We are glad this step had been taken by our northern neighbour, even if it is a small one. With this step, it will now be easier to bring about a cultural exchange and evolve together with related groups for peaceful reasons. I realise it may bring resentment from the nuca, etok nuca, wa retan nuca (Russians, Ukrainians, and Belorussians) among others, but it should let the natives catch up more easily to the others in living standards. May a smoother journey come soon.

This article reads as a little snide to me, but it was the only English language article I could find about Putin’s consideration of Ainu as Indigenous to Russia.

I love that for Japan, besides furisode coming of age dress (3rd pic), she also drew outfits for both Hokkaido (Ainu attus coat) and Okinawa/Ryukyu (yotsudake dance costume)

(This short animation is cute and funny. Please watch this video.) As the first time I ever found out that the famous artist has another blog, I found she has more to check out. I do hope she’s feeling well this morning, especially since she’s one artist we should take the time to appreciate on a deeper level.

After a full year of work, this is the final result. My senior film titled URSA! It’s about a baby bear fishing for his sick mom. :3

In Niigata, A Quest for Unique Islands and Local Food | JAPAN Forward

Off the beaten path, Niigata is a great place to see how ordinary Japanese spend their holidays. From Niigata City to Sado Island, the prefecture offers much to see, learn, and (especially) eat.

Until my editor sent me this tidbit, I had no idea that this could seem like such a great place beyond the occasional descriptions from classmates & colleagues.
