Erwin, Levi, and Hanji Breaking Up With Their S/O

Enjoy some more of my favorite genre. Angst~

It was late at night and a content smile was on your face as you happily walked to your partner's office. They were busy doing work all day so you wanted to accompany them in order for them to not feel lonely. You opened the door to see them and when they looked up at you their expression felt grimacing. You couldn't tell what was going through their mind so you asked them. "What's wrong?" The words said next were something you never would have expected. It came out like rotten poison. "(Y/n), we should break up."

Erwin:

Erwin's expression remained calm and serious as the words spit out of his mouth. There was no sign of any guilt leaving his face. "W-what? Break up? Why?" You said as you felt your whole body tremble. The blonde commander put both of his hands linked together as he backed his body to the desk chair. "We're not fit to be together in a relationship. I'm a commander running a whole army and I can't have a relationship distract me from my goals." You couldn't even comprehend what he was saying when you felt more words come out of your mouth. "But Erwin, we can still make this work. I know how busy you are and I understand you run a whole army but that doesn't mean you should be deprived of any happiness." The man extended his hand out to grab his pen to work on some documents. Contending what he was going to say next. "I'm sorry, (Y/n). But this relationship was only a distraction. I have more important things in life I should be focused on." You couldn't continue to argue back when you started shaking from the held in tears. Was this relationship never that valuable to him? "I-I understand. Goodbye Erwin." You walked out of the room with two left feet and lightly closed the door trembling with emotion. The only thing on Erwin's mind when he broke up with you was the fact that he was a stubborn man. If he had to get rid of the the only thing in his life that made him happy to reach his dream, then so be it.

Levi:

"What did you say?" Not believing anything Levi was saying. Levi signed in frustration before saying sarcastically, "I said, let's break up (Y/n). Can't hear?" You couldn't see any reason why he would have wanted to break up. Sure, you almost got yourself killed last expedition because you were reckless. Levi was furious with you after the mission and gave you the biggest scolding. But that didn't necessarily mean he never cared about you. He was just worried. "Levi, no. You're wrong about this. Remember all those times we would drink tea and talk about the future together? Getting married and maybe having children? There's no way that wasn't real for you to just throw it away." You rambled as you talked faster by the minute. Nothing has changed from Levi's stoic facial expression, nothing at all. "I think you need to wake up, (Y/n). This relationship was a childish fantasy of yours. This isn't a fairytale where we can be happy. So wake the hell up and live in the real world." Whatever words came from Levi's mouth felt deadly to you. It was killing you in the inside and you couldn't do anything about it. "Fine. If you want to break up then so be it. I'll go grab my stuff from your room." You walked inside his quarters to grab the belongings you kept inside. Levi continued the night on the outside looking content like nothing was wrong. But the truth was, you made him happier than anyone else ever could. He didn't want to stay attached just so you can leave his life like everyone else did. He did what he had to.

Hanji:

Hanji managed to keep the grimaced look they had, even though they struggled to say the words that came out of their mouth. But it was necessary and had to be done. The face you made spoke for itself as your heart shattered into broken pieces. "Hanji, no... we can't." Hanji looked at you with a serious expression before taking a deep breathe. "I'm busy with my job as the scientist and researcher of the survey corps so I never even have time for you (Y/n). This won't work." You shook your head in disbelief as you looked down to the necklace Hanji gave you. "Remember this Hanji? You gave it to me after one of the expeditions to remind me that I'll always be in your heart. There's no way you mean that. Right Hanji?" Hanji's vision went down to the floor as they comprehended their next choice of words. "(Y/n), I just can't keep doing this. You shouldn't be with someone whose never even going to have the time for you." Your disbelief got the better of you and so did your stubbornness. You started raising your voice. "But Hanji! I don't care if you don't have a lot of time for me! Your love was always enough! Can't you see we don't need to break up?!" What you didn't expect was for Hanji to yell back, with the harshest words ever given. "When will you stop acting so selfish (Y/n)?! I'm busy with my job to try to protect humanity and you're only busy thinking about some fantasy of yours! Grow up!" Your eyes widened at the choice of words and you clenched the chain on your neck as you ripped it off. "Here's the necklace then. Guess I don't need this anymore." You threw it at them and ran away with a built frustration and sadness. Nothing between you and Hanji was ever going to be the same again. Hanji regretted everything they said and wished they could turn back time. But it was too late. The choice was already made.

