Admittedly, I don't feel very confident in my ability to give drawing advice. Most of my process boils down to "I dunno, I just kept trying to scribble these things until they worked how I wanted them to"

That being said, I think the best tip I can give you is to look at the similarities between the human and non-human bodies, and then skew their anatomy accordingly.

I'll try to explain what I mean here:

First, let's take a look at Bumblebee. Most Transformers are very humanoid in appearance, especially in the Gen 1 cartoon. The main difference is the vehicle parts still visible in robot mode, as well as how blocky these guys tend to be.

I've traced over both Example Guy and Bumblebee with coloured pen to highlight the basic form that both of them share.

Now let's take a look at Ghostfreak. Ghostfreak's body strays a little further from the usual humanoid form. From the chest down, his body trails off into a singular ghostly tendril. Although form the chest up, he's pretty much got the basic humanoid form (ignoring the fact that he's lacking almost all facial features)

Once again, I've traced over both Example Guy and Ghostfreak to highlight their similarities.
