This is frustrating.

I love the comparison, but I hate how they are comparing.

They are acting like she is using optics to give herself an advantage. But the device she is wearing is just for comfort and essentially does the same thing as closing one eye and squinting the other.

The little thing over the left eye is basically like an eye patch.

And the thing over her right eye is a mechanical iris, like in a camera lens, but it is NOT a lens.

Different lighting environments are going to be brighter or darker and you may have to squint more or less to let in the same amount of light into your eye. Squinting allows the shooter to get the sharpest possible vision in order to shoot a bullseye the size of a 12-point Times New Roman period.

But if you have to squint for hours for practice and in competition, this can strain your face muscles and become uncomfortable. So this iris basically squints for you.

It's more like wearing comfortable shoes so your feet do not hurt than a lens magnifying the target and giving an advantage.

Both athletes have access to these items. One felt more comfortable without them. The other didn't feel like getting a muscle cramp from squinting all day.

Either would have shot the same if they had or had not used these devices.

Just a funny difference in gear preference.

I should also add, the Turkish dad is the only one using lenses.

He deserves some praise I believe.

summary: Aventurine takes up shooting in his free time and offers to teach you.

Aventurine's hand rests on top of yours, carefully guiding your hand into the right position.

"You'll want to use two hands for this," he leans close behind you, pressed up against your back. His voice softly whispering in your ear. His hair gently tickles your cheek.

While your dominant hand grips the magazine of the gun, Aventurine places your other hand underneath. He then wraps his hands around yours.

The closeness warms your body. Your heart practically leaps at the contact. It beats gently in your ears. It makes you wonder if he can hear it thumping too.

"Don't hold it too tightly now. You won't be able to hit the target that way," he tuts at you

"Right," you loosen your grip, but Aventurine's hold is still firm on yours.

"Next, you'll hold out your arms," slowly, he guides the gun outward so your arms are straight and un-bent.

The target in front of you is a large bullseye.

"Now, you'll just pull the trigger and..." Aventurine's softly and slowly press on yours, giving you a chance to back out or do it yourself. Upon seeing no hesitation, the trigger pulls.

The bullet lands in the center. As expected of Aventurine.

"Good job. For your first time anyway," he pulls away and playfully grins at you.

"You were the one doing all the work. If it was bad, it would've been your fault," you joke.

"Oh? You want to see me try now?" Seeing the challenge in your eyes, he pulls himself into position and-
