"I hate her." Jonathan whispered. "Emmeline or Celeste?" Lewis' voice was quiet. "Both. Emmeline for getting us in this mess and Celeste for putting me in here with you" Lewis laughed dryly. "Oh, so that's what this is about? You can't hold a grudge against me forever, Jon." "Yes, I can." Lewis hesitated. He technically did have forever. "Fine, so maybe you can. But I'm still going to be here. You made sure of that." "What's that supposed to mean?" "I didn't ask you to take me to the Aconite. You could've left me in the church." "And let you get skinned alive?" He scoffed. "Sure." "It'd be better than sitting around waiting for a cure."
"Isee you're going in order." "I am. It makes the most sense." "You could've just asked Emmeline for my life story then. Or went to see my obituary. I believe it's still posted somewhere." "I want to hear it from you, Jon." "I'm probably the worst person to tell it. I'll probably just lie." "Then lie."
"What is your name? If I may ask." His voice was shaky. "Jonathan." "And your surname?" Jonathan sighed. "I suppose it was Miller." "You suppose?" He shrugged. "It's the name on my grave."
Ivan put out his cigarette on the table and began to walk away. He didn't mind the bloodstains and he certainly didn't mind the casualty. Didn't Magnolia serve in the army? It was stupid how bothered she was by the dead detective. He wasn't a good person anyway.
They fell off the tracks, the red sky making everything glow a malicious hue. Eyes covered most of it and the wind blew strong. The Aconites watched as more and more bloodshot eyes appeared and glowed. Crops began to die and dust invaded their lungs. Other people who had escaped the train were shouting at the crew, begging for help and mercy. Sybil stared at them.
"What are you doing?" "Giving our people an apotheosis. A divine being that they have needed since the beginning of the High Country. The gaze of a thousand eyes."

hey. if you’re feeling down about your writing, remember: you made a story from nothing. from your brain. you straight up invented people (aka your ocs), you weaved together plot points and scenes that only you could conjure, you created something. not just something, but something unique to you. something that wasn’t there before. it didn’t occur naturally. you made it, with your own brain and fingers tapping away at a keyboard. that alone is enough to be proud of, man. shit’s cool
