A/N - This is where you start praying to Namjesus. It goes downhill..or is it uphill? From here.

---

This was the most grueling assignment she could have received. She wouldn’t regret one single moment of it. How could she? A music lover who had drowned herself in every genre she could from a young age. It had been a dream to intern with the company responsible for BTS’ current tour.

It had been an even bigger shock when she was allowed to work alongside the production team. That one tour, turning into two tours that spanned the globe. She wound up living out of a suitcase, surviving on coffee, 4 hours of sleep a day, and more recipes to spread out cup ramen than she’d ever imagined.

She was still the odd girl on staff, unfortunately. She stuck out like a sore thumb where-ever they went. For one thing, she was taller than most of the females on the team. Let’s not get started on the males.

She tried to make herself as small as possible and failed miserably. The darker skin complexion, curly hair, and blue eyes gave her away. She was dependable, prompt, and thought outside the box. She learned to communicate thanks to the patient staff, lots of apps, and tenacity.

She didn’t like being obvious - but what could be done? It was always easy to find her. When she missed home, they’d find her in a kitchen in the wee hours of the morning reliving Southern and family comfort foods. Let’s just say there was an even trade of food culture.

But, like with any dream situation - there’s always something that threatens to ruin its perfection.

Sometimes it wasn’t a situation - sometimes it was a person. That person happened to be one Kim Taehyung.

30 days post kiss.

Everything was seemingly normal! They had avoided being caught by staff that night. There was a lot of alcohol consumed that night. These things happen, right? She kept telling herself that as the month zipped by. There were still moments that she could swear, his eyes lingered too long in her direction.

There was no awkward behavior between them. Everything was fine.

45 days post kiss.

Comeback season was in full swing. The schedules were tight and to the second. The boys were exhausted, and it showed. People kept energy bars, drinks, and towelettes on them at all times. Wipe sweat, coax a bite, a sip, offer the fan, and encouragement. It was hard to see them like this, practically wilting the moment they were out of the view of fans. The weather wasn’t making anything easy, either. It was sweltering and humid, and even she found herself with spare batteries to keep that small fan going. Her hair was pushed into a messy, frizzy, puff atop her head.

“Fuck this weather.” She growled softly. Tugging at the linen shirt, threatening to cling at the collarbone. She heard a beep through her headset, denoting the count time for end shots. The countdown echoed as they listened to the calls for a job well done. The Army wished them well with cries, cheers, and waves of the army-bombs.

80 days post kiss.

The boys kept smiles, waves, and proper idol etiquette on display until they disappeared beyond the staff doors. That door closed, and it was pandemonium. They were either bent over with hands-on knees, sliding down to the floor against walls, or leaning on a staff member. Everyone was sweating, there was no escape from it.

The fact that she wound up under Taehyung’s arm with another member didn’t matter. They were panting, hot, and suffering signs of dehydration. She could see their pulses throbbing in their necks.

“We need to cool them down.” The head PD came in with towels wrapped around ice-packs. There was a flurry of motion to get them out of layered outfits. Luckily, they had a desperately needed two-day break.

It took an hour to get them hydrated, calm, and mobile.

Everything went off without a hitch. Everything was seeming...normal.

Taehyung held a bottle of cold water against his neck. The world passed by in a hazy blur as they made their way back to the hotel. His head seemed to loll to the side. The city lights flickered in his gaze. The fabric of his sweats bunched in his hand, the only thing keeping him lucid.

His nostrils flared as he tilted his head to the side, her scent still there. He could again feel her skin against his from under her shirt. The trail of sweat along the column of her neck, he remembered it visibly. It gave her a glow, a sheen - a brilliance, even. They had been too busy for him to make any moves.

The shadows played along her skin, a peek of cleavage had him gulping the rest of his water down. He pulled the hoodie over his head and let the sound of the drive lull him to sleep. The fresh air in the van was enough to ease his frazzled nerves.

90 days post kiss.

The night blurred into a stumbling trip to his room. His clothes were haphazardly tossed to the floor as he pushed into the bathroom. He wanted the shower to rid himself of the day. He tried to lay naked on his bed and sleep. Taehyung ran his fingers through waterlogged strands of hair. The shower was hot enough to ease his muscles. His hands braced against the wall as the shower pelted his skin.

Massaged his skin? A groan slipped from his mouth at the sensation of fingers, kneading the knots from his shoulders. Fingers? Foreign hands. Small hands. “I don’t know who you are, bu-...” He whipped around, pressing against the shower wall. There wasn’t a chance to finish the sentence. Taehyung’s nostrils flared as his lips were captured.

