this day couldn’t end so much better, you think. your friends and classmates surprised you on your birthday, you have received so much love this day, you smiled so hard and laughed a lot that you think that this couldn’t be so much better as it was while laying on your bed.

well, that’s what you thought. until your phone dinged indicating that you received a notification. sitting up from your bed, you grabbed your phone on the bedside table to check the notification. your brow raised when you saw that it was an instagram notification.

that was what you read plastered on your screen. this is very unusual. todoroki never uses his socials. you just nag him to make an insta acc so you can tag him with the pictures of the two of you.

and you never really think that he’d make an effort to post something in your birthday. not to mention, he already greeted you and even gave you a gift earlier.

licking your lips, with your heart hammering on your chest, you clicked on the notification to check what he posted.

and lord knows your heart just dropped as your mouth hang open after seeing his post.

the caption was so simple but the content of his post brought tears in your eyes.

it was a video of you. from all the hang outs you’ve been with him. be it inside the bookstore where you’re skimming over the books, your favorite ice cream parlor while you’re busy scanning the menu with a wide smile, you walking in the park your eyes wandering at the surrounding while rambling something to him, you inside his room busy studying, you inside your favorite coffee shop... it’s full of video clips of you.

and you can’t stop the tears from falling from your eyes as your heartbeat doubles because of the surge of emotions filling inside your body. it’s all so overwhelming. you don’t know what to process first. like the fact that todoroki really made so much effort in editing a video and posting you on his instagram or the fact that he’s filming you every time you two were together without you having any idea that he’s doing it.

the music he used didn’t do any help either. it just made your stomach flutter as you listen to the lyrics of the song. you don’t want to put any colors behind the usage of lauv’s paris in the rain song but fuck you can’t help it.

it took you five times watching the video to stop watching it. you had to put down your phone for a whole minute to gather your thoughts and to calm down and hopefully catch a breath.

but your mind is restless. all you could think about is todoroki.

that’s why you immediately went out of your room to go to his. upon reaching his room, you knocked quickly. chewing your bottom lip, few tears slipping from your eyes, you were hoping that he’s still awake.

and relief washes you when you saw the doorknob twisting and later on his door opening revealing todoroki cladded in his usual sleepwear which consists of a black t-shirt and black shorts.

startled upon seeing your state, todoroki’s forehead scrunched.

“y/n? why are you crying?” you could taste the worry dripping in his voice.

afraid to open your mouth because you might sob, you didn’t say anything and just threw your arms around him, wrapping him into a tight hug.

you felt his muscles tensing after your action but later on you felt him relaxing under your hold, his hand slowly caressing your back as his other arm circling around your waist.

“is there something wrong? why are you upset?”

you just sniffed, burying your face at the crook of his neck.

“you okay?”

you shake your head. still refusing to speak because you’re too overwhelmed.

“is this about the instagram post? are you upset because of it? do you want me to delete it?”

you immediately broke the hug to face him and to say, “n-no! i’m not upset about it!”

todoroki’s thumb wipe the tears on your cheeks making your heart swell.

“then why are you crying?” he asks. voice tender as always when he’s talking to you.

and it’s fucking unfair because he doesn’t even have any ounce of idea how much it affects you.

you don’t complain though. because you love it so much.

“how long have you been filming me?”

todoroki looks away for a second. you saw the tip of his ears reddening. then he stared back at you again.

“the first time you brought me to your favorite ice cream parlor.”

“why?”

todoroki placed his hands inside his pocket. “i love seeing you smile. i love seeing you happy. thought one day i’d get the chance to make you see how beautiful you are when you’re in that element.”

your lips went ajar after hearing his answer. he didn’t even fucking flinch while saying all of those things to you and it’s funny really how the tables have turned. you were always the one teasing him and making it your mission to make him flustered but he’s always had the upper hand because it’s so easy for him to throw sentences like this as if it won’t affect you.

still shocked and don’t know what to say, todoroki turned his head around to glance at the clock placed on his wall. it’s already 11:59 in the evening. one more minute and your birthday would end.

todoroki glances back at you. he took advantage of your state to grab your wrist and hug you. after being enveloped in his hug and feeling his warmth, you felt him softly kissing the crown of your head.

“happy birthday once again, y/n. i hope you this day made you happy.”

and hugging him back, settling your face in his chest as you hear the sound of his heartbeat you thought, yeah this is probably the best birthday you’ve ever had.
