I'm having a hard time deciding what I want to keep in the Romeo and Juliet au. Do I want the Old-English-but-new-enough-to-understand ? Yes

Do I want Deceit and Roman to die? No not really.

Is it going to be time period accurate? Absolutely

Yet, another thing i made a long time ago that i really wanted to share. For those who wanted to hear sarah brightman's voice come from logan, your welcome. And to those who don't, sorry not sorry.

(BTW, i am not trying to convince you that logan would really be cristine from phantom of the opera. I just really got creative with this idea.)

West SIDE Story (Prinxiety) Chapter 4

Chapter One - Chapter Two - Chapter Three Word count: 1.7k Warnings: mentions of gangs, talks of a war council

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Virgil. Virgil. Virgil.

Only one word could circle his mind. One person. One name!

Virgil. Virgil. Virgil!

Oh, what one name could do to a man. He could practically sing. His mind finally cleared, allowing him to think. Roman had only now finally processed what just happened. He just met a boy named Virgil, and at that moment he finally knew that name would never mean the same to him. He slowly moved his hands up to brush his fingers against his lips. He kissed him. And how wonderful that kiss was!

Virgil. That name was simply the most beautiful sound that Roman has ever heard.

Roman ran around the streets of New York. Where could he be? He simply wished for him to appear.

“Virgil? Virgil?!” He called out as he went from alleyway to alleyway. Finally, he was walking through an alley, where a fire escape climbed up to the rear window of a flat.

“Virgil, Virgil…”

“Shh!”

Roman wiped his head up to see the very boy he had been looking for, sitting in the window looking down to the alley. A grin spread across his features.

“Virgil!!”

“Quiet!” Virgil whisper yelled.

Roman couldn’t believe it was him. Really him! Not just a figment of his imagination. “Come down.”

“No.” Virgil shook his head, but it pained him to refuse.

“Virgil…” Roman hated seeing him like this. It pained him to his very core.

“Please. If Deceit-”

“He’s at the dance,” Roman reassured, “come down.”

Virgil looked away, still seemingly sad. “He will soon bring Remus home.”

Roman practically begged, “just for a minute.”

Virgil smiled and suddenly Roman’s world seemed so much brighter. “A minute is not enough.”

Roman returned the grin, “for an hour, then.”

“I cannot.”

“Then forever!”

“Ssh!”

Roman looked at the fire escape and then back at Virgil. “Then I’m coming up.” He started to climb up the many stairs. A woman’s voice, Virgil’s mother, called for him.

“Momentito, Mama!”

“Virgil!” Roman called for him as he climbed up the stairs.

Virgil hissed at him, “calladito!” Roman had almost reached the top of the stairs, but Virgil lifted a hand to stop him from coming closer. “Shh!” He put his other hand to his lips, gesturing to him to be quiet. Roman didn’t stop and merely grabbed Virgil’s outstretched hand.

“Shh,” Roman copied Virgil, smiling as he does so. Virgil’s eyes shone with concern. He didn’t want Roman to get hurt.

“It’s dangerous.”

Roman held Virgil’s hand close to his chest, “I’m not ‘one of them’,” clearly referring to his ex-gang.

Virgil sighed, “you are; but to me, you are not. Just as I,” he gestured to inside the flat, “am one of them-”

Roman interrupted, “To me, you are all the-”

Virgil covered Roman’s mouth with his free hand. A deep male voice resonated from inside the apartment.

“Maruca!”

Virgil turned to inside the home. “Si, ya vengo, Papa!” As soon as Virgil knew they were safe, he removed his hand and turned back to Roman.

Roman was confused, “Maruca?”

Virgil chuckled, “his pet name for me.”

Roman smiled, “I like him. He will like me!”

Virgil’s face fell a little. “No. He is like Deceit. Afraid.” Then suddenly he burst out into laughter, which made Roman’s heart absolutely soar. “Imagine being afraid of you!”

Roman couldn’t wipe the smile off his face. He softened a little. “You see?”

Virgil reached out to touch Roman’s face, who leans into Virgil’s hand. “…I see you.”

“Virgil, see only me.”

“Only you. You’re the only thing I’ll see forever. In my eyes, in my words, and in everything I do. Nothing else but you.” Virgil sighed.

Roman put a hand over Virgil’s. “And there’s nothing for me but Virgil. Every sight that I see is Virgil.”

“You and me.”

“You and me…”

The pair moved in closer, and much like before, their world melted away from them as they kissed delicately. And so much conveyed in one kiss. Roman knew that something like this would happen. Some sort of miracle would happen. And now here they are, and their world had forever been transformed into a shining star. Then the voice of Virgil’s father called for him.

“Maruca!”

Virgil pulled away but stayed close to Roman. He moved his hands away from the other boy. “Wait for me!” He rushed off into the apartment to go talk to his parents. So Roman waited for his love to come back. Eventually, Virgil came running back into the room, which seemed to be his bedroom.

“I cannot stay. Go quickly!”

“I’m not afraid.”

“They are strict with me,” Virgil walked over to the window. “Please.”

