Obi-Wan Has A Lot Of Self Restraint. It Comes Naturally To Him After Having Spend Years Learning How

Obi-Wan has a lot of self restraint. It comes naturally to him after having spend years learning how to manage his emotions. After years of carrying a power and using it for the good of the galaxy.

He hasn’t been a love struck Padawan for years. He has learned how to handle his attraction to others, to appreciate the emotion but to ultimately let it pass. Even if the Jedi Order had allowed relationships, there wouldn’t be any person in the galaxy that could keep up with the irregular and, frankly, frantic life of a Jedi. It required someone to be okay with picking up and moving on, of dangerous missions and discipline.

Then there had been the clones. Who, in their own words, were made for the Jedi. They had spend all their lives training for being by their side, for picking up and moving on, for danger and discipline.

Then there had been Cody. His fearless Commander, his caring Commander. Who had spend his entire life being told him and his brothers mattered less, but who still cared deeply and fiercely. A man who understood sacrifice.

A man that could follow the life of a Jedi.

And Obi-Wan hadn’t been a love struck padawan for years, but he came dangerously close then. He had too much self restraint to truly give in to the turmoil of feelings inside him, but Obi-Wan could watch.

Because watching his Commander wasn’t breaking control. It wasn’t letting go, it wasn’t attachment. It was just… watching.

Tracking his Commander’s movement came naturally to Obi-Wan. The other man demanded attention, after all. He demanded respect.

It was easy for Obi-Wan’s eyes to wander during war meetings. To find deep brown eyes already staring back at him.

It was easy for Obi-Wan to find his Commander fighting on the battle field. An action that should not at all be graceful, and it wasn’t not really, but Cody moved in a way that drew Obi-Wan’s eyes to him anyway.

Obi-Wan had studied his Commander’s face relentlessly. Had studied him in the mess hall, during night watches, his Commander’s face scrunched up in pain on the battlefield, the flush to his face when he had been drinking, the look of deep concentration during flimsiwork, the way he slept restlessly in the medbay, the way he would fall asleep after long nights of flimsiwork.

While they were at war there was no way that Obi-Wan could ever truly let go of his control. There was a galaxy that needed saving, there was the matter of their ranks separating them.

But Obi-Wan could watch. It was one of the few luxuries he could afford and indulge in.

Read an infuriating post about The Bad Batch once that went along the lines of this:

“Echo can keep rescuing the regs with Rex or something, lol, but the rest of the Batch deserve to settle down in Pabu at the end of the series!”

Or something.

Or something.

Yeah, that’s our Echo.

Our ARC trooper, who blew up in battle, spent years as a POW, had his body and mind used as a twisted science experiment to the point where he’s not even considered a regular member of the army anymore, commando, resilient, bad-ass pilot, soldier, dude who had the opportunity to run away like a fucking coward and he said NAH SON THAT AIN'T ME, GIVE MOMMA BIRD HER BEATING STICK and proceeded to run right back into danger to save his brothers using his screwdriver hand and his RAGE and his MAN SKIRT and his MIGHTY FURROWED BROW and FUCK YOU IF YOU'RE GONNA STOP MOMMA BIRD FROM RESCUING EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE BABIES.

“Or something”.

Gotta also love how rescuing slaves - their biological siblings, people they grew up with - is less important than retiring on paradise according to this clown.

Echo's goals for saving his people is seen like a fucking HOBBY.

And this, the last episodes of the series, this badass shines like a goddamned diamond. Folks I am VINDACTED.

Echo rescued his brothers and sisters.

Echo helped destroy an Imperial facility that effectively ended testing on clones, what he went through.

Echo convinced one of the scientists to help him keep unraveling the Empire's evil plans at the end of the series, even though he had a home on paradise AND HAD EVERY REASON TO GIVE IT UP.

I fucking love Echo.
