Honestly, I Was Talking To My Brother And Got Another Idea For A Game. Especially After Princess Peach
Honestly, I was talking to my brother and got another idea for a game. Especially after Princess Peach Showtime.
I'll preface this by saying PPS is the perfect game for girls and women imo. Female main character, outfit changes, aesthetic color scheme--everything about the game gave me nostalgia and it isn't even out! I'll be looking forward to playing it (if I have the money π·) because it makes me actually feel like a female without the color pink as the only color or horrible gameplay attached to it.
But it's sad as hell that it takes so long for something like this to come out. I got Super Princess Peach a few years after it came out and as a little girl, that was the most enjoyment I got out of a game that didn't have hot male characters keeping my attention.
Obviously, the main issue is men game developers. I'm not gonna be all "video games are men's fantasies and bla bla" I don't care because all I want is for some games to be a woman's fantasy βΊ
If I knew a female game developer, I would help her in a heartbeat to make a game that actually caters to what women look for in games. Men can keep Cammy being literally butt naked if I also can get Lee Chalon in more swimwear π.
I understand the sentiment of girl gamers and that if games didn't have "heterosexual man juice" sprayed all over it, things would be better for us; but it's not gonna change and I wouldn't want it to because I grew up with games that had big breasted women and useless damsels I had to save, and I love some of those games *cough*DMC*cough*. I just want there to be more on both ends of the spectrum.
So, honestly, that's my TED talk, but I at least wanted to show the kinds of ideas we could be getting alongside our usual games.
~Read on if your interested~
Speaking of usual, where is the Huniepop with male characters π€
Like, do people not realize that a game full of hot dudes with the main point being to engage sexually with them would be the first thing I'll throw $20 at?
Anyways π
My first real idea is a collectathon for house items, clothes/outfits, and other accesories.
Imagine Mario Oddessy, but just with the clothes. Instead of collecting the moons, you'd collect various items of clothing you could dress your character up in. A sofa for the house you live in or an accessory to style an outfit with.
I think, just maybe, there's a correlation with Animal Crossing and The Sims being popular with a female audience.
Personally, I don't like the current climate of ignoring a woman's natural interest in fashion and things that look good. I get that it's a stereotype, but all stereotypes are based in reality.
It's bad that girls are being shunned away from wearing a pretty outfit just because that's seen as "girly", but guys are "cool" when they have a good fit and even get praised if they "break gender roles" [insert sigh here]. I even think about how much this would help trans girls to discovery themselves more.
And it doesn't have to be something stereotypically female either. I'd never wear a skirt or dress, but you best believe if a flowy jacket or cute sweater came my way, I'm wearing that shit and I'd love to play games that allowed it, if they weren't unplayable and unbearable.
I usually hate platformers, but I'd love one if my objective was to get clothes and other designing items for a house or my character.
Next Idea
Obviously, VNs are usually the games associated with women, but I'd enjoy one that had gameplay on the side. You know, scratch the itch that Obey me! just doesn't.
Obey Me! Is perfect having guys who are likable without forcing random female hate as "conflicts". However, there's nothing to the gameplay so I'm usually pretty bored after a while.
And even if there is some kind of gameplay, you usually are forced to be romantic and there's no platonic options. Like, I was reading a post by Hamilton Hour and a review said exactly how I feel, they said this:
A lot of the time, I feel like romance games often push you into pursuing a relationship with someone, and when you donβt, the character will get sad and then you feel awful about it.
Original Post here
And no truer words have been spoken!
Seriously, what is with games doing that? Why not give us more content in the game and make all three if you want. Like Stardew Valley, there's options to be an asshole, to be platonic and options to be weird/overtly romantic. It makes it interesting to replay the game and see different choices.
I got off track though, back to the VNs with no gameplay. I really mean for there to be more romance oriented VNs with male characters that have gameplay. Like, Phoenix Wright, Danganropa, or Professor Layton but with romance lol.
I say this because there's tons of dating sims where the primary objective is to date women and they're always super good. Again, if anyone needs help I'd be willing to work on creating a story. Just ask.
Next idea
This isn't really an idea, but just something I wanted to say.
I super want more fighting games with male options that don't look like they were made for no one to love. I just think it's so convenient that female characters who are made to be "unattractive" are still the prettiest things on the planet.
Also, has anyone ever noticed that male characters in fighting games that are attractive are always married or devoted to another? However, most women aren't. Like Mortal Kombat for example. Now, I don't play this franchise so I could be wrong, but I have seen it and try and keep with the latest releases.
And I just happened to notice that the human characters who are male are usually married or dating someone.
On the opposite end, females in Mortal Kombat are either widowed, single with someone who has just a crush on them, or so butch they don't care for romantic relationships.
You can't be more blatant than that.
Street Fighter takes the design approach to turn away women. Seriously, name one male character from SF who's traditionally attractive then name a female, I guarantee you, you'll run out of men.
Then there's Tekken, my favorite.
Tekken is my fav for that very reason. There's a wide range of characters who have no romantic involvement, but they look human and *gasp* they're attractive?? What kind of sorcery...
Lee Chaolan
Hwoarang
Jin
Leo (ik they're essentially non-binary, but all that means is both get a victory)
Shaheen
Miguel
Hell even Paula and Law fit this imo.
And my personal fav, β€ Dragunov β€
I know he doesn't (sometimes) fit the traditionally attractive group, but bro have you seen some of his renders?

