Honestly I feel a little sick to my stomach right now. I just read a study that shows (this is in the United States, where I am not from, thank fuck!, but I am a woman so this is disgusting and worrying to me and I felt I needed to share it, just because.. maybe to get it out of my system..idk) 1 in 16 women in the US lost their virginity by being raped or verbally coerced into sex by their partner. That basically means that 3.3 mil. women, aged 18 to 44 did not have consensual sex for their first sexual experience.

It also says that 1 in 5 women will be raped at some point in their lives. The study showed that the women who lost their virginity in a non-consensual way did so at the average age of 15.5, which is 2 years earlier on average, than those whose first time was consensual. The assailants would also be considerably older, ranging around the age 27, where as the consensual partner would be around the age 21.

It showed that nearly a 3rd of the first, unwanted sexual encounters ended in pregnancies, just under a quarter of the women who had been raped for their first time had abortions, their consensual counterparts averaging around 17 per cent. A lot of the women said they had been verbally coerced, by their partner by them threatening to leave them if they did not have sex with them.

The researchers also found that the women who had lost their virginity to rape or sexual coercion were more likely to develop gynecological conditions like endometriosis (tissue displacement in your uterus - very painful) and pelvic inflammatory disease, report illicit drug use, report fair or poor health or health-related functional deficits.

And all this is happening in a country where parts of it, are banning abortion. This is one of the most powerful countries in the world, with 300 mil. inhabitants half of which are women and yet this still happens.. we live in the 21st century and this is a civilised country how is this possibly still a thing. how do they keep letting these tragedies go on under their noses? and worse if caught, there are NO consequences unless you are a minority??

btw I know not all Americans support what is going on over there. This is not to shame them, unless they are rapist motherfuckers who think women are nothing more than a sex doll, baby making machine that belongs in the kitchen with hr mouth shut, then yes I am shaming you, I simply want to bring ti light some thing that came to my attention, which worried me and shook me to my core and quite frankly terrifies me quite a bit!
