“I’m sorry for interrupting your cozy time.”
Goblin: The Lonely and Great God Episode 10.
kdrama review part 3! today we're doing
cinderella and the four knights

one of the most widely unknown dramas, so cliche, so cringey, but i watch it in five days (im a 12th grade student so five days is pretty good)
we have strong female lead who don't take no crap, playboy guy who im sorry i adore, idiotic motorcycle jerk who i want to slap, and the cutest kpop ish guy (who also played the sexy ass lawyer in sh**ting stars). how can I forget the best mr lee, the only man worth relying on, and a very business proposal-esque chairman of the company (why are chairmen so common in kdramas?)
i. a moment of silence for the main lead's life. miss ma'am is working like twelve thousand two hundred and twenty two jobs and poor girl has to spend all her money on her mom's crematorium shelf (the shelf system intrigued me alot we don't have that here). she has one pair of clothes, sleeps on the balcony, the BITCHIEST step sister and the most horrible stepmom (what was up w her honestly loose screw ass). but our amazing fl overcame it all with a smile and i adored her for it.
ii. playboy guy — sorry guys, i love him. he was pretty upfront about his ways honestly, and yes he was jerkish but ive seen characters do worse and get away with it. + they seemed to want to explore the trope of girl rejected guy who's never been rejected before and is intrigued but they gave up halfway when i was really shipping them together bec the way ha won kept him in line was *chef's kiss*
iii. stupid motorcycle crying face jerk — a bully for no reason. unrequited love, unrequited angst and just a very im not like other girls vibe. why did he always look like he was crying. why did he never do his hair. why was he a jerk. why did he throw money. idiotic shitcake i can never forgive the writers for this
iv. the childhood lover — of course, if we're expecting a barrage of cliches, i adored every one of those tired cliches, but this one jus. not for me. why does girl have no self respect??? im a people pleaser and even I WOULD HAVE STOPPED. she was in love with a guy that constantly told her no and she jus? went on with it? like no, u loved me when we were kids so u have to love me now? ma'am what is up.
v. the staff at haneol house deserves a separate point. mr lee - best. the cook/maid whose name i don't remember - loved her. grandpa was douchey, but i can't hate many old people.
still wish ha won would have ended up with hyun min, but crying face got her.
if you're looking for a complete classic cliche platter, this one's for you!
ps - couldn't complete it

today we're at
descendants of the sun

our beautiful beautiful man song joong ki as armyman yoo shi jin and the fl song hye kyo as the doctor kang mo yeon. second lead couple, as usual, more widely shipped as always, seo dae young and yoon myeong joo.
admittedly, i was looking forward to military man x doctor trope vv much but i was not too happy with how they pulled off the main couple.
i. im sorry, but i was so used to ship vincenzo and hong cha young from vincenzo that my brain could physically not compute song joong ki with another woman. i know they were married BUT.
ii. the fl. my dear lord. so annoying. AT FIRST, i really understood where she was coming from. i truly truly understood her moral dilemma. but oh dear god is there not a limit to writers just having the fl find reasons to reject shi jin just for the sake of plot twists?
iii. BUT i really liked how they explored that dilemma about her protecting people by saving lives and him protecting people by taking lives. it honestly got repetitive tho, so that made me lose interest as well.
iv. one thing i gotta admire — the amount of depth they gave each character. every side doctor who came with the relief team had so much of a story, and it was made in a way that was not intrusive to the lead couple or even the second lead couple.
v. and ugh, of course, the badass females. i mean, the military doctor? she was peak badass. it did annoy me in that scene where the guys were sent a package by some girls and the two doctors went ballistic over that. but when they fought over that idiot college guy or whoever — idk, it irked me but all the well, we always love jealous protags.
vi. of course, a separate point for song joong ki. that man is a work of art. i used to think he’s got such a baby face when i started vincenzo, but by the last ep of vincenzo, i. . .really stopped thinking otherwise. but his performance was, as always, amazing, and i havent seen reborn rich yet but im excited. + the epic bromance, in competition with the goblin and the grim reaper.
in short, if you like hard to get girl tropes, some action mixed with drama, a LOT of second hand embarrassment, then please check out descendants of the sun.

it's time for
sh**ting stars !

look at them.
i will never understand why it's censored.
welcome back to unwanted reviews <3 today we're talking about shooting stars, a series that is not well known but one of the best ones out there.
we've got our fighter oh han byul and rich hot traumatised gong tae sung, college (?) friends but working enemies transition to (obviously) lovers.
i. well-placed transition between friendship to crush to love to hatred to love again from both the sides, tbh. it was difficult to see han byul feel anything during the first few episodes but loved the way lee sung kyung brought her to life. han byul was treated as a proper working woman, who was not some miracle worker or anything, but her journey of learning and growing was explored well.
ii. all bow down before kim young dae. istg, i completely understood the hype about tae sung in the series. also, kdrama actors look better with their hair pushed back and you can't fucking change my mind. this man was the perfect example of petty but i think he redeemed himself well. his bromance with almost every male character in the show was simply *chef's kiss*
iii. side characters special shoutout they were so cute, everyone ended up together like one happy family. it's like watching your kids grow up and all marry each other. (quote: the office us). special mention to tae sung's manager bec damn that actor was a pain. manager was also pretty dumb in the beginning but he made up by helping tae sung flirt with han byul.
iv. han byul and tae sung were SO cute together. the ending scene was so wholesome and gave me sm closure on the entire series, it made me cry. also, the way she never gave a crap about his celebrity status when he kept DOING COOL THINGS AND MA'AM NEVER PAID ATTENTION i felt so bad for tae sung
v. those two side actors getting married was cute and deserves a special point.
8/10, sung kyung never fails to impress (kim bok joo????) and young dae stole my heart. it was so weird seeing lee jung shin in c4k after this but love him all the same. loved kim yoon hye's diverse roles from vincenzo to this she was absolutely amazing.
go watch shooting stars, honestly.
oh sorry, sh**ting stars. (honestly, is there something im missing? WHY IS IT CENSORED??)
