coming home after a long day, seeing my partner resting on the couch watching something on the tv. i flop down next to them and they lean in for a kiss.

“but there must be something i can do. look, is there anything you have to finish before tonight?” i frown, thinking for a moment, before muttering a quick no— everything could be done later or tomorrow. “good, then i think it’d be best if you—snap— sleep for now.” my neck instantly relaxes and my head falls into the cushion behind me, my whole body going limp. i exhale quickly as i feel my mind slow and empty, everything going quiet and muddled. my nervous system calms. i feel like i’m floating on clouds. i hear my partner start to whisper.

“that’s it… just relax and sink for a little while… then when you’re well rested, we can have a bit more fun.”
