“Hi, uh, is there any other way I can get another card for room 170?” “I’m so sorry sir, but there are only 3 cards.” The lady at the receptionist apologized to Vernon. “Ah, no. It’s okay. Thank you.” Vernon headed back out to the lounge area, pulling his hat lower. I can’t believe I left my hotel card in the room.

Vernon fished out his phone and dialed his roommate. “Yo, Joshua! Are you anywhere near the hotel?” Joshua laughed when he heard Vernon’s worries, “Didn’t you forget? Vocal team is filming right now, you know that right? Give me 5 seconds Jeonghan. Hey Vernon, sorry for that: why don’t you ask Wonwoo? He may just be awake.” “Alright. Thanks hyung. Good luck filming today.”

Vernon called Wonwoo, but it led to his voicemail. Sighing in defeat, he texted the Seventeen group chat, but most of them had responded with “We’re an hour away. Sorry” or “I’m not your roommate.” He casually flipped his phone in his hand, hoping that maybe Seungkwan and Mingyu would make his way back quickly so that he wouldn’t freeze to death, as the pool towels were not very big.

“Vernon?” He then heard your voice and immediately leaped to his feet. “OMG! My lifesaver! I can’t thank you enough!” “Wait, wait, wait. What is going on?” Vernon explained the entire story to you and at the end of it you shook your head, “I can’t believe you actually locked yourself out of your own room. I can let you shower in my room first.” You suggested. “Oh wow! You’re my savior!” You chuckled at how desperate he sounds.

You two boarded the lift and Vernon adjusted his cap. “My hair’s almost dry from all that waiting!” He pointed out. “You’re such an idiot. If I weren’t your manager and if I had decided to go to a cafe to rewind, I wonder who would be the first person to save your sorry ass.” “I know. But hey! I may be an idiot, but I’m your idiot.” He flashed a grin at you and you rolled your eyes.

“I should have left you out there. You sometimes really just don’t pay attention to your surroundings. Only such a person like you can pull off such a dumb move.”

“Liar. I texted you too! You greyticked me!”

“Still blaming me huh?”

“I miss you.” Soonyoung laid in bed as he cradles his phone next to his ear. “Me too. I wish I had you all to myself, but Seventeen needs a hype man.” He hears your rueful laugh and relaxes a bit. 

“Tell me about your day.” Soonyoung heard you ask and he rattled off about how smooth dancing rehearsal went, the food he ate with the Seventeen members, what he bought for you and his anticipation for the concert the next day. 

The concert was also the sole reason that Soonyoung opted to stay at the dorms which were closer to Pledis Entertainment. He had wanted so desperately to be in your presence. 

Soonyoung paused to catch his breath but when he heard nothing from your end, he questioned, “Sweetie, are you okay?”

“Yeah! I’m fine. I just...feel pretty lonely in bed right now. I want you beside me.” Soonyoung couldn’t see you but could already picture the pout on your face as you hug the big teddy bear he had won for you at a carnival. He had to bring your spirits up and he thought of a pick-up line, “Kiss me if I’m wrong, but dinosaurs still exist right?” A moment of silence passed and Soonyoung felt a little upset that he wasn’t beside you to cheer you up.

“I’m sorry for being unable to make you a little happier—” He then listened to your soft, partly suppressed laughter and a big smile was up on his face. “I thought you were really sad about me not being with you.”

“Soonyoung, you can safely assume that I’m smiling whenever I text or call you. Hearing your voice makes me feel a thousand times better, though it would be best to have you beside me. The bed is lonely.”

He heard the rustling of the bedsheets and knew that you were about to sleep. “Go ahead and sleep. It’s still daytime here.” “Mhm. But I want to hear your voice again. I don’t want to be the last one to end the call.” Soonyoung strained his ears and could make out more rustling sounds. 

“How about I sing you a song and I end the call so I’ll be the last one?” He took your silence as an agreement and begun to sing one of Seventeen’s songs: Smile Flower.