His fingers slid against smooth skin, the taste of peaches, and the soft mouth that tangled with his own. The kiss broke as he pulled back, confused. “N-noona?” Her lips formed a heart as she smiled. Her arms slid around his neck as he dared to let his hands settled into the wet nakedness of her body.

Her head tilted up to him, “Kiss me again, Taehyung.”

When did the shower get hot? There was so much steam. He could scarcely make out his own hand in front of his face. It was better than the first time. Nothing was holding them back. She didn’t try to stop as his tongue pressed against hers. The scrape of his nails against the curve of her ass as he pulled her closer. She was so soft, responsive, as he pushed his hips into her.

Perfect.

Everything about her, to him, was perfect. He loved the way her skin felt beneath his teeth. The length of him pushed between her legs as he shuddered at the clench of her thighs around him. His fingers dug into her skin as tongue and teeth nibbled, licked, and marked her. The heat didn’t bother him at all. She clung to him as he pushed between the squeeze of her thighs. He was going insane with want. His hands slid over her ass, and he pulled her against him. The squelching noises as he slipped between the folds of her sex, not entering - Not yet. All he had to do was angle himself, just a little. She bit into his collarbone, and he knew there’d be a mark.

Taehyung didn’t care, not one bit. He spun her into the corner pinning her hips. She bit her lip as their eyes locked. He tilted his hips down, just so, causing the throbbing head of his cock to slip between those folds. Finally. Finally.

His tongue swept his lips as he held her firm. His whole body trembled with the effort to maintain control as he slipped upward.

…and inward.

“V.” A breathy, far away sound.

His brow furrowed as she repeated it. “V.”

There was a sudden flash of cold air that nipped at his ankles. “V!”

Taehyung sat up too quickly in the back of the van. The staff member had tried calling to wake him up. But, the side door opening and the violent shaking did the trick.

“G’damnit?!” He growled, snatching his arm away from the staff member.

“Sorry, V. I called you for ten straight minutes, and you didn’t move.” The guy looked crestfallen at his reaction. Tae ran his hands through his hair, thankful for dark clothing.

I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have snapped like that. I’m just…I’m exhausted.” The PD nodded softly, moving to the side to let the taller man out.

“Just get upstairs and get some rest. We’ll send the usual up.” The PD clapped Tae on the shoulder with a sad smile and made his way inside. Taehyung’s dark eyes narrowed as he was left, momentarily, alone.

His hands were jammed deep into the front pocket of his hoodie. He was doing everything he could to keep that massive erection hidden. Everything was painful - the air, breathing, the clothing against his skin; all of it pissed him off. He held his cock in one hand, under cover of his hoodie, pulling his bag behind him with the other. He just needed to make it to his room.

Tae got his room key from the front desk and made his way to the elevator. He rolled in, slamming the keycard against the reader. The elevator dinged as the doors began to close. He groaned as his head slammed into the back elevator wall. He could feel his pulse in his hands as he squeezed himself.

“Hold on a sec!” A voice, far away, called out as the elevator began to squeeze shut. Taeyung turned around to face the corner, trying to school his face into something less malicious. The door popped open for a hot second and was allowed to close. “Thanks for -” A female voice began cheerfully before pausing. “…V, is that you?”

Taehyung’s nostrils flared at the sound of that voice. His eyes popped open to catch her reflection, full of trepidation, in the silver of the elevator interior. The look he shifted over his shoulder caused her to press into the corner of the already small space. She suddenly noticed the length of his fingers as they wrapped around the bar lining the wall. It had been three months since that kiss. She had been doing everything in her power to avoid being alone with him.

The subtle way, of course. She dipped in, making sure to say her piece and evacuate the area. Business as usual; everything normal.

And yet, it wasn’t.

She found herself staring at the resource monitors too long. There were times she could feel him staring her down from afar. It made her skin itch. The sound of beeping was so loud in the silence of that elevator.

“Yah, Noona.” He turned to face her leaning back against the cold metal wall. “You’re really here, aren’t you?” She furrowed her brow as he looked at her from the fringe of his bangs. “This isn’t a dream, right?”

“V …are you alright? You don’t look so good.” They had all been suffering from this late-season heat. The night time cool-down had been a welcome relief. She ignored the alarms ringing in her head as she moved forward to place a hand on his forehead. “Jesus, you’re still burning up.”

Her hand was soft, cold, and real. Tae could smell the heat of her again. That scent of sweet something floral, and the slight musk of sweat. He turned his face into her palm with a heavy exhale against her wrist. She sucked in a breath pulling her hand away.

