Self-advocacy is so important! Autism has such a negative view because of organizations like Autism Speaks! Now autism is starting to be viewed more positively because we autistics are speaking for ourselves and showing what being autistic really means.

As an autistic something that really irks me is when people call autism a 'superpower'. Sure, it can make us more proficient in some areas compared to neurotypicals, however, life is harder when you are living in a world that doesn't make sense nor caters for our needs. I know most mean no harm by saying it, but it comes across as patronizing, akin to calling different types of disabled people 'special'.
