reblogging this as someone who does exactly this
look I totally get the appeal of drawing the slashers as hanging out and being friends and what not but whenever I see Carrie included in those posts I'm side-eying them so hard bc I 100% imagine their hypothetical meeting as going something like:

This is so me fr

They get distracted easily :((
Okay okay so I’m gonna try to explain this, but of course take this with a grain of salt because I don’t know Jason as well I know other characters
While Jason is a character who’s original goals has been boiled down and changed heavily throughout the movies-I like to believe that his goals and aspirations have merely changed and he developed different goals- I still believe that Jason as a character hasn’t been mischaracterized, as developed new ideas and morality- I believe that after all he has been through and all who he has killed he just wants to be left alone- but that’s just my personal view to explain how Jason’s character develops throughout the movies
For the random guy Cowboy, Creighton Duke, while it’s true we don’t know that much about him, and he is just known as the Jason expert and bounty Hunter- looking at the original script we can find out why he knows so much!
As a teen, he was out on Crystal Lake with his girlfriend, and Jason basically killed his girlfriend and Duke tried to save her but couldn’t, so Duke vowed for revenge and from that moment on he spent his life studying and trying to kill Jason. He became a bounty hunter just to fund his work in taking him down and became famous doing that even though his main goal was always killing Jason for good
it is stated that he is in fact a very talented bounty hunter- and a very successful one, so basically he dedicated himself to learning about him that’s why he knows so much
Also the reason he broke Steven’s fingers was because, Duke offered to tell Steven what he needed to know to stop Jason, but such information came with a very high price.
Which does makes sense, taking down a threat such as Jason and finding out his weakness if very much valuable information
I personally believe he did this was because he wanted Steven to prove himself to see if he was worthy of knowing and taking down Jason, to see how dedicated to the cause Steven was- that or he is just a dick
Also Jason is in the movie! sure technically it isn’t the form we are used to, but in the entire movie he’s in it-just possessing the form of others to further himself to his new goal
For the actress of Jason’s sister thing I can’t defend that, that’s just fucked up and gross-
Its still Jason no matter what form he takes which is also stated in the movie
“Duke revealed that nobody knew the "true" Jason Voorhees, and the being that they believed was Jason was just a flesh suit; a surrogate body that Jason's essence took possession of to fulfill his goal”
Which he does throughout the movie, the weird eel thing is technically Jason’s “demon”-it doesn’t matter what body he takes- which I believe was their way of explaining why Jason is a immortal unstoppable machine, explaining the past mischaractism of Jason in the past movie in a creative way
Which tbh I kinda fuck with, I thought it was interesting concept to me, but I can see why someone would see it as mischaractism and not who Jason is, Jason goes to hell is definitely not for everyone and I am aware and definitely see the flaws in it, but I find quite a few characters in it likable and a interesting concept- although it would be better if they changed a few things I still fuck with it heavily
I believe that if you see it outside the canon of the original universe, it’s definitely a likable film with an interesting concept and take on Jason as a character
But that’s just my personal opinion, I still totally understand and respect your opinion- Jason to me just isn’t a character I am personally connected to which is why I don’t really mind the sillyness of the later movies! Plus the later movies have some of the best final girls and boys in my opinion, like Tommy, Tina and Steven! Which for me either makes or breaks a slasher movie! :]
the only canon friday the 13th movies to me are parts 1-4 and the reboot. everything else is just hollywood fanfic.