“그래서 눈물 나도록 고맙고 더 미안해 꽉 안아주고만 싶어도 왠지 모르는 불안함에...”

and i kept wondering what those songs were :-0

(kinda U P S E T about how little screen time they received,, but in the end it's still a meaningful experience for them!! since it's their first time at MAMAs,, hopefully next year they get more performance opportunities!!)

“You’re here!” Yeosang greeted you with a high-five. “When I heard that ATEEZ’s greatest chef were putting food on the table on New Year’s Eve, I had to come!” 

“My kiddo is here!” Seonghwa emerged from the kitchen and wrapped you in a bear hug. “Ah, hyung! You’re going to suffocate her!” You laughed when Seonghwa released you and messed up your bangs. ATEEZ was throwing a small BBQ party at the rooftop of their building and Mingi had wanted you to join.

“Yeosang, can you get some more chicken wings? Jongho keeps snacking on them like nobody’s business.” Hongjong snapped the tongs in Jongho’s face and said person ducked while making a funny face. “Oh, and get some more apples! Because somebody keeps trying to split them in half!” Yunho glared at Jongho. Jongho sheepishly smiled at you and you shook your head. “I’ll go with you!” You put down your bag and Yeosang waited for you at the lift.

An awkward silence filled the air but it didn’t last long as when both of you stepped out of the lift, a gush of cold air rushed towards you and both you and Yeosang shivered, “Let’s get this shopping trip over and done with.” Yeosang agreed and together headed towards the nearby grocery market one block down. You wished that you had asked one of the boys to lend you an outer coat because even your hoodie was providing very little warmth. You enviously eyed Yeosang’s much thicker coat as he padded ahead of you.

“I’ll get the chicken wings and you can get the fruits.” Thankfully Yeosang had volunteered to grab the frozen item, sparing you from the freezer section. A quick look at the hanging signs and you found rows of fruit. You grabbed 3 packets of 6 apples and Yeosang gestured at you to hurry. “Wooyoung keeps spamming me, that little devil. Here, I’ll hold this for you.” He offered and with a swipe of his card (or maybe Mingi’s because you swear you saw a “Song” on the card), both of you exited the store and headed back.

“Are you cold?” Yeosang asked when he spotted you rubbing your arms with your freezing hands. You rolled your eyes playfully, “Never felt warmer.” “Can’t do much then. My coat’s only made for one.” He retorted back, a cheeky grin forming on his face. Yeosang huddled you into the lift and he placed the bags of food on the floor. You must have been really cold to the extent your brain’s frozen because you closed the distance between you and Yeosang, pressing your icy face into his warm chest. 

“You’re warm and toasty. I like that.” You sighed and he momentarily paused, his breathing seemed to cease for a second or two and he chuckled. Yeosang’s laughter reverberated through his lithe form, “You could have asked me to buy a heat pack. I stole Mingi’s card.” “But guess who would complain about the chicken wings?” Your voice was muffled by his wooly pullover, yet he heard you. “I know that. Feeling better?” His arms snaked around your waist to pull you closer to him.

“Much. Oh? I think it’s almost reaching the rooftop.” You saw the numbers going up and reluctantly pulled yourself away from his embrace. A soft ding filled the air and Yeosang walked ahead of you and passed Hongjoong the chicken wings. “Dinner’s about to be served!” Seonghwa announced as he set up plates around the table. “Yeosang! You made my baby walk in the cold? How un-gentlemanly!” Wooyoung back-hugged you as San hovered around you and Yeosang reached out to grasp your wrist, “I was just about to bring her to our dorm so I could pass her one!”

You strolled alongside Yeosang after getting out of the lift. “Let me find something warmer for you.” Yeosang dashed into his room and rummaged through his wardrobe for his much warmer coat. He came out of the room and draped it over you, pressing a kiss on your nose. Your eyes widened. “You’re irresistible. I like that.” (He probably referred to the incident just now, but you didn’t want to say anything because you were still trying to register that kiss.)

You hid your happy giggles behind the big coat and he held you in his arms. “Why are you laughing like that?” “It’s nothing really! I...I wasn’t expecting this. Then what are we?” You peeked at him and he pursed his lips.

“How about very good friends that kiss?”

“I can’t believe this.”
