Oh, my poor sweet summer child... Acting like people are boycotting because they don't like spending money. People have no issue with paying for a quality product, but they DO have an issue when a business begins relying on overt greed and shady practices that alienates it's consumer base. This is LITERALLY gambling, throwing money at something you're not gaurenteed to get. This is pitting players against each other in a game that has no other competitive function, save for an automated battle and a popularity contest. The devs AREN'T sitting there and taking it- they're deleting reviews, and locking people (many of them paying players) out of their FB accounts, which means they're locking them out of the game they paid for. People HAVE asked them for improvements, and they responded with the boilerplate "we hear you and we're taking your feedback into consideration" copy/paste that always means "we're ignoring you and we're not changing a damn thing".

These are not starving artists or indie devs struggling to keep their lights on. Elex is a MASSIVE company. Love Nikki is on four servers, and this isn't even the first version of the game- it's the THIRD as far as I know! People spend plenty of money on regular events, on rechage suits, on daily diamond cards- and there are MILLIONS of players on this server alone. This company is making money hand over fist, so forgive me for not being too concerned that little Timmy can't get a new villa for his birthday. If I, or anyone else with a modicum of common sense, were in their shoes, I wouldn't be ignoring all the complaints leveled at me. I would acknowledge that my consumers are pissed at me, uninstalling my product, and warning others away from my product and DO something about it, rather than sit around with my thumbs up my ass waiting for the white whales to buy my another Porche.

Even now, people asked for other ways of treating these events, including just making the ranked suits buyable. The devs just don't pay them any mind. There are no ranked events on the chinese sever and, surprise surprise, it hasn't gone bankrupt. If they had listened to the backlash last time, people wouldn't be up in arms now. They claimed they'd take our words into consideration, and have done almost nothing to prove they have (save for new skintones that, of course, came with an event for them to monetize). This is, almost to the letter, how Activision and EA treat their customers, and look where it got them. A massive drop in both players AND revenue, and in EA's case, government officials looking into their glorified gambling boxes. This isn't about the people behind LN needing money, because the problem is that SOME money clearly isn't enough for them. No, they've made it clear that they want ALL the money ever, and THAT'S what has the community splitting apart. The divide is between people who are upset that something they love is getting worse and worse...

And the people who oh so helpfully remind us that we don't HAVE to play. We don't HAVE to do something we enjoy doing because, if you don't keep your mouth shut and accept every scummy thing a developer or publisher does, then you don't deserve to enjoy it.

LN fans. We don’t need to boycott.

GUYS. PLEASE READ WHAT I HAVE TO SAY IN ITS ENTIRETY.

This is a FREE game. Have you ever seen any ads? No. Have you been put at gun point to hand over your money by the devs? No. Do you HAVE to pay to play? No!

Please guys. Boycotting and petitioning is incredibly ridiculous.

These people work hard to make this game a good game to play. Boycotting the event would only make people who are more inclined to win, easier for them to win.

The two basic suits, the starry kimono themed outfit and waitress outfit, are adorable and posable!

Please stop the discourse with devs. They work hard to make a quality game, and seeing you all thrash and throw a temper tantrum, of course they aren’t going to sit there and take it.

Yes, nobody likes ranking events. I don’t either. But…Jesus people, we are better then this!

This is just ONE event across the hundreds, maybe thousands of events we have/had/will have!

Rather then go to ban the event, or “boycott”, and give the game 1 star reviews (which is literally spam btw) why not ask for an improved version? Bigger ranking pools? less costly ways of gaining that ranking in game/or through purchases?

These are all things we can reasonably ask for.

Remember, the developers are PEOPLE. They wake up, go to work, and live with their families, and make a living trying to do what they enjoy, just like you and me.

They rely on paying players to help improve the quality of the game. To keep food on the table. Have the lights running. Send their kids to school.

Just lower your anger, and put yourself in their shoes.

Demonizing these hard working, talented people isn’t the way to go about this.

We don’t need war over one event. There will be better events. This isn’t worth a meltdown.

We need to be mature, understanding and patient.

At the end of the day, this is still just a game. And if you honestly don’t like anything in this game anymore, you aren’t obligated to play it.

This game has a wonderful community, and I don’t want it splitting apart over 1 single event.

So please, be kind to each other, be reasonable, and be understanding.

Thank you for reading.

And let us not forget that, by default, ThinkGaming only shows the sales of iOS users (you have to have an account to see Android sales, which most people don't bother with). Love Nikki is ranked the 6th most popular RPG (for... whatever reason) in the Google Play store, with well over 5 million downloads. Assuming the android market sales are similar to iOS sales, and... yeah, you've gotta be tripping balls to think this is the blood, sweat and tears of some poor, struggling start-up devs that you need to defend.

