I went to Bluesky today and there were people being hostile to Neil Gaiman because the main characters in Good Omens are played by cisgender actors. I thought of entering the discussion but Neil knows how to take care of himself.

Do younger NB people even think how rare older NB people who recognize ourselves as such are? Do they think how rarer older NB who are out to the world are? Do they think how even fewer are British actors? Finally, can they name a couple of middle-aged, ostensibly non-binary British actors who love the story and are famous enough to get BBC and Amazon Prime to produce and broadcast the show?

I don't think so.

As an older non-binary person, I call bullshit on them. It is already a joy to have such good allies as Michael Sheen and David Tennant doing amazing work. It is a joy to see so many roles played by whoever did they best. It is a joy to see a non-binary actor in season 2.
