Every time I advocate for voting people are like "no you shouldn't vote! Read this literature, it'll totally change the way you view voting!" And every single time it's the same fucking "you shouldn't vote because both parties are exactly the same so it won't make a difference who wins" bullshit wrapped up in some fancy language

I do not like putting any kind of political content in my social media, I have to foster a certain amount of separation or I will fall into a very toxic spiral of depression and anxiety. I have a degree in political science- believe me when I say I know what is at risk here. I hate what Biden has done, unquestionably, but as the gentleman in the video puts it, “use your voice while you still can”. Allowing another republican presidency is going to make everything so much worst, and it will happen so fast that there will be no opportunity to respond with any peaceful tool. At that point there will be little left to do but watch marginalized people die trying to fight against the wave of fascism that they’re already openly promising to enact.
All of the thought experiments, the philosophical arguments, and the moralizing will mean absolutely nothing when the leash falls off of the already heinous institutions of violence that our government has on standby to suppress any notion of dissent. Abstaining from voting on moral grounds here is no different than advocating for our obliteration.