"But Silver, the game is free and there's so much content; it's not too much for them to sell a few things. After all, the devs need money to eat, and it's not like anyone's FORCING you to buy anything!!" If the employees of the company are being paid minimum wage, it's not because we didn't buy enough diamonds. Spending fifty bucks at McDonalds isn't going to make you the hero liberating the poor, underpaid souls that work there for pennies; it's gonna make you the dumbass flaunting your money at McDonalds. Big companies don't pay their employees on commision; their wages are fixed regardless of how much of your wage you spend on their product. Even so, I would normally agree that having a few microtransactions in a f2p mobile game isn't then end of the world, but... it gets to a point where it's not MICRO anymore. $5 is... okay. $10, that's pushing it. $20, $30-- ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS?!?! That's not fucking "micro" anymore, that's veering into console price range.

Spending $100 usd on a picture isn't putting money in anyone's pockets but Elex's shareholders. And... this just baffles the mind, but how anyone can defend a "FREE to play" game with NO gameplay (it's tapping a few buttons- Candy Crush has more "gameplay" than this) having, for all intents and purposes, dlc that costs more than a full priced AAA release from Activision or EA? Five pictures, that you can- and WILL- easily lose when Elex pulls the plug on this server (or, y'know, your data gets corrupted)... cost more than Monster Hunter World. But it's okay, because you don't *have* to buy it.

hey i'm just gonna say that love nikki is not a million dollar company ok what are you smoking

First off, judging by the fact you love asking me ‘what I’m smoking’, and for whatever reason can’t bring yourself to reply to my responses on my post and enjoy deathly defending spending money on the game: I can judge that you’re @chasecharmsnikki

So what am I smoking? 2 quick Google searches and the use of a calculator, really.

According to ThinkGaming.com, what seems to check out as a reliable sourcing for game income, downloads and such, Elex Wireless has 40 games. Remember that for later.Their biggest cash cows are 2 of them- Love Nikki and Clash of Kings. But let’s focus on Love Nikki for now since that’s what we’re interested in.

As of the available data made public at the time of this source being written (March 14 to April 11 2018) for Western servers (US/Canada most likely) The daily income revenue is $31,405. That doesn’t seem much, right? Well before you start going in the tags and writing me off, remember, that is DAILY on ONE server.$31,405 each day for a month (30 days)Which means 31,405 × 30 = $942,150Yeah, yeah, I know. Still isn’t exactly a million. But also, remember there’s 12 months in the year, that are all approximately 30 days long.Which means that in a year with straight daily everyday purchases on a single server:$942,150 × 12 = $11,305,800

Lemme remind you. This is one game out of 40, not even on the main servers that spend WAY more money, and this isn’t EVEN counting the amount of money spent especially on events that occur around twice each month. But if that isn’t enough, let me refer you to their other game from earlier.

Clash of Kings.

This games daily revenue is $50,033.

$50,033×30 (days in a month)=$1,500,990 in a singular month$1,500,990×12 (months in a year)=$18,011,880 ALSO not counting any events that may or may not be in the game or discounts/deals that would increase the spending rate.

So all together in a day from their two biggest games: $31,405 + $50,033 = $81,438

If we wanna combine the daily revenue on one sun amount then $81,438 × 30 (days in a month)=$2,443,140, then multiplying by 12 for months in a year = $29,317,680 AGAIN, NOT COUNTING SPECIAL INCREASE OF PURCHASES DUE TO EVENTS, DISCOUNTS/SPECIAL SALES.This is all on one American/Western server, which isn’t their target server, which in general spends less then the Chinese & Japanese severs. This also doesn’t account for the 38 OTHER GAMES that have in app purchases, and these are only 38 other games I can see that may be only available to the western server, so they may have even more games exclusive to their Chinese audience.(Like Miracle Nikki, and all the other Nikki games for example)

And also, according to my Economics & Personal Finances class I took, and to back check, several Internet sources written by those in buisness/ buisness owners, a company or buisness can call themselves a million dollar buisness by the definitions of:

1.) Reaching 1 million in sales for the year, month, day2.)The value of inventory is 1 million3.)yearly, monthly or daily net profit is 1 million.

Judging by the numbers, Elex Wireless & the developers are, as you do claim, aren’t a multi million dollar company.

They’re most likely a multi billion dollar company. In short: the simple math I’ve made proves that whether or not you decide to give them $70 for a suit doesn’t mean whether or not an employee brings home dinner or not. It just means you’re paying $70 you could spend on a physical dress you can wear, but you’re spending $70 on a dress in game you’re probably only going to use maybe oh...uh..5-7 times if the competition theme deems fit? So anon/@chasecharmsnikki the real question here is what are YOU smoking?

If taking asian characters and making them white is "whitewashing" then doing the same and making them black is technically "blackwashing", but alright then. Let's call it what you should've been calling it from the get go. Backface. You're bitching that there's not enough blackface in this game for you. Maybe go watch a minstrel show if you want it so badly.

