Foxes tend to be playful, curious, and scream quite a bit. Are you implying you want to not only see this in a character, but also a important character leader of a army? Interesting

YES

He gives off the Vibes. Easily could be a dog hybrid, but that doesn't mean fox is out of the question nodnod. There's the unwavering loyalty associated with dogs but there's also his quick thinking and cunning on the battlefield associated with foxes. BUT we also know that Yae Miko is a Kitsune so t e c hnically, we do have a confirmed fox hybrid. Comparing hers and Gorou's ears, we see that Gorou's are rounded with a point (like a fox or dog's) while Yae has longer, pointed ears like a Kitsune.

That being said Gorou's tail is more like a fox's than a shibe (the assume associated dog breed he'd be inspired by if he is a dog hybrid) in how it is rounded with a taper and held straight + down rather than curled. Shibe (with non-curled tails) also have a rounded, blunt end.

Buuttttt it also could just all be aesthetic and I'm looking into it too much. As I do hehehehe

That being said! I still think that he's more fox-like than dog-like and having him be more fox-like would probably be more amusing in his character as well for the aforementioned reasons you listed haha

wait wait wait there's also the fox symbolism where they tend to symbolize protection, agility, wit...yeah