Roman leaned through the window and kissed Virgil’s cheek, which made the boy blush brightly. “Goodnight.”

“Buenas noches.”

Roman whispered, “I love you.”

This made Virgil super flustered, and very much a deep shade of pink. “Yes, yes. Hurry!”

Roman started to climb down the fire staircase. Virgil stayed in his window and watched Roman slowly start to leave. Out of impulse, he called out. “Wait!” Roman stopped and looked back up at Virgil. “When will I see you?”

“Tomorrow?” Roman suggested shyly.

“I work at the bridal shop. Come there.” Virgil smiled slowly, very much excited to see Roman again.

“At sundown?” Roman knew exactly where to go.

“Yes. Goodnight.”

Roman started to leave again but Virgil then realised he had some more to say. “Roman!”

“Shh!”

Virgil realised how loud he was. He covered his mouth and then whisper yelled down to him. “Come to the back door.” The last thing Virgil wanted was anyone from his family or friends to see him with Roman. It could be dangerous for both of them. Roman merely smiled.

“Si.” Virgil grinned and Roman melted.

“Te adoro, Roman.”

“Te adoro, Virgil. Sleep well.”

Virgil leant back into his room and closed the window as Roman ran off into the shadows, just in time as Deceit, Remus and the rest of the gang arrived, still wearing their outfits from the dance. Remus and Deceit were still in a debate from the events that happened at the dance.

“He has a mother,” Remus huffed, “and a father.”

Deceit sighed, “they do not know this country any better than he does.”

Remus was exasperated. “You do not know it at all! People here are free to have fun! Virgil is in America now.”

Deceit exaggerated and mimicked Remus, “We’re in America now!”

Remus started to storm away from Deceit as the rest of the gang started to gather on the roof with them. “Ai! Sometimes I don’t know which is thicker. Your skull or your accent!”

Deceit started to coo at Remus and chase after him, yet Remus was still pissed at him. The pair moved around the roof as eventually, Deceit captured Remus is a hug by wrapping his arms around the other boy’s waist. Remus grumbled and yelled at Deceit. Remy decided to join all of them on the roof.

Deceit turned to him, “Remy, how was Virgil when you took him home?”

“He was alright. Dee, he was only dancing!” Remy argued, but Deceit was swift to put that argument to rest.

“With an ‘American’. Who is really a Polak.”

“Says you!” Remus pointed out. Deceit turned to glare at him.

“You are not so cute.”

Quill piped up from the back, “that Roman is!”

Valerie nodded, “and he works.” Remy sighed and nodded along with them.

“A delivery boy.” Remus walked over to where Remy was and away from Deceit, to his dismay.

“And what are you?”

“An assistant!”

“Si!” Deceit quickly came over to where they both were. “And Remy makes half of what Roman makes - he’s American!”

Remus signed. “Ai, here comes the whole commercial.” Deceit started to recite words as Remus mocked him for it as they had heard it over and over again.

“Your mother is Polish, your father’s a Swede but you were born here and that’s all you need.” Deceit stopped as Remus took off, severely mocking him.

“But us? Foreigners!” Valerie, Quill and Dom all joined in. “Lice! Cockroaches!”

Deceit got mad. “Well, it is true! You remember how we were when we first came! Did we ever think of going back? No! We came ready, eager-”

Remus cut him off, mocking once more, “with our heart open!”

Valerie joined, “our arms open!”

Dom shook his head, “you came with your mouth open.” This earned a hard slap on the arm from her.

“You’ll go back in handcuffs!” She spat.

Deceit chuckled. “I’m going back with a Cadillac!” The boys, Remy, Leo, Dom and Kenny, all chimed in with different phrases.

“Air-conditioned!”

“Built-in bar!”

“Telephone!”

“Television!”

“Compatible colour!”

Remus huffed and Deceit smirked. The argument continued. Remus and some of the girls arguing that their new life was full of opportunity and freedom because now they were in America. The boys, however, counter argued that America was violent and crowded, and full of people who did not care about them at all. If you wanted a piece of this world, you would have to fight for it. The gang went back and forth until it was time for them to go to the meeting. Remus and a few others had to wait back at home.

Deceit walked up to him before he left, “well?”

“Well?” Remus was like a parrot.

“Will you or won’t you?”

“Well, will you or won’t you?” Deceit got a little annoyed. Remus smirked and wrapped his arms around Deceit’s neck as Deceit wrapped his arms around Remus’ waist.

“You have your big, important War Council. The Council,” Remus peck Deceit on the lips, “or me.”

“First one,” Deceit gave him another kiss, “then the other.”

Remus breaks away from him, giggling slightly. “I am an American boy now. I don’t wait.”

Deceit growled, “back home, you knew your place.”

“Back home, you didn’t have war councils!” Remus shot back. Deceit just took Remus’ hand and kissed it, not breaking eye contact.

“I thought you wanted me to be an American.” He chuckled and turned to the others. “Vaminos, chicos, es tarde.” Dee looked back at his lover and whispered, “buenas noches, Remus.”

And with that the Sharks departed to go to Picani’s store, ready to face the Jets for the War Council.