Well, she tried pulling her hand away from the iron grip of his fingers. “I have to make sure this is real. If this is another dream…” Tae offered a bitter laugh as he pulled her against him. “V you nee-” She spoke on a rushed breath before he interrupted her.

“That’s not my name.” He tugged her into the corner, spinning and pinning her hands above her head. They were eye to eye; nose to nose. It was just like in his dream. That one kiss gave him the blueprint to her proportions, and she was perfectly snug against that wall. Her eyes went wide at his obviously aroused state.

“V- T-Taehyung. You need to rest. You’re overheating.” A thick swallow as she corrected herself. The grip on her wrist eased at the use of his name. They were both breathing heavily as the elevator continued to beep along steady to the topmost floor.

“I know what I need.” He was leaning in again. There was nowhere to run this time. There was nothing but time and fifteen more floors before they reached the top. Taehyung tilted his head as he leaned in. “…I need this,” spoken against her lips as her chest bumped into his. Her lashes lowered as her gaze went to his mouth.

A moan broke the sudden silence, causing him to momentarily pause.

She didn’t mean to, it slipped out. It was the contact of their bodies as he crushed her against the wall. Tae smirked against her mouth, “And you need it too.”

14 floors left to the top…

“You know I hate when you make me wait, Tae.” The maknae narrowed dark eyes that trailed down the length of Taehyung’s body.

…and the tight grip that Tae had on the front of his pants.

Jeongguk’s eyes narrowed on his, strangely quiet friend. The towel draped around his broad shoulders as the tip of his tongue poked out against his cheek. Taehyung did his best to not flinch at the motion. He knew that little tick; they were all very familiar with it. A boxy smile was flashed at the maknae as Tae turned around to drop his bag into a waiting chair.

“Jeongguk-ah, don’t be like that.” Tae’s face contorted into a playful pout. He willed the erection away, thinking of all sorts of depressing things. All kinds of unerotic things. He refused to let the echo of her moans stifle his thought processes. Jeongguk gave an errant sniff as Tae moved around him, a clap to the shoulder followed. “I fell asleep in the van. It took them a moment to wake me up.” Tae sighed deeply as he turned on the bathroom faucet. The cold water was a needed wake up call. “…You guys were already here and upstairs. You got a head start.” Jeongguk gave a slight tick of his head. It was the truth. They all arrived and piled from their cars. They were ready for food, showers, and rest. The sweltering heat seemed to make everyone move just that much slower.

Y-yeah, I guess it was really hard performing today.” The youngest member pulled up a chair, yanking the top off one of the trays. He sat down, still toweling his hair. There was something that seemed strange, though. Jeongguk couldn’t shake this…scent in the air. Everyone knew he was sensitive to smells, amongst the whole group. Tae let the tension ebb from his shoulders as the maknae changed the subject.

His hands braced against the sink, the veins throbbing as a flicker of memory set him on edge. Maybe it was the water? Perhaps it was the sudden whiff of her scent stuck in his clothing. His nostrils flared as he remembered what happened in that elevator. His fingers tucked into the waistband of his sweatpants at the sticky residue on his abdomen. Before Jeongguk realized it? The shower thumped on again. “I’m starting without you, Hyung.”

“That’s fine!” Tae peeled out of his clothes, hopping under the spray of water. He made quick work of cleaning off the heat, and the evidence. He blasted himself with a spray of lukewarm water before stepping out of the shower. The flickers of a wet shower dream threatening to undo him again. Keep it together! He chastised his reflection before wrapping a towel around his waist. He grabbed another draped across his head. A soft sigh announced his presence as Jeongguk smiled up at him. The maknae’s smile faltered a measure as Tae walked by.

Tae toweled his hair fluffing the strands a measure as he looked out of the hotel window. Jeongguk’s eyes narrowed again as he chewed on a bit of steak. “Hyung…” The maknae’s gaze returned to his plate as he went to slice off another piece.

“…you should come to eat. It’s delicious.” Tae turned to the small table and nodded. He sat down, uncovering the lid on a cup noodle. The noodles were swollen, but it was his fault. Well, technically - it was no one’s fault.

Tae smiled, “Sorry, Gguk-ah. I shouldn’t have kept you waiting.” He stirred the, still hot, contents with a sigh as his body relaxed in the chair. “Ah, food! Finally!” He dared to steal a piece of the maknae’s meat, before slurping noodles right after. “Ahhh! That’s the stuff.” He followed it up with another few pulls from the noodles. He popped the tab on the cola, taking a large gulp.

