A Twisted Wonderland Fanmade Event, based on my Scarabia Lifeguard AU ♡

DISCLAIMER: I have been working on this event for a while now, and ask that everyone please read this post before participating (stay safe everyone! 🫶)

⋆⁺₊⋆ Event Summary:

A family friend of the Asim's invites Kalim and Jamil to attend the grand opening of their new pool, Iago's Paradise. Named after its parrot mascot, the pool is inspired by the Scalding Sands, and made to look like a desert oasis. Excited, Kalim invites some of their classmates to join them, only to arrive and discover... the pool is short staffed!

Not wanting the grand opening to be cancelled, you agree to work at Iago's Paradise, helping to make the best grand opening possible!

⋆⁺₊⋆ About the Pool:

Iago's Paradise has a desert theme, and is meant to look like an oasis, with sand on the ground and palm trees scattered throughout

The pool's mascot is a red parrot named Iago

There are multiple pools, separated by depth (including one specifically for infants) and a slide at the deep end of the pool

There are ramps and stairs to make entering the pool more accessible, along with paths without sand for easier mobility

There is an ice cream stand inside the pool area called the Cave of Wonders, that has it's own mascot (a tiger)

There is a food truck called Prince Ali's parked outside the pool area, specializing in dishes from the Scalding Sands

There is a picnic area, with tables and chairs for people to use. Each table has an umbrella, to provide shade from the sun

While there is no dress code at Iago's Paradise, all employees must wear one of these colors (and it has to be the primary color of their outfit):

All lifeguards must wear a whistle around their neck.

⋆⁺₊⋆ Jobs:

Don't wanna be a lifeguard? Here's some ideas for what your character could be doing to help out the pool! ♡

Admissions - You work at the entrance, ringing people up and giving them wristbands so they can enter the pool area

Ice Cream Stand - Working at the Cave of Wonders, there's a bunch of jobs to choose from! Running the register, making the ice creams, handing out free samples, etc

Food Truck - Prince Ali's collaborates with Iago's to provide food options for their visitors, and you would be the middle man. Informing visitors about the truck, handing out menus, taking orders at the picnic area (for those who want their food delivered), etc

First Aid - While all lifeguards should know first aid, there's a first aid tent to provide care for any visitors injured on the property. You would provide care to those who are injured, and if someone is seriously injured, calling for assistance (like an ambulance)

Swimming Lessons - Not all pools may provide swimming lessons, but Iago's does! You would be working with a small class of people, helping them learn the basics of swimming. Iago's provides swimming lessons for people of any age, but keeps them separate, having a class for children and a class for adults

2 questions, any tips on drawing Leona’s hair?

And which Twst character do you feel have the more challenging hair to draw if so do you have any advice to simplify them? If that makes sense…? Hairstyles were never my strong point in drawing.

Funny you mention Leona, Anon...

He must be the one guy with Jamil I draw the most, and I still can't get his hair right because I think his canon hairstyle SUCKS!

So, uh, yeah, here goes how I try and fail to do his hair :

1. Hairline and Ears placement

His hairline isn't really visible in canon, but I tend to draw him a heart shaped hairline. Ears are pretty much on the edge of his face, try to keep enough space for an invisible third ear between them.

2. Hair direction and separation

Leona's hair all separate from the very point above his left eye, so you can draw a line there.

3. Right bangs

Alright, let's start with the fun. Leona's bangs are long enough to hide his scarred eye, but not so present that they actually do. The bangs fan out to the exterior, all in the same direction.

Keep your movements fluid starting from this step. If you want a fluffy and soft effect, you need to draw curves.

4. Left bangs

Here I deviate from the canon. Vil and Leona have similar bangs but in mirror. To accentuate the difference since I draw them together a lot, I keep Vil's bangs going outward while I have Leona's left bangs keep the same direction as right bangs. If you wanna follow canon though, make it all go outward.

5. Hair point (how the hell do you call that thing in english?)

Starting from Leona's bangs separation, draw the hair direction. Full curves for hair that go to the back, and forking back upward for hair that go to the sides.

