Prompt: What if Vi and Caitlyn met during their younger years and managed to form a genuine bond?

It wasn't everyday that Caitlyn had a visitor in her room, nor was she allowed to sneak some people in. But she always disobeyed the rules anyway, what difference does it make now? She lends a hand to the teen climbing up her window, looking left and right to make sure that none of the patrolling enforcers would see them.

Vi had successfully climbed Caitlyn's window, a smile on her face as she lands on her feet.

"Sorry I'm late, cupcake. Powder was having a hard time sleeping tonight."

"Vi, how many times do I have to tell you that it's okay? It's not like we have a fixed schedule, do we?" Caitlyn jests, fixing Vi's slicked back hair.

Vi noticed the abundance of flowers and gifts on one side of Caitlyn's room. Surely enough, it was from her suitors. Being the only daughter of a high ranking official meant Caitlyn was subjected to male attention, which means Caitlyn receives such extravagant gifts on the daily. Vi looks down at her empty hands, slightly embarrassed that she always came into Caitlyn's room empty handed.

"So, what are we doing today?" Vi asks, a lousy attempt at diverting her attention to an activity.

"Not quite sure, but I do have a box of building blocks I haven't opened yet. Would you like to build them with me?" Caitlyn offers, her hand in Vi's own.

Vi couldn't say no, and so she nods, both of them settling on the floor as Caitlyn places the blocks down. All they had to do was follow the instructions and build what was on the box. It was a cupcake, one with a blueberry on top at that.

Vi doesn't remember when the topic went from the blocks to their dating history. She felt sheepish, since she couldn't actually say she dated someone. She never went on dates, the three kids back home keeping her hands full 24/7.

"So, you've never really dated anyone?" Caitlyn asks, rather surprised at Vi's confession.

"No, not really. I've liked a few people, but I never really got around asking them out," Vi confirms, placing her block on the half finished block cupcake.

Caitlyns hums in acknowledgement, her eyes wandering to Vi's own. Those gray eyes, her pink hair, simply everything about her, it was perfect. Caitlyn was confused on how this girl was never asked out, because she totally would. She admired Vi, and that alone was enough reason for her to want the teen.

An idea came over her mind, and she immediately tapped Vi's shoulder. Perhaps, if she showed some signs, Vi would finally notice.

"Vi, look over there for a moment," Caitlyn says, pointing to a nearby table.

The girl was confused, but she looked anyways. There was nothing there. She was about to look back at Caitlyn when she realized that the girl had leaned in close, their lips touching as she faced Caitlyn completely. Caitlyn leans back, her cheeks flushing to a bright red.

"I'm so sorry, I was supposed to kiss your cheek! I didn't expect you'd look back that fast-" Caitlyn panics, only to be shut up by Vi willingly putting her lips on Caitlyn's own.

The two were silent after the kiss, sitting right beside each other as Vi's hand rested on top of Caitlyn's. What now? They knew they both liked each other, but what then? The silence was getting uncomfortable as the clock ticked, with Vi asking the first question.

"Do you want to date...?"

"Of course."

"So we're girlfriends?"

"We're girlfriends," Caitlyn concludes, looking at Vi with the most love struck expression she could ever have.

Vi returns the smile, bringing up Caitlyn's hand to her lips, placing a gentle kiss on the back of her hand. It was still weird, but they're both learning, little by little. They could only hope that the future had something good stored for them.