He closed his eyes, letting all his favorite things settle in his stomach. Jeongguk watched him, hawklike, as he went through the typical eating theatrics. “So, Hyung..” Tae leaned back, rubbing his belly with a lazy smile.

“Mmm?” Tae clasped his hands behind his head. Don’t ask how it happened - but somehow? Taehyung had gotten much taller than the other members - Jeongguk included. It was a creeping few inches, but it was noticeable. Especially when Tae stretched himself out. His left leg was jutting out from under the table as he sighed.

“I think we’re going to try and go out later,” Ggukie smirked as he watched Tae sprawl. The other man opened an eye as the youngest spoke. The maknae nodded softly, “Yeah, apparently the staff is going to go have a drink or something. I know Jimin wants to go…” Jeongguk looked up at Tae expectantly.

“I don’t know, Gguk-ah. I’m really exhausted.” Tae frowned softly. “…maybe depending on how much later they go?” Jeongguk shoved another piece of meat in his mouth.

“That’s up to you, Hyung. I just know that with having the next few days off? Well, the staff is entertaining when they drink.” They both shared a wicked grin. The staff upon realizing they don’t have a schedule for at least two days in a row? They would practically rent out half a restaurant to eat, drink, and laugh. It was the best part to celebrate a job well done! It was nice to laugh while acting as normal as they could.

Taehyung’s rumbled a deep laugh at the thought. “I don’t know. I might sleep this time.” He grabbed up the cup of swollen noodles, slurping them and the soup down. He stole another piece of Gguk’s steak, slowly this time, he savored it. The cola was grabbed up as his thoughts began to wander. “You’re going to miss out, Hyung,” Gguk smirked at Tae. It seemed as if Jeongguk was trying really hard to convince him. He just didn’t know how much energy he could muster aft- “…you know that all the pretty PD’s will be there.” Jeongguk watched Taehyung’s body tense, their gazes met as the younger leaned across the table.

“Why wouldn’t they be?” Tae spoke before taking a sip of his drink. His gaze traveling back toward the window. The cola was settled down as he swallowed hard. Jeongguk’s chin rested on an upturned palm. “Come on, Hyung. We all know you have eyes for that one PD.” Tae’s leg began to bounce under the table, his lips pressed into a flat line. The younger man’s nostrils flared as he watched the other start to unravel. Tae broke into a natural, too quick, smile while waving his hand. “Ah, stop! Why are you like this, Gguk-ah!” He crossed his arms, a playful look to admonish his friend. “All of our PD’s are pretty. I understand that you’re starting to get older…” Tae continued like a father preparing to have the ‘birds and bees’ talk to his son. He kept the mirthful facade going without missing a beat. “…and that girls are strange creatures, but…” “How’d you get that scratch, Hyung?” Jeongguk interrupted him. The smile faded from Tae’s face, confusion settled in.

“Wh-what …scratch?”

“On your shoulder, Tae.” Gguk’s irritation was apparent as the outline of his tongue prodded at his cheek. Tae felt the softest puff as he flared his nostrils. The youngest clasped his fingers underneath his chin. “…it’s very noticeable. I wonder what you did that made someone scratch you like that?” A brow arched in Tae’s direction.

Shit.

Taehyung sat in the heavy silence as he remembered the moment where she pushed back. When she wrestled control from him, making him scramble for the bars on the wall. When she dug her nails deep into his shoulder as their hips smashed.

“I knew I smelled something familiar,” Gguk smirked. While most of the staff chose clean, fruity scents - there was one staff member who did not. She decided something profound, almost buttery, musky? It was deep, sweet, and lingering. To the point, you could tell where she had been on any given day. There was always a faint trail of it in the air. It wasn’t unpleasant, but it was definitely distinctive.

And Jeongguk got a whole face full of it as Tae disappeared to the bathroom moments ago. Taehyung scoffed softly, his head rolling slightly as his lips pulled back on his teeth. “Jeongguk-ah, she helped me while we were at the studio. So, naturally, you’d smell her on me. I was exhausted, I was slipping, and she tried to help me stand up.” The two traded heavy gazes before Gguk leaned back in his seat. Plausible? Sure. Whether the maknae believed? He gave no indication as his chair pushed back. “You’re right, Hyung. She helps out a lot, so it wouldn’t be too strange for her to lean on us.” Tae’s boxy smile didn’t reach his eyes as Jeongguk placed a hand on his shoulder. The fingers sliding up until Tae’s gaze lifted to the youngest. “You should rest, Tae-Hyung.” That thick silence befitting the deep connection they held, was slightly uncomfortable. Their energies, secrets, swirled like hypnosis between them. Tae coughed, reaching for the rest of his cola, breaking the spell frequently picked up by others who watched them together. Jeongguk smirked at the top of the Visual’s head as he avoided his gaze. “I’ll tell the others that you won’t be able to make it.” The maknae sauntered by with the click of the door opening, signaling his departure. “Just know you’re not the only one looking at her, Hyung,” Gguk smirked, the door slowly closing on the next phrase.

