In the early days I feel like in 9 photos out of ten he’s trying to wedge himself behind the others. Like he’s either peeking out from behind Brian’s hair or he’s got his shoulder behind Freddie’s arm or he’s angled his legs so he’s a little bit behind Roger….that’s some soft shit

Also in the early days just generally giving off the aura of a kid who’s up past his bed time to hang out with the cool teenagers and trying not to be noticed so that they don’t make him go home. They’ve all adopted you kiddo, accept that.

It doesn’t matter what’s going on, he’ll always be smiling fondly at someone. Freddie is in drag and shoving his fake boobs into John’s face? Fond smile. Roger is an extra bitch? Fond smile. Brian is the actual worst? Fond smile.

Soft Roger things:

His speaking voice is so lilting and gentle and just very lovely

You expect his solo career to be all hard rock but it actually speaks of a very thoughtful and righteous view of the world and civil rights and is just generally not what we’d expect from our tenement funster

Him and John sitting around in bathrobes together before shows

He’s very quietly protective of Freddie now because Freddie isn’t here to defend himself anymore. He’s always been protective of his friends, but that only shines through when he knows they need it. He lets them stand up for themselves and when they can’t he goes to bat for them instead and that gives me feelings

His hair is in itself a soft thing

Also his early look of glaring at the camera all the time, but he’s also wearing floral print and has massive doe eyes and looks fierce but still very soft. Like a very angry bunny or something.

Soft Brian things:

His hair just swallows his headphones whenever he’s recording and he looks like a gentle animated fluff ball

Empathy for animals and care and respect for the natural world in general? He has such a pure soul?

That one video where he’s making fun of Roger and Roger goes “eh shut up” and he’s just like “okay.”

His relationship with gender and sexuality seems like it comes from a very quiet and at times shadowed place, but something about that is very human and very validating

Letting Freddie tote him all over London and make him try on new clothes so that they can match on stage

Writing songs about Freddie’s experiences so that Freddie can sing songs that he relates to, because Brian knows he’ll never write about himself but he still wants him to have an outlet for everything he’s feeling

Soft Freddie Things

He’s the biggest diva out of all of them but he’s also the one who finds compromises between everybody when they’re all fighting

When he and Brian had a big fight he made it up to him by staying up all night mixing all of Brian’s solos into a big symphony and then giving it to him the next day so Brian could hear how beautiful they all are from Freddie’s perspective

He used to have big Christmas parties and invite all of his friends who he knew were alone for the holidays and then send everybody guest lists so they could all get presents from each other so that everybody got the same number of gifts

Treating the cats like they’re his kids

I’m sorry but every single photo of him and Jim just has soft domestic energy

He’d always surprise Phoebe by asking to ring friends he hadn’t seen in years, and even if he lost touch with someone they’d never quite slip his mind

Hiding his teeth with his hand when he laughs

Alternatively when he laughs uninhibited because he’s feeling comfortable and happy