You know, I'm sorry, but I just have to say this: you and all the people furiously agreeing with you have never heard of Daryl Davis, have you? Here's the cliff notes version- he's a black musician who spent 30 years befriending members of the KKK. And before you call him a race traitor or something, he's gotten 200 klansmen to give up their robes, and abandon their racist views. And guess how he did it? It wasn't by sticking his fingers in his ears so he wouldn't have to hear people with different beliefs. It was by debating and disagreeing with them. This is from an interview he gave to NPR; I'm gonna put the whole quote here so no one can say it's out of context, but also because it's just so poignant and true.

You Know, I'm Sorry, But I Just Have To Say This: You And All The People Furiously Agreeing With You

Listen up, because this is something the TRIGGER WARNING culture of today seems keen on forgetting; beliefs are not static. They are permeable and yeilding and ever changing. No one was born believing anything. When you were young, you probably believed in Santa and the Tooth Fairy, and when you grew up, you realized that was wrong- it was your parents who left presents under the tree and money under your pillow. When you were a teenager, you were probably involved in some trendy phase you thought was the best thing ever that, looking back on it, was absolutely cringeworthy. And before anyone tries to argue that those examples aren't the same as politics, THEY ARE.

America, as a country, thought gay people were mentally ill until literally a few decades ago. Now, gay marriage is legal. Every single thing that you're saying you SHOULDN'T be fighting about because people who disagree with you are wrong and that's final is something THE ENTIRE COUNTRY fought about until it was argued, passionately, and for years on end, by people who cared enough to change other people's minds. If someone was friends with you in the first place (though, given how small minded and biggoted you sound on paper, one has to wonder how that happened), it's doubtful they thought YOU shouldn't vote or have healthcare. If they were your best friend before political shit hit the fan, they didn't see you as some kind of "other"- they saw you as a person, like them. Which means they were capable of seeing EVERYONE like you as a person, like them. But rather than nurture that seed of understanding, you'd rather salt the earth and ensure all they think of people like you is that they're petty, childish idiots who can't argue a point because they're wrong. People might not know all the facts that you do. They might not understand the hardships of people who have different experiences than them. And yes, of course there will ALWAYS be some people whose minds you just cannot change because they are 5000% sure they're right, but that's not everyone. One man reduced the number of card carrying racists by 200 by debating with them. What have you all done by ignoring their existance?

White dudes have this thing where they believe your best friend in the world can have opposing political ideas. You’re supposed to be able to have healthy debate and disagreeing shouldn’t harm your friendship. That’s gross and stupid. Its really easy to say that when all your disagreements are theoretical. Its easy to say when none of the laws passed actually effect your life. Fighting with your best friend about corporate regulations, school charters, educational funding, abortion, health care, voting restrictions, drug laws, taxes and all sorts of stuff is cool and lively because none of it is going to actually leave you in a bad spot. Its different for the rest of us. I can’t be friends with you if you think I shouldn’t be allowed to vote. We can’t be friends if you think my friends shouldn’t have the ability to designate whatever gender they want and have that be legally recognized. We can’t be friends if you think I don’t deserve health care. Or if you think native children should be ripped away from their cultures and people. We can’t be friends if you think closing down health care clinics in an attempt to end safe legal abortions is a good thing. All these theoretical political ideas and lively debates effect real people, and I won’t be friends with someone who disagrees with me on them. Because disagreement means you don’t see me or a whole bunch of my friends and family as human beings worthy of rights and respect.

You do realize the person you're dressing up is an existing character, right? It's Nikki, a canonically pale girl. What do YOU call turning a white person black? Would you rather call it racebending? Expressing yourself is secondary- that's why the Starry Corridor was implemented months after the game came out; it's an extra that's just there as a bonus. There are plenty of little flash dressup games with nameless, faceless paper dolls for you to imprint yourself on. You're acting all uppity because the devs haven't molded THEIR character to your exact liking yet. If they want to have a character THEY created be a tiny, milk white little girl, that's no one's decision but theirs, and quite frankly, I feel bad that they felt they had to cave to the pressure of everyone screaming about "muh representation" in the first place. I'm dark skinned, but I neither knew nor gave the remotest fuck that I could change Nikki's skin. Once or twice I did, to see how the dresses looked against darker tones, but ultimately, it didn't matter because dressing up means putting on clothes, not changing your skin. It's not an issue with the game, it's an issue with people who think- wrongly, might I add- that they're owed representation. This game was intended for asian audiences, and you're complaining that their efforts to be inclusive to a foreign demographic aren't good enough for you. If you had a complaint about the way they ran their business or handled their customers, I'd be quiet. But you're not complaing about the inflation of the price for a carton of milk- you're complaing that the carton doesn't accurately represent ALL the cows.
