A few months ago, I tried to sell my eggs to a fertility clinic for down payment cash, and that’s when they found a suspicious mass.

The governor lifted his moratorium on certain procedures in May. I finally got an MRI. The tumor was completely solid and had consumed one of my ovaries. Radiologists thought it was cancer. After a short-notice laparoscopy at the Fairview Masonic Cancer Clinic, I’m down to one ovary and tube.
Today the final pathology report came back. It was an ovarian fibroma -- benign but rare, and most commonly seen in women starting menopause.
After a few existential weeks, I’m just grateful for everything.
To those with ovaries, get your eggs checked even if you’re young, lest they stab you in the back.
There were many luminous moments in this year of endless pain. For me, this little slice of soil at Franklin Steele has been a steady source of solace.