“I’ll send you pictures if truth or dare comes up.” The maknae’s chuckle left him suddenly incensed. He waited for a good five minutes before scrambling from his chair. The light in the bathroom flicked on as he turned toward the mirror. And there it was.

Scratches.

The angry red welts scattered on both sides of his shoulders like sordid wings. His brow furrowed while fingers raked through his hair. How? And when did sh-

The sweep, dance, and tangle of their lips drowned out the shuffle of fabric. She grabbed the metal bar behind her to hold herself upward. One hand dug into his back as he picked up speed.

The veins in his arms pulsated as his knees buckled with the flicker of memory.

Her hips undulated as they devoured each other in ravenous kisses.

Taehyung grit his teeth against pushing to a stand. The cold water turned on as he splashed himself vigorously.

She moaned his name like a sacred prayer to god’s long dead.

“Ahh!?” The baritone growl filled the darkness as he turned the lights off. He flopped on the bed with the sound of his heartbeat thundering in his ears. The sound of each inhale, and exhale, tore at his nerves. Taehyung closed his eyes and prayed for the dream to come to snatch him again. He wanted to dream about her still. The blood boiled in his veins shooting straight toward his cock.

“Fuck.” A sound of despair as he turned on his side. A deep breath in, and out, as his eyes closed. The exhaustion caught up with him pulling him into the sincere promise of sleep. For all of forty-five minutes, he slept.

….Just know you’re not the only one looking at her, Hyung.

Taehyung’s eyes popped back open as he heard this strange sound filling his ears. He sat up on the bed, letting one hand run over his face. Then he realized that it was the sound of his teeth grinding  -as if it would keep the growl at bay.

A pair of linen pants paired with a button-down Gucci shirt. A matching belt. A comfortable pair of black loafers. A spritz of the Atelier. A slight tint to his lips. There wasn’t a need to accessorize heavily.

It’s a good thing he didn’t need a mirror. He wouldn’t have recognized his face…

…or, the murderous intent darkening his gaze.

...you’re not the only one looking…

Time is irrelevant, right? Or is time relevant?

Taehyung couldn’t figure out which it was, honestly. It was as if everything was crawling around him, years had passed as he waited for the elevator. He was positive that one whole year had passed. It was impatience, that’s all. Because Jeongguk not only called him out - he put him on notice. That while he was making eyes at the beautiful PD? There were other eyes following his. She was unique, stubborn, headstrong, and all the things that most women around them were not. Of course, there is that stereotypical response that most men were interested in American women for the hell of it.

Especially if they happen to be African American. There was a whole mess that went into that - but the boys didn’t pay attention to it. They had millions of fans of every race, creed, and sexuality. They saw their message reflected in the faces of the world. They could learn from more than just media about the world.

They loved their fans. The Army was a rainbow of love and acceptance. That’s what they wanted - it’s what they shaped. It never occurred that they would get the chance to consider love from someone outside of Korea.

But, here he was standing near the elevator. His fingers with a chokehold on his cellphone. His teeth grinding with his patience and irritation. He didn’t know if it was love. But it was something. There was something he hadn’t felt before for anyone woman. He felt it for her. He wanted to figure out what it was. He wanted to get a chance to identify this sensation that tingles through him when she’s near.

And he couldn’t do that if someone got in his way. He couldn’t accomplish that goal if someone attempts to steal her attention.

Ding.

The elevator door opened to the scene of a couple making out in the corner of the elevator. He hissed his irritation, causing them to split. The avoided his seething gaze as they ducked out of the elevator. He kept slamming the button to close the door. When it closed? He sighed heavily, leaning his head on the metal wall.

He managed a couple of PDs to find out where they were going to be. It had already been two hours since they left. “Come on. Come on!” growling as he waited for a reply. He messaged his driver to meet him downstairs. Tae slid a hand in his pocket while exiting the elevator.

Eyes were on him as he swept through the lobby regal as a Prince. The Visual could only quirk the corner of his lips as he walked outside. The driver opened the door, jogging around to the driver’s side afterward.

