How exactly is James's plain "braindead"? He's deciding to evacuate the millions of Atlas AND Mantel citizens on the massive floating rock that he can easily escape with and ENSURE those millions of lives along with two of the relics and the maiden are kept out of Salems hands. James wasn't saying leaving Mantel behind was a GOOD thing but he also understood that Salem getting the relics was BAD. The initial choice, neither side was WRONG I personally think James's idea was smarter given that Salem is IMMORTAL but Ruby wanting to stay and defend Mantel wasn't WRONG and neither was James. This whole situation is the trolley problem and I have stated this MANY MANY TIMES but anons like you chose to ignore that fact because you cannot stand the fact that some people like James more their your precious protags.
