When I was ten, all I wanted to do was travel the world and become a Pokémon master. Thinking about it now, I'm pretty sure I would have died; like, the moment I'd have stepped out of the house. That's a lot of responsibility and safety hazards for a ten year old. Even now, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't really survive the world of Pokémon. I've had Ghibli on the brain lately since I'd been working on this one for a couple of days now. I've actually been marathoning a few movies, haha. I'd originally sketched this out to cover up a pretty embarrassing journal entry in my book. In the end, I decided to color it too; to further cover up my shame, of course, but also because Spirited Away really was one of my favorite films :) those are supposed to be gold nuggets in his hands, by the way, although you can easily mistake it for buttery popcorn. Awhile back, I wanted to make a story about a tree/forest spirit that's forced to live in some shitty apartment in New York after his habitat was demolished for more housing or whatever. He then spends his days just trying to coexist with the people around him, occasionally using his spiritual nature powers to help others in some way; probably solve crimes, or like, grow a rooftop garden?