“Do you know where they are?” Tae managed to keep the beast out of his voice.

“Oh, yeah. I thought you weren’t going? Jeongguk said that you were tired when the other drivers were gathering.” The driver furrowed his brow in the rearview mirror. He noticed the dark gaze on V’s face and shrugged it off.

“I changed my mind.” Tae leaned back with his arm across the back of the seat. “I got a second wind after a power nap.” A renewed vigor to protect a vested interest, actually. The driver chuckled, pulling off and heading to the local norebang.

The lights flickered across his face adding an eerie shine to his eyes. He chewed on the tip of his thumb. His wrist flicked that Rolex to spy the time. Tae groaned, letting his head fall back against the headrest.

                                  ..you’re not the only one.

He cursed under his breath as they jumped on the expressway. It’s now pushing to the three-hour mark. His fingers dug into his leg as it bounced. “We should be there in about twenty minutes, V.” The driver announced as Tae’s phone suddenly pinged with notifications. He paused, suddenly petrified at what he might see.

The boys were having a good time, well the boys sans Suga. He apparently had returned after spending an hour with the rowdy bunch. RM had also departed slightly after Suga. That was typical, honestly. Jin could be hit or miss, but the eldest tended to make sure the rest didn’t overdo it. There were pictures of aegyo done badly, delicious food, and group pictures.

He swallowed hard as he flipped through photos. The PDs were at a grill table, stuffing their faces, unflattering pictures of hungry staff. He chuckled lightly as he scrolled upward. The drinks in the air as they congratulated themselves.

Taehyung slowed his scroll as his eyes landed on her. She was wearing a dress?!?! He felt the saliva pool in his mouth as he noticed the bolero styled jacket she wore. There were a few tattoos on her arm that it didn’t cover.

But what it did cover? Was the spot on her collarbone where he marked her. The shoulders were full and paired with that little jacket? It covered up his handiwork. “Clever girl.” He smirked. Continuing to scroll, he pieced it all together. It seemed like there was nothing to worry about.

So it seemed.

Then he got to the next set of pictures that set his teeth on edge. All the PDs were grouped together. Then most of the males were in playful positions with the females. The females were all arranged in some girl group or choreography pose. Then the rest of the boys took funny pictures with the girls.

She took a picture with Jin, a toast.

There was a video of the idol dance challenge with her, Hobi, Jimin, and Gguk. They all took turns with different staff doing the dance. She took a picture hugging Jimin. He knew that she was aware that her height was a point of discussion. There was light teasing, of course. She embraced her height all to bolster her own confidence in her abilities. There was a running joke that she wouldn’t deal with anyone shorter - except Jimin.

Jimin got a pass. They’d all erupt in laughter, but Jimin puffed his chest, tucking his arms out to the side as if to swell himself even more. “Yah! That means I’m closer than any of you!” They all would laugh as she ducked out of the room. Taehyung could spot the blush under the caramel tones of her skin.

“We’re here.” The driver stretched as he parked with the other row of vans. They mostly had the place to themselves. “God, I’m starving. I can’t wait to get something to eat.” He opened the door for the idol.

Tae smirked as he stepped, “That’s funny. I was just thinking the same thing.” He closed his phone on the last picture of Jeongguk back, hugging her. “…I’m absolutely ravenous.” Tae offered a smile that would make a villain quiver. His hand slid into his pocket as the driver ran to open the door for him.

They stepped inside to the smell of meat cooking, merriment, and singing? Oh yes. Oh yes, there was singing as the liquor flowed. Tae’s predatory air must have itched some of the staff because they all seemed to turn as his proximity to them increased. Red faces, lazy smiles, and flailing arms beckoned him into the chaotic fold.

“Hey, V?!” Unison.

He turned on the charm as he leaned in to inhale the smoke of barbecue. “Hey, hey!” Hands were shaking him or pulling him.

“Come eat with us!”

“Here’s a drink for you!”

“You have t-to dance with Hobi!”

“Taehyung-ah, c-can you do the flower? The aegyo has been so bad.”

“Yes, cleanse our souls!”

There was laughter mixed with the same requests they make when they are well behind their alcohol tolerance. He held up his hands in surrender, but he accepted the first shot of soju. “Let me get some of this in me, and we’ll see what happens.” They cheered as glasses were raised with a shout of Ganbei! More soju was ordered and consumed, he moved from table to table greeting everyone. He didn’t want to put too much focus on his current obsession. Finally, he walked toward the back, where mostly the main faces were located. She had her arm wrapped around Jimin’s shoulders, leaning on Jeongguk’s sturdy frame, Hobi and Jin had their arms on each other’s shoulders.

