By following my blog you are confirming that you are not Anish Kapoor, you are in no way affiliated to Anish Kapoor, and you are not following on behalf of Anish Kapoor. Hi! I am a fairly young artist and I am thinking of creating an art blog. It scares me a little bit tho, could you give me any tips on how to start?
Hmm I don’t think I have real tips for you but maybe things I needed to remember when i first started my art blog?
First of all, you must be ready to face the lack of notes at the beginning. It’s NEVER because of you or your art, it’s just that gaining followers takes time and even with a lot of them, only 40 percent will really interact with you. Sometimes You’ll have more notes on stuff you barely worked on than on pieces which took you days. This is real for every artist.
Knowing that, NEVER stop drawing because you don’t get the appreciation you deserve. Draw first for yourself and not for others, have fun and draw what you really like. You will find people who will like your stuff like you do!
Getting inspiration from other artists is ok! Copy or trace art is not.
Be ready to face criticism. Since you’re going to make your art public, some people will probably (but not always!) criticize it. Constructive criticism is ok but some people are assholes so don’t fall into their trap! They can try to make you feel bad but you should never feel bad about your art!!
Don’t feel like you absolutely need to find your artstyle…it’s not a real thing.
Keep your artblog for your art only so people know what they are following. But don’t feel like you HAVE to post every day yo keep making content. Take breaks and post the drawings that truly make you happy and proud.
And finally don’t compare yourself to other artists (even if it’s hard not to). They are not you and they don’t have your experience and vice versa. Art kills are like a little rock on the beach. It needs time to get worked by the sand and the sea to become the smooth little rock it is supposed to be. All rocks are not from the same earth, don’t have the same components and didn’t receive the same amount of sea and sand.
Hope this can be helpful