Idk I just find him pretty
Bite me any day sir *rawr xD*
Yeah he's 27, and looks about 40, but someone likes that irl (aka me) and I ain't special. So I know others would probably appreciate the older looking gentlemen type and not just the baby faced hottie (dilf come on).
Any-fucking-way
Next Idea
The last thing is more related to writing than an actual game idea.
You know how in Zelda you're saving... Zelda?
Well, why the hell isn't there a game where I'm saving Link (and no, the CDi games DO NOT count).
I mean in general, I'd love a game where you play as a heroine and you're saving a male character. Don't even get me started on the many ways that could work.
A god is wounded and it's up to her to save him
A prince is captured while on enemy lines, no one else is capable of infiltrating but her.
Needing a vessel, your childhood friend's body is snatched
Afflicted by a curse, she knows where to find the remedy
Like come on, is it that hard to make a male in need? No it's not, dudes are human too and sometimes they need help. Enough with this solo shit, if men could be alone than why the hell do they all want girlfriends or need wives make it make sense
All this is to say, female coders, developers, writers, we need ya'll π£π
And as I've said throughout this, I would not be opposed to helping someone create the story of a game they're developing.
Thanks for reading, if you got to this point, be sure to take care of your self, drink some water if you haven't or get some sleep if it's late π
~Buh-bye now~

So, while I try not to let my thoughts get to me as usual. I wanted to share this idea I was realy excited about!
Randomly, I thought of this old idea I had where a man who was "cursed" to transform into a wolf and a woman who's the only one who can tame him. This thing was dead officially.
Then this happened at the beginning of the month:

This is part of what I wrote that day.

Thus The Moon, Rabbit, and The Wolf was reborn πΊ
From there I started writing a story that I foolishly said would only be 6k words max. It's at 10k and I'm not even a little bit done with it π·
So then the other day I wanted to see what "Shuichi' looked like.
Btw, his name got changed to Tsumi to match a theme in the story of him being a Mood God