They were singing something, slightly off-key, laughing and rocking with the other PDs at the grill table. They would stop randomly to make ssam.

“Jiminie, say ‘ah.’” She chuckled as a slice of meat, and vegetable-filled lettuce wrap was stuffed into the main dancer’s mouth.

“Ah, noona! You’re getting really good at these combinations.” He closed his eyes blissfully. Tae’s hands were balled into fists in his pocket. He stood off to the side, watching them. Jeongguk turned to her with a pout.

“I’m getting jealous,” Gguk spoke toward her ear. Her brow lifted with a side-long glance. Finally, she rolled her eyes and recreated the same combination. The wrap hovered in front of Jeongguk’s face. His lips were in a thin line as he arched a brow.

She sighed heavily, “Seriously?” A soft chuckle escaped as he scrunched his nose at her. “Ugh, fine.” She lifted the other hand under his chin. “Ggukie, say ‘ah.’” The maknae nodded his satisfaction and did as instructed. She was a little less gentle this time. The ssam was stuffed thoroughly into his mouth. He needed to really open his mouth to start chewing. She looked satisfied with the bit of difficulty.

“Noona, it is good. But, my mouth can only open so wide.” They all laughed at the whole two minutes it took for him to swallow the food.

“Then maybe you’ll make it the first time, eh?” A brow ticked upward as she stuffed bean sprouts into her mouth.

They all laughed.

She sighed softly, another piece of meat snagged from the sizzling surface. Just a few hours earlier, she had stumbled to her room. Her legs weak, her soul shattered, her mind a mess, and so were her pants.

“Thank god for dark fabric.” She peeled out of her clothing, laid on the bed for all of twenty minutes before she got a message. They wanted to go out? But, what if…? She was informed that Tae was tired and wouldn’t be going.

“Why not.” She found a white linen dress, a small jacket, and flats. There was an angry hickey forming just on her collarbone. At least the dress and jacket covered it. But, she took a little foundation and setting powder to it. As insurance, it didn’t look like a blended nightmare.

They started with soju first, then food. Meaning they were all tipsy and hungry by the time the meat was ready.

She was glad to get out. Her gaze swept around the table as they all laughed, talking about mishaps along the way. She was sandwiched between Jikook, while Hobi swatted at her arm when he made a joke. Jin waved a hand in her direction as she countered a dad joke.

The laughter kept coming, but why did she feel strange? Her brow furrowed as she pulled another piece of meat from the grill. You know that feeling. The one that makes you feel queasy, laced with fear as she looked up from the table.

Like a sense of impending doom weighing down on her head. Where was it coming from? What was it?

Ah.

That’s what it was.

Kim fucking Taehyung. Looking at them. Looking like something from a page in an art book. The man just had a presence. His arms were crossed, his eyes dark and narrowed - focused on that table.

Focused on her. She narrowed her eyes, reaching for the bottle of peach soju. She took the bottle down to half, followed by a gulp of cider. Jeongguk noticed V first. His gaze slid over to the Visual as they laughed.

He knew he was watching them as he goaded her into feeding him. His fingers danced over her shoulders, and she barely paid it any mind. Gguk smirked, his tongue prodding his cheek as he turned back to hyungs making bad jokes. That bright, ‘bunny,’ smile plastered on his face as Hobi groaned about Jin’s humor. Tae’s eyes burned dark at the sight before him. It was almost as if he willed her to look at him.

Their eyes met as he tilted his head back. He knew he had her captive when the tip of his tongue touched along his lip. She stopped chewing her food for a moment. Her laughter suddenly absent from the conversation caused Jimin to look up lazily, “Ah! Taehyung-ah!” His friend, obviously intoxicated, waved him over.

Jeongguk pretended not to hear as Tae appeared with that boxy smile plastered to his face. The maknae knew what the ‘actor’ was capable of. Just like he looked ready to toss the whole table moments ago, now he was laughing and clapping the others on the shoulders.

“Ah, Taehyung-ah! Tell Jin-hyung he’s not that funny.” Hobi groaned, holding his stomach as if some phantom pain tore him up inside. Tae gave the dance captain a flat look. “Hyung, I think you should consider your own jokes first.”

The whole table lost it.

Jimin laughed so hard he slid out of his chair, almost taking her with him. “Yah, Park Jimin! I will send you home if you can’t hold your alcohol!” She couldn’t keep a straight face. Jeongguk pulled her snug against his side as Jimin cackled on the floor.