i love this one so much! to be honest my mind is often a jumbled mess because it’s full of headcanons that i’d go feral over so alas, i can’t think of everything at once hehe but here we gooooo! i’ll be doing canon!verse just to switch things up! i don’t think these are my best thoughts either because i agree with most when it comes to canon so it might look like i can’t write it but i’m rambling here lfdjgfd what i’m saying is i think i could write canon easier through a story, which hopefully i’ll do soon! alright, sHUT UP FAE. once again, thank you for sending this in lovely <3

HEADCANONS FOR CANON LEVI.

note: a mess, i guess. GLDGDF.

trigger/content warnings: canon. brief mentions of sexual intercourse (minors dni). fear of losing life, etc. um, i can't think because it's generally around the AOT universe but do let me now!

when it comes to romantic love, levi isn’t entirely against it. it’s just never really on his mind and there’s a subtle amount of fear that lingers in the back of his mind. he’s seen love. he has seen couples in both the soldiers around him and townspeople but, it’s just never the main priority in his life. i think he can sort of embrace the fact when he falls for someone but again, being humanity’s best soldier is the first thing in place. would he have moments where he wishes he could just relax and be with someone he loves? of course, he’s not some robotic soldier.

his morning routine is on point. body clock wakes him up at the required time (when he’s able to fall asleep, of course). if there’s no required time, it’s always around 6 o’clock. 7 o’clock if his body is deciding to be nice to him and let him fall into a comfortable sleep. whether he stays up or is asleep, he’s in his bed or at his desk during lights out. he’s content with being quiet and working in peace or, evidently, if it happens, sleep.

now, what does the morning routine consist of? not sign of laziness. a tea to coax his mind into being calm and collected for the day. a decent breakfast, nothing overly big because stocks are limited but more of nutritious meal that doesn’t leave him feeling hungry. most of the time, he would have eaten before the rest because he allows them to sleep into 8:00 AM on normal days. he would shower before everyone else and simply be ready. levi values being organised and clean. i think that’s proof through keeping the house clean but it’s how he lives his life off of the battlefield in general. it’s not just cleaning rooms and such. it goes beyond that. levi feels like he truly has a grasp of control when things are organised and so it only makes sense for levi to be both a night and morning person.

some people view levi as this ridiculously strict person and then lacking any warmth. personally, i don’t see that. of course, respect to everyone and their imaginations but for me, levi has always shown warmth and that he cares for his squad. it’s just in his own special way. for example, the sleeping in. some captains would yell at them to wake up before the sun rises and start the day off with aggressiveness. levi? no. levi may be firm and expect obedience when it comes to his orders but, he cares. he cares in his own ways. that means the extra hour of sleep. it means deciding to give his share of meat out to his squad if they’re looking a little drained. he’d claim it’s nothing though. it’s the brief touches on the head and encouraging words. that being said, you’d not want to disobey any direct orders from him because his punishment would be strict, something you’d quickly learn to never disobey again.

his soldiers and fierce drive for victory is what motivates him through each day. they were his only motivation. justice for humanity. that’s until he met you. you were someone who just— appeared. at first, he tried not to think much of it. he could acknowledge in silence that you’re pretty in his eyes but he’s older and needs to focus on saving humanity.

you start to crawl your way slowly into his heart and become not only another reason to be motivated but a reason to potentially look at life a little lighter. a man who thinks he has no time for romance. a man who was just neutral about it all. still, he knows better. there is no time for romance, even if his mind begins to wander as he lays in bed, finally giving him the main reason that coaxes him into slumber. not all the time but better than before. seeing you smile gives him the peace he never thought he’d experience.

levi is excellent at hiding his feelings. you’d never know that he’s fond of you. he doesn’t like playing favourites and being biased. he wants to give all of his soldiers the same treatment. that doesn’t stop him from making you a cup of tea every so often. his excuse? you like tea just as much as him so why wouldn’t he make you a cup? it’s a decent thing to do, after all.

there are places where you make camp and having to share the same sleeping space. different soldiers put together and yet, you’re always paired with levi. you sleep comfortably and what about levi? he watches over you longingly. not in a creepy way. it’s just he wants you to be able to get as many hours in as possible. glares towards any source of the sound, especially if it’s another soldier.