I really enjoyed making this concept since I find him really adorable.
Backstory time: the top image is him before he "awakens" as his previous self/The Moon God. He's mischievous and a little impulsive. In general, he falls victim to his emotions too easily.
He's one part of this trio so if I ever get around to drawing the Wolf and the Rabbit I'll share them too π
Thanks for reading~π
Recently, I've seen a lot of debate about what makes a good villain and I just wanted to add my two cents so we can pay for this chip bag together.
Bad guys, villains, antags, whatever you call them are very interesting individuals. It doesn't even have to be a person, it can simply be an ideal that makes something negative for your main characters.
In this specific case, I was seeing a lot of people dislike the villain with the sympathetic background. I totally see where this is coming from so here's my take.
Most people don't feel like they can create a bad person without giving them a moral justification for what they're doing. I would assume this comes from the fact that most people irl don't do bad things for no reason.
Revenge
Sorrow
Rage
Are usually the things people in the backstories of villains.
Tell me you haven't heard one of these before:
I was married before this, but they took them away from me, now I have nothing to live for and nothing to care about.
When I was younger, everyone used to make fun of me, bully me into submission, and do whatever they wanted. Now that I'm stronger, I'll do to them what they did to me.
I swore revenge to those who crossed me. No one believed I could do anything, and now my goals are right in front of me.
These are normal human emotions taken to 11 and are stereotypical reasons why antags do what they do. They're not bad as everyone has love for the sympathetic villain or the misunderstood bad guy, but reasonably it's been over used to hell and any attempt to make the opposite is a one-dimensional mess.
Here's the thing though. The mindless villains who are evil for the sake if being evil are confusing to most people.
People try and come up with a backstory when there isn't one for a villain who just wants to smash some heads. Creators are almost forced to make a backstory because "there has to be something.
When, in reality, they're just a bad person.
A good way to avoid all of these cliches is to use real human emotions to your advantage. I happen to like true crime and have seen a lot of people who are worse than the scum in the drain of your toilet, but yet finding out they just "took pleasure" in their crimes is much better than them saying they're the way they are because of bullying, abuse, or trauma. Which is often used as an excuse rather than an actual reason.
Not to say these can't be valid reasons for someone's behavior, but sometimes people are just evil. Not every killer had an abusive dad or a vicious mom. Sometimes their life can be the most normal sitcom thing ever and they still turn out to be a rotten apple.
Now, in order to end this, I say we need to see more if every kind of villain. The sympathetic one, the mindlessly evil, the tactical bad guy, the power hungry one that everyone loves, and the one who everyone loves to hate.
Here's some "advice" about writing/creating a non sympathetic villain though. Don't think you have to make a reason, but if you want to give them a reason make it more related to their personality and not their upbringing.
For example, a villain I know nothing about seems to have the plot that he doesn't like the group he's apart of; so, people took that as the creators making him sympathetic. Most likely though, he probably just doesn't like the way in which those around him act. How foolish they act with the power they have. He wants the same thing they do, but not in the way they choose to go about getting it. This seems to just be the way he is regardless of if he was a bad or good guy. (I'll see if I'm even a little bit close when I finally see the game for myself).
This guy who I didn't even know existed until about an hour ago is what spawned this post. So use this as you will and thanks for reading~
Things to know if you wish to write an Actor!AU
Actors for a movie are very unlikely to meet for the first time on set, unless their characters barely interact. Especially for couples/family members/friends, you will often do auditions together (to test chemistry), script readings, rehearsals etc. Sometimes you might even travel with a co-star and depending on the movie you might do combat training (or any other type of training) together.
When you get on set, you don't immediately start shooting. You first get your make-up, hair and costume fixed. You probably also warm up your voice first, especially if you are about to do a scene where you talk very loud or even scream. Same if you are about to do an action sequence, you will probably want to warm up your muscles first.
Actors are usually not the first people to get on a set. Technicians, make up artists, costumers and often the director too will be there before actors show up.
A shoot almost never starts with a sex scene. Everyone knows they are some of the hardest (as in "awkward") scenes to film in a production so they usually try to plan these when you've already been shooting for a few weeks.
What is however more likely to be filmed first is a scene that shows a lot of the characters' well... character. You want to make sure as early on as possible that your casting choices were correct. That is why the Live Aid scene was the first one to be shot for Bohemian Rhapsody for instance. You don't want to waste time and money on filming an entire movie only to realise that the actors don't match well for the big (emotional) scene.
A movie can, but is rarely shot in order. What usually happens is that scenes are shot based on location. If you have a scene at the beginning of the movie and another one at the end, but they take place in the same environment, then you will film them at the same time. Shooting a movie in the film's chronological order costs extra time and money because you need to move your crew a lot more. It is usually only done by directors who give a lot of importance to the performance of their actors.
Actors have no say in their character's wardrobe... or at least officially. You may give costumers ideas based on how you perceive your character, but you don't have the final word in what you will wear in front of the camera.
Same goes for make-up.
And everyone wears make-up. Yes. even men. Yes, even characters who don't seem to be wearing any. Unless you are working on a very indie project, you are wearing make-up in front of the camera.
There is this thing called "guerilla filmmaking". It is something done in the indie filmmaking world, where you have micro-budgets and use whatever equipment you have at hand. Because of that budget, it often means filming in real locations and without the proper filming permits, which is obviously illegal. Just thought it could give some people inspiration.
Anyone is free to add to this list. I just really had to make it after reading yet another fanfiction where actors who play love interests meet for the first time on set and the director casually drops "I think we'll start with the sex scene"
My anxiety seems not to work when I'm tired, so I'm queuing this while I'm unable to convince myself to not.
So this is a scene between my MCs in A Fourth Dimension Reality where Cassie (the one being "annoying") is making all these comments to the short fuse Larson. I love this dynamic so much lol
Still nervous abt sharing fully tho πΆ