She blinked rapidly at the sudden and obvious proximity of the maknae. “Uh, t-thanks,” She murmured. Even though she was a few centimeters taller than him? The current position had her under his arm and leaned into his pectoral. He tilted his head down, that smile on his face. He was so adorable - ah, I’m doing it again. She had to chastise herself each time. Jeongguk was getting up in that age frame where he wants to be seen as manly.

There was nothing wrong with that. Sure, he grew up in front of billions of people. You don’t want to hear those adjectives for the rest of your life. He was doing his best to show different sides of himself. And she respected his work and his work ethic. So the least she could do? Is respect his wish to not be thrown into the realm of ‘childlike.’

Then again?

She’s seen all of them shirtless, sweaty, and working out. There was nothing child-like about Jeon Jeongguk.

Oh, honey. We need to lay off the soju! She chuckled to herself. Taehyung took a seat at the table, he reached across and stole her peach soju! Suddenly, she blinked, staring at the maknae’s hand on her shoulder. Did…did he just tighten his grip? “Ggukie, m’you can let me up now.” Her gaze was on his hand - his gaze was on Taehyung. “Sorry, noona.” He chuckled as the pressure eased off her shoulder.

Jimin crawled back up to join the table. He rubbed his forehead leaning into her with a pout. “I think I broke something.” There was a devious look on his face as she shook her head. She stuffed another lettuce leaf offering. He cute smile as he opened his mouth and chomped down.

“Mm,” He mumbled through the chew. “…feel better already.”

“Jeongguk, you have to sing for us!” One of the crew members plopped between them. “Come ooon, we’re waiting.” The maknae gave an exaggerated sigh as a smile broke.

“If I have to…” He turned to her and offered a hand. “Shall we?”

She blinked up at him with a mouth after stuffing her own face with a wrap. “Huh?” A hard swallow had her reaching for her cider. “Uh, n-no! I couldn’t!” She shook her hands rapidly as the other staff started to waggle their brows.

“Come on! Go to sing with him! You have to! He asked you!” She was waving her hands in surrender, and Gguk took that opportunity to grab them. He hauled her up from her seat, damn this strong individual?!

“I-I..” She stuttered, taking her hand back into one of the karaoke rooms. He laughed heartily as they disappeared down the hallway. The sounds of others singing loud, drunk, and somewhat okay assaulted her ears.

“Aish,” He hissed. Squinting one eye as he tilted his head from the noise. “Geez, no volume control.”

“Thank the alcohol. All the inhibitors are off.” She chuckled, following him. They found a room at the deep end of the hall. It’s one of the rooms that let you broadcast out to the restaurant. The rooms were soundproofed, contrary to popular belief, but people out sang the buffer. He picked up the microphones and handed one over to her.

Her hands began to sweat as he flipped through the song list. “Mmm. Ok, noona. What should be sing? Shall I pick a girl group song? One of ours?” Jeongguk smirked as he turned to her. She was so nervous. It was so cute.

He could see why Tae found her attractive. There was just something about her. Even he couldn’t put his finger on it. She sometimes forgot the rules and would speak up when she shouldn’t. He couldn’t use his fingers and toes to count how many times she’s gotten into altercations. Everybody’s view of perfection was different.

But when they were overseas? She really tapped into the pulse of the ARMY. There were things that could be better, that could have more impact. That’s what she stood for and somehow? She managed to find a compromise.

“Uhm. C-can we do Wildflower by Park Hyo Shin?” Jeongguk shook himself as she spoke. Had he been staring at her this whole time? She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. It was different tonight. Usually, they were used to frizzy curls framing her face or tucked into a bun on her head. It looks like she took a flat iron to it. It was silky, smooth, and cascading over her shoulders.

She turned toward him as he shifted his gaze to the floor quickly. There was quickening in his pulse he wasn’t prepared for. “Uh, r-right, yea. That’s a good song.” He swallowed hard schooling his expression into something light and neutral.

The good thing about singing with Jeongguk? He really knows how to make a person look good. She could carry a decent tune on her own. After some a few brushes with death, her gospel choir soprano turned into a low alto. Almost like Taehyung, she could dole out a high note if need be. But, she kept her tone easy and low - for a female that is.

The first piano notes tapered in on a slow staccato. Jeongguk gave her a look indicating she could take the lead. She took a deep breath, the microphone trembling with her fingers.

Jeongguk’s brow furrowed, chastising himself for that silly moment. Then she opened her mouth.
