You hadn't planned on returning to your room after a mission to find it half flooded. The floors were damp, your low bed soaked through, and the contents of your lowest drawers were wet as well. There was nothing to be done at this point, and most of your belongings wouldn't get much more damaged if they waited until morning.

So, grabbing the driest blanket you could find, you walked sleeily down the corridor to the doorway of a classmate you hoped would let you crash on their floor. You knocked, and were met by the familiar face of Inumaki. Thank the stars he was wearing a shirt, since you probably would have turned into a tomato right there on the spot if he wasn't.

"Konbu?" Hello? He looked up at you with worried eyes.

"Hi. Uh... a pipe burst in my room so... could I crash here for the night?" The request felt unbelievably awkward, but your priority was getting to sleep. Even if it required showing up in the room of your crush and asking to sleep there.

"Shake, shake!" Yes, of course! He exclaimed, motioning for you to enter and closing the door behind you.

"Thank you so much," You mustered up enough energy to express your gratitude, but that was about all you had left. You found an empty spot on the floor and laid out your blanket to lay down.

"Okaka." No. Inumaki grabbed you by the arm, trying to pull you up. He was strong, but you were larger and gravity was on your side. Instead he settled on pointing to you, then to the bed as you watched in confusion.

"Inumaki, no, I'm not going to crash in your room and take the bed. Anyways, my uniform's dirty. The floor is fine," After all, you'd slept in plenty of uncomfortable places. What was another night on the floor?

"O. Ka. Ka." N.O. He repeated with an exasperated tone. His lips were curled into a frown, and you had to admit, his full face was cute. It almost made you want to give in to his protests. Almost.

"It's your bed. You sleep in it. I will be perfectly fine down here."

With a huff, Inumaki turned to his bed and pulled off the blanket, laying it down on the floor near yours. He sat down on it dramatically, crossing his arms. "Tuna."

"Alright then, sure. But I won't move either," You mutter, laying down and turning your back to him. After a moment, the light flicked off and the two of you laid there in silence.

Though you were tired, you woke up in the middle of the night. A quick glance at the clock told you it had only been about an hour since you first went to sleep. Inumaki... I should get him off the floor. You thought sleepily. You did your best to move gently as shuffled towards his sleeping form, illuminated only by the faint light from the clock.

You lifted him up, tired body straining from the weight. But the last thing you wanted was to leave him on the floor to wake up with a cramped neck or back. Delicately you set him in the middle of his bed, sliding your arms out from underneath his petite frame. Before you could leave, you felt his hand grasping your wrist. He tugged gently on it.

You sat down on the side of the bed and he hummed in approval, tugging again on your wrist. Tentatively, you moved to lay down, and he let go of you. He made space for you, offering a small smile.

"Is this... is this okay?" You murmured, face flushing at the realization of the situation you were in. Laying directly next to the classmate you found yourself crushing on, the sort of situation you only imagined.

Inumaki only gave a tired hum, bringing himself closer to you. His arm moved yours to rest over his waist, causing your breath to hitch and your heartbeat to race. This is actually happening. Oh my god. This is actually happening. You readjusted yourself to lay comfortably with Inumaki in your arms, already beginning to doze off.

Awkwardness would have to wait until the morning because Inumaki's warm presence quickly lulled you into a restful sleep.

*muffled screaming* "there's no way y/n likes me back, there's no way." *sobbing* "what do you mean he does? no, he doesn't! he's so perfect and i'm just me...h-hey! don't call me an idiot!"