one day, when he does embrace the fact that he’s developing feelings for you, that’s when the fear begins to settle in further. he doesn’t want to lose you. every day on the battlefield is a reminder that either of you could go. still. it takes months or even maybe years until he finally tells you. time is important but only when he thinks life is on the line does he ponder over the idea of telling you.

i often think that captain levi is fond of forehead kisses. he’d cup the back of your neck gently and press a lingering kiss to your forehead behind closed doors. it’s a gesture that you’ve come to learn that it’s an expression of love for him.

levi is fond of washing each other. he finds peace in being able to scrub the blood off of each other’s body to know that you lived another day together. for so long he fought this idea of romance but here he is, subtle domestic moments during the fleeting time in privacy.

some people view levi as anti-sex, which i can support! i support all kinds of headcanons people have for levi, whether canon or au. as a side note, i think we should be supportive of any ideas people have and not wildly aggressive. anyways! i can embrace it. personally, for this case, i’m rather fond of the idea that levi is okay with sex but views it as something very intimate. he thinks sex should be healthy and would want those around him to be careful about it and not just dive in headfirst and blind. he’s the kind you could probably go to, to talk about it all and he’d hold no judgement. it comes back to him caring about those around him so he can’t just completely shut the idea out. sex is part of many people’s life.

for levi, sex in his eyes is about connecting with someone. with him, he’d want to be gentle through it all and very attentive. he’s inflicted pain so much on people in his life, that he’d hate to do it with the one he loves. he’s not hyper-sexual and actually prefers to connect with his lover in other ways but he still enjoys lovemaking when it’s with you. just know it will be soft, taking his time to worship you and make you feel good.

i think in general, levi is very attentive in anything he does. it goes back to him caring. if he notices something troubling one of his soldiers, levi would try to silently find a way to eliminate the troubles or approach his soldiers to find a solution together. he’s a captain for a reason. it’s not just from obeying orders from above or being the strongest soldier. he’s a captain because he can inspire people around him and take control. he can guide them through tasks and can think of something within the moment, yes but, being a good captain isn’t just about leading but also being able to take care of the ones around you and make them feel safe. people put so much trust in levi and he puts trust into his soldiers.

not just attentive on the field, of course. i think that as a lover, levi is more hyper-aware of everything involving you. it’s not intentionally creepy either. he’s just observant and wants you to be comfortable and happy. if he thinks you’re nervous about something, he’d take over. he’d ask how you’re feeling and if you’re okay. for me, i think levi either asks directly or brings it up in a subtle matter through a conversation. really just depends on his mood!

levi only accepts cuddling sessions when everyone is dead asleep and no one will disturb either of you. he becomes fond of resting his head on your chest, hearing your heartbeat as you sleep peacefully, holding onto each other. why this position? hearing your heartbeat is another way of knowing you’re alive and for him, that’s comfort.

okay but, really love the thought of levi working out privately in his room. his job as a soldier is physically demanding, after all. naturally, he doesn’t really have to work out and will always be in shape but it makes him feel grounded when he does sets of push-ups and sit-ups. hell, even chin-ups. i can picture it all, maybe i’m drooling a little.. maybe he lets you relax in his room, expecting you to read or rest but what are you doing? watching him like a hawk, prompting him to be silently amused.

he’s not overly affectionate, as most of us think but besides forehead kisses or patting your hair, i picture him enjoying kissing your inner wrists tenderly, tips of fingers caressing along your skin, as if silently desperate to remember how you feel. again, never in the eyes of others.

Coming Out to the Aot Vets

In honor of pride month enjoy these scenarios! <3 You're all loved, supported, and valid.

Erwin:

Erwin came to visit you at your home since you both planned to study together for your final exams coming up. You and Erwin have been close ever since you were young children since he was your next door neighbor. You bonded with similar interests such as reading novels and wanting to learn more about the world. Your mother noticed how inseparable the two of you were and immediately assumed your friendship would blossom into something more. But oh how wrong she was. You only looked at women in that way and no one else knew except yourself. You had a feeling Erwin was getting suspicious about you and that you were hiding something. He saw your small discomfort every time your mom asked if the two of you were dating almost constantly. Seeing your form hunched over while looking at papers, he decided to ask you what's been wrong. "(Y/n), has something been bothering you lately? You seem out of your head." You looked up from the flashcards to see Erwin giving you a soft yet concerned look. It was true that something was bothering you, but not like what he probably thought. "It's nothing Erwin. Everything's okay." He obviously wasn't buying it since he knew how your eye twitched a little when you lied about something. Erwin walked over to sit next to you by the bed placing a hand on your shoulder. "I'm your best friend (Y/n). Whatever is bothering you I want to help in any way I can. No judgement." You let out a sigh due to your constant nerves but you chose to come clean to the person closest to you. "Okay, so.... I know we've been best friends for so long but there's something I haven't told you about myself." Noticing the comforting hand on your shoulder you spit out the two simple words. "I'm gay." Erwin blinked for at least a second before saying, "That's all (Y/n)?" You nodded your head but not much long after Erwin leaned in for a hug. "You don't have to worry (Y/n). You being gay doesn't mean any different. You're still the same person and that's all that matters." You hugged Erwin back as you felt nothing but pure gratitude for the best friend you had.

Levi:

Levi and you were pretty much stuck together like glue ever since you were toddlers. Both of your mothers were close friends which meant the two of you saw each other often. At first you felt pretty awkward around Levi since he always seemed so intimidating and kept to himself a lot. But as time went on, he got used to your presence and you both started talking more. You never found someone you can talk to and open up about your problems with more. But not everything you were able to be open about. The hidden secret about your sexuality had been hidden for a while and you haven't bothered to come out to Levi worrying he'd see you different. You liked to think you hid it pretty well, but it didn't help that you had a bit of a crush on one of Levi's other friends named Petra. Levi read you easily and if he figured out you were gay you don't know how you'd react. The day he found out came sooner than you thought since Petra agreed to hang out with you and Levi at the mall. He noticed how nervous you were around her and the heat on your face was visible. When Petra left and two of you were alone, Levi asked you a question. "(Y/n), do you like Petra?" Your eyes widened in shock and you started stumbling over your words. "W-what? What makes you think that?" He shrugged at you as he said, "It's pretty obvious the way you act around her." Your gaze went to the floor and Levi noticed in your body language how upset you seemed. "(Y/n). If you think me finding out you liked women would change my opinion about you, you're wrong. You love who you love, that's your choice." Your eyes watered a bit hearing Levi say those words to you. He was always so considerate and understanding of you. "Yeah, you're right Levi. I'm proud of who I am." Levi's eyes softened at you before he turned away and said, "Let's go to that ice cream parlor and I'll get you that banana split you like." You let out an appreciate smile before saying, "Sounds great."

Hanji:

Hanji knew you like the back of their hand but what they didn't know about was who you were into. Hanji frequently invited you to go to frat parties with them and always was encouraging you to find a guy to talk to. The problem was is that you weren't interested in any of the guys. You weren't even attracted to guys at all. Hanji would attempt to set you up with some guys they knew but you always shut them down no matter what. You were surprised they didn't see right through you but Hanji always just assumed you were super picky with the guys you liked. So they kept trying. "Come on (Y/n)! I know he seems super grumpy but you'll like him I promise!" You were scrolling through your social media account not wanting to participate in another conversation like this again. "I don't think so, Hanji. I'm just not interested." Hanji frowned a bit but tried to keep being encouraging. "(Y/n) you turn down every guy I try to set you up with. At least try to give this guy a chance." Your moping wasn't really helping the situation whatsoever and you were starting to get tired of all these repeated conversations with Hanji about your love life. "Hanji, can you just lay low with this? I don't want to talk about these kind of things anymore." When you snapped back at them Hanji didn't know what to think. What was the problem? Were you just not interested in dating? They put their finger on their chin in thought but then they realized how genuinely uninterested you were in guys. You never seemed attracted to them and never participated in conversations about guys the other girls were attracted to. "(Y/n). Are you gay?" You froze. Hanji stared at you with a curious expression as the nerves crept up to your brain. They figured you out. "Yes Hanji. I'm gay. I just didn't know how to tell you." Hanji shook their head and wrapped their arms around you for comfort. "You don't have to worry (Y/n). Gay or not, I'll always still love you. You're my best friend and I respect you for not telling me earlier." You leaned your head into Hanji's shoulder. "Thank you, Hanji. I love you too." Hanji smiled as they felt your soft touch on them. Nothing was more comforting than this very moment. "So... guess I gotta find some cute girls for you to hook up with huh?" "Hanji!"
