Mama’s girlfriend

Klee knows a lot grow ups, she knows her auntie Baba and auntie’s Baba’s wife, she knows auntie Amber and auntie’s Amber girlfriend too - she is a little weird like auntie’s Baba’s wife. All quiet and serious. - and one things is certain. Every grow up is weird.

Take her own mama for example. Klee’s Mama is beautiful and elegant, she is always wearing pretty clothes, smelling good and with high, high shoes. Every mama in Klee’s school swoons when they see Klee’s mama, showering her with compliments.

Klee’s Mama started to date a while ago. Mama’s girlfriend is very tall and blonde like Klee. She is serious and works a lot.

Some days Mama’s girlfriend will sleep in the house and the next morning Klee will throw open her Mama’s door to see Mama’s girlfriend splayed on the bed snoring.

Klee finds it’s funny how she can make weird faces.

The thing is, her Mama gets so weird when her girlfriend is sleeping. Mama keeps smiling and looking at her and Klee doesn’t have any idea what is going on.

Once she asked mama why she kept looking at her girlfriend like that and mama said it’s because her girlfriend looks cute.

Klee looked for a long while and couldn’t find anything cute about it.

It’s why she is kneeling on the rug, arms resting on the couch, hands supporting her head. She is watching Mama’s girlfriend sleep. She is splayed all over the couch, her mouth is open and she is talking something in her sleep.

Klee tilts her head and frows. She can’t see what is cute. Maybe she needs to look better.

She rises from the floor and inclines, face al.ost touching her Mama’s girlfriend.

She is growing deeply, still not understanding what is cute about her when blue eyes open and widen upon see her.

J: “ What the”

Klee tilts her head and her Mama’s girlfriend rises, forcing Klee to pull back.

J:“ klee, what are you doing?”

Klee smiles and shrugs.

K: “ just studying”

She doesn’t wait for a reply, just go to her room, pulling her trusted notebook and writing

“no news found”

She sighs deeply.

K: “ what is so cute?”

Klee keeps taking notes, she even stoles - just for a second though - her baba’s phone, ao she can take photos and records.

It’s a while later when she comes back from school that she finds her mama and Mama’s girlfriend sitting on the couch. It’s the middle of the day and mama should be working so it’s makes Klee pause.

Mama ask her to sit with them and Klee sees her trusted notebook in the small table and knows she is in trouble.

Mama’s girlfriend looks fidgety, pale and it’s funny how she bites her nails.

L: “ Klee, what is the meaning of this?”

Klee tilts her head. She could appeal to her puppy dog eyes and appeal to clemency. Instead she shrugs.

K: “ Klee took notes.”

Mama lifts an eyebrow and Mama’s girlfriend bounces her legs.

L: “ of what? Jean?”

At Klee nod she asks.

L: “ why?”

Klee shrugs again.

K: “ mama said she was cute sleeping and Klee doesn’t understand what is cute about it, so Klee decided to take notes.”

Lisa eyes widen and then she smiles.

L: “ oh baby…You sure took after me in this curiosity…So you decided to conduct a study on Jean, hum?”

Klee wouldn’t say it is a study but she nods anyway.

L: “ I’m kinda proud, I can see the future scientist you could be.”

Mama’s girlfriend looks alarmed but mama touches her girlfriend’s hand and then says

L: “ But, you shouldn’t have done it. What mama sees in Jean is something only mama can see.”

See?

Klee shakes her head in exasperation. Grow ups are weird. Mama said Jean was cute and now she says only mama can see it?

How can it make sense?

Klee decided that day she wouldn’t take grow ups seriously anymore, they just confuse her

Klee: MAMA, WHERE'S KLEE BUNNY BLANKET?

Jean: It's on your dresser, sweet.

1 minute later:

Klee: MAMA, WHERE'S KLEE KITE?

Jean: It's on the garden, baby

half minute later:

Klee: MAMA, WHERE'S THE COAL?

Jean frowns: It's on the pantry. Why?

Klee: NOTHING

1 minute later:

Klee: MAMA WHERE'S THE ALCHOOL?

Jean rising from the couch: Why you need alchool?

Klee: for nothing mama, Klee is just curious.

half hour later Klee runs with QiQi through the living room

Klee: C'MON QIQI, WE GOING TO MAKE HISTORY!

Lisa: Do you think they are doing something dangerous?

Jean: Nah, they are just playing around

twenty minutes later in the garden

Klee: FLY TO THE MOON QIQI, MAKE HISTORY HAPPEN

Jean: DON'T LIGHT THAT WICK, KLEE

Lisa: Klee Gunnhildr-0Minci PUT YOUR SISTER DOWN!

Klee: QIQI IS GOING TO SPACE MOMMY, SHE WILL THE FIRST ZOMBIE GIRL TO WALK IN THE MOON!
