This is a bit of a rant and mentions suicide heavily so if that triggers you, don't read this.

I'm quite pissed rn. I was reading the comments on When I Was 16 by Powfu and Rxseboy and it was making me so mad that no one knew the actual meaning of the song. ITS NOT ABOUT A FUCKING BREAKUP.

It's about a couple that are 16 and the girl is driven to take her own life because of her awful home situation. Her mom left when she was a kid, her dad is a drug abuser and has a new girlfriend every week, and likely abuses the girl.

The bf talks about how he should've seen the signs and if he just reached out or asked her how she was that she wouldn't have killed herself. He also goes on to call himself a bag of shit and talk about how sorry he is too. And also he regrets everything and wishes he could've gone back in time and jus told her how much he cared.

Now it pisses me off even more because this nearly happened to my sister a month and a half ago. She nearly killed herself and I sat in my room crying for the next week because she called me the night before she ended up in the hospital and I didn't answer. I blamed myself for the fact she nearly died and listened to this song on repeat everyday because of how much I related to it.

No this isn't a fucking song about your gf dumping you. There are plenty of other songs for that, but this is for people who have actually gone through this.

I'm sorry if it seems like I'm gatekeeping or I'm angry for no reason, it's just that I think people need to actually pay attention to song lyrics and understand the meaning before saying how much they relate to it
