so real. There's so much to talk about for every single one of them, so many things to notice. But TDLR???

I don't want to sound biased. Because I know the others need it too. But Sonic needs FUCKING therapy.

Idk how many times I've said this but I will continue to say it until the day I die (because I just know this ain't happening in the least 🙃). He's gone through so much shit, and the two faces he makes that shows this???

These are faces we never see. Ever.

One genuinely looks like he's about to snap. The other shows exactly just how much what she said, and what happened, truly affects him. He's so shocked and horrified. Again.

I will reiterate again that I know they all need therapy. Words can't describe what I feel about what happened to Surge and Kit yet, except for "what the fuck" and "oh my god". They're gonna need their own post about just how fucked up they are (and how I now personally hate Starline too for everything he did to these children). I don't intend to make this too long, and since Sonic's my favorite, he's gonna be the first-- not to sure I'm making one of these for Surge and Kit though so, yeah, haha. Maybe this will sound biased idk ajshdhhs 😅

I want to start off by saying that what Surge said to him is definitely fucking with him big time. Like imagine almost your whole personality, your whole life, has been about fighting for yourself and other's freedom.

Only to find out that you can't give someone that freedom simply because you're living.

He can't offer Surge that kind of peace. Maybe by some miracle (which happens often so this potentially might happen), he finds a way, and maybe he's probably not discouraged about it. But who knows where they even went now? How would Sonic even go about trying??

Furthermore, Sonic was clearly not happy when Eggman was mentioned. Furthermore, he almost drowned, which is a big fear for him (obviously shown in this issue alone), and practically watched Surge like. Idk come close to dying or something

The way they framed it looked like she freaking di e d (I even thought she did but she just passed out but just. good lord). Even if she didn't, his face says so much, and he's tongue tied. There's no quips, no retorts at Eggman, he doesn't have the energy to continue. He couldn't even pull himself and Tails up.

And the way the Wisps we're always clinging onto him?? Could be partly for their own support, but could also be trying to comfort Sonic too. He doesn't even seem to mind it at all either.

I feel like it's going to take just a little bit more before Sonic finally snaps and let's everything out. Just some little bit. Even though we most likely won't get that, if anything the next issue he'll act like nothing ever happened again. 🙃 Just wishful thinking, I guess.

He's so tired. And this was just so much. And I'm genuinely still not really sure what to do about it. 😭

Okay but like...

Sonic. Just standing there. He's been... quiet recently. Not in the way that he always is but in the way he holds himself. It's strange. Concerning. Tails had been able to tell something was off with him, but he couldn't tell what (considering he was stuck in some sort of... digital hammer space of some kind, it made enough sense).

He calls to his brother, and the hedgehog stiffens and turns around, then smiles. His joints pop as he walks over and Tails wonders,

Knuckles spotted the hedgehog and called his name, though he didn't answer. Figuring the wind covered his voice, he got just a few places away, calling his name again. He didn't answer.

He looked at the static red pattern that marred his pelt, swarming and stretching unnaturally across his body. It made him feel sick just looking at it. How could he stand that?

"Sonic?" Closer now, he noticed how...oddly he was standing. Sort of hunched like he was tired, but also immensely still. Like he wasn't breathing. The fluctuating pattern swarmed almost angrily about his features, and he didn't even twitch.

Knuckles grew closer, and swore he heard clicking. What?

"Hey. Blue?" He rested beside the azure, and his breath caught.

The unnatural effect had settled over one eye, it's iris glaring a bright, almost iridescent red. It was like his super form, but sickly, infinitely worse somehow. And the clicking... Sonic's mouth was mostly still save for the repetitive movement of his tongue, "tik, tiktik krr"

"Sonic." The echidna called again, walking in front of him. He didn't respond, only stared, right through his body. Knuckles didn't like that.

"krrrrut'ik tik krrr tiktiktik -"

"Sonic!" He finally reached the frozen gaian, and the gain finally blinked. Once, twice, then a deep shudder as his body straightened up.

"Huh? Knux?" He would have deflated if that were physically possible at the moment.

"Finally! What's up with you?"

"What? Can't I enjoy a sunrise every once and a while?"

"The...?" The echidna frowned, looking out to the horizon where Sonic had been staring. There was nothing but the sea and clouds and sky. The sun was actually far overhead already.

"Oh! Well would you look at that."

"You. Have been standing there for five hours."

"Seems that way, yeah?" Sonic picked up a leg, joints cracking noisily.

"Ow."

I think they should pull a Tangled in KH4. For fun :3

So yeah…..I feel like I should have noticed this years ago but. Even though I already knew Riku was the light in this scene in ddd, that brings Sora to a happy memory and almost wakes him up: link

I just noticed the other day that after he defeats the Anti-Black Coat Nightmare, they literally show Riku standing right where the light appears in front of Memory’s Skyscraper. It’s not even hidden. These two scenes are happening simultaneously (although the sense of time is altered because they are in two different dreams).

It’s completely unambiguous when put side by side. Riku is the light. And then if that’s not enough proof, when Sora is experiencing the memory, Ansem SoD suddenly appears and Sora gets blasted out of the memory.

This always confused me a bit but I didn’t think about it much. But it makes sense when you remember these scenes are happening at the same time. Right after Riku sees Memory’s Skyscraper, Ansem SoD starts talking to him, and then Riku gets sucked down into a pool of darkness. This is the moment Sora gets yeeted out of the pleasant memory.

So anyway, if you needed more concrete proof that Riku is the light, here it is. It also pretty heavily implies that Riku was actually, literally there in some way in Sora’s dive to the heart in kh3- for reasons we don’t know yet.

 In ddd, Sora saw him as a light rather than as his body presumably because Riku was inside Sora’s heart/dreams at a different layer. So…what was he doing in Sora’s heart in kh3…