6. All Hell Breaks Lose

That's where I officially ignore canon. I want my floofy lion mane and I shall get it! Take Leona's shoulders or clavicle ends as landmark and go wild with the hair. The general shape looks like a pear for me.

There is no real shape to follow otherwise. Simply draw a bunch of elongated S of various shapes and sizes, make it go inward and outward, make them cross. Repeat and erase and do it again until the shape suits your eyes.

7 and 8. Braids

Leona's braids usually start right under his bangs, where usual human ears should be. I make them start a bit further down the back and hide the starts of them with rogue hair.

Trying to draw Jamil for the first time and HIS HAIRLINE WONT COOPERATE WJFJWJJRF

I just wanted to give tips for his hairline and finally I ended up doing a whole step-by-step to draw Jamil... Well, here goes!

How to draw Jamil (step-by-step), or a character design analysis by Mello

1. Face's general shape

Personally I (try to) give him a thin face with a pointy chin to accentuate snake-like features (and danger), while his hairline is rather round shaped.

2. Two-faced

Jamil's two-faced personality is very obvious on his design. You can cut his face in two and have his two distinctive personas. On the right is his work-persona, clean, well put together, decorated to give the best impression. On the left side you have his more hidden but honest persona with his bangs let loose to cover part of his eye.

3. Right side

One braid follows the hairline (which means you don't have to bother about the other braids' hair implantation from his forehead, thank gods). Place the three braids first and separate the space between them to have your hair implantation.

4. Left side

Since he has a ponytail and straight hair, you can simply follow the skull line and add some hair direction.

5. Bangs

His bangs reach to his clavicles and go inward (that gives him a more reserved side, it acts as a protective layer to hide against the world). Don't make his hair too flat, he has princess hair after all. Make it look soft and flowing.

6. Eyes shape

Jamil has rather lazy eyes so they are mostly flat at the top, with a point of eyeliner giving him a sharp edge. The lower part falls a lot and is pretty round shaped though.

7. Eyelids

Jamil has very heavy eyelids nearly the same size as his eyes, so you can copy paste and turn them around to have the general shape.

8. Irises

Jamil has rather little irises compared to other characters. Personally I like to elongate them a bit to accentuate the snake aspect a bit more.

9. Eyebrows

Jamil has thin eyebrows that aren't all that long. They barely reach to the far side of his eyes. He has very expressive/mobile eyebrows though, as seen when he stops pretending.

10. Mouth

Jamil has the CUTEST POUT a mouth that naturally turns downwards when he's not emoting.

11. Hair

Once more : princess hair. Make it flow-y, soft. Make it follow the shapes of his body/clothes.

12. Accessories

The last step would be to add the accessories. Personally I like to shape the feather a bit sharper like a scorpion's dart.

There you have him! A little pouty Jamil!

Of course, don't hesitate to add your own touch like I did with the irises and the feather (and, not added here, the hooked nose instead of the canon straight one). In the end, you should feel like you're drawing your own character, make it simpler for yourself!

Donnie pretending to nibble/gobble up August's tiny fingers. "Ah, baby fingers, my preferred delicacy. Truly a gourmet treat. Time to consume. OMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM." August screech-laughing in delight every single time. A brother walking in like ohhhh can I have a taste? And Donnie omnomnomnomnom-ing quickly and then covering up August's hand as though it's all gone. "So sorry, dear brother, not a single pinky left to partake in." Baby August LOVES it. Also baby August sticking her fingers in her mouth, they get covered in baby drool, and she just stuffs them into Donnie's mouth as he's playing with her and he's like 'the sensation of baby saliva in my own personal mouth, particularly when I was not expecting it, is hell actually'. But he plays it as cool as he can, gently removing the hand from his mouth like "Yes, thank you, my darling. I was beginning to feel peckish. How astute you are." Also despite me writing Donnie being very verbose, I think that's part of his sense of humor. I know this man baby talks his baby when he thinks no one else is around. He's a total pushover pile of mush for his tiny angel.
