For anyone who hasn't seen (me included lol), the verge has put out an article about KOSA and how its not as clear if congress will pass it now as multiple other bills are competing against it and legislators are struggling to decide which to back.

In short, instead of making a bunch of tech bros surrogate parents on the internet, instead it would invest a ton of money into actually going after and investigating actual child predators, modernize the cyber tipline, and do research on prevention/ detection programs, among a few other things.

So please, if you're American, you still have time to call up your reps and tell them you're against Kosa, which is good, but giving them suggestions like this bill is better

YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME

There's no WAY they're just gonna try and make the whole internet babysit kids rather than actually TARGET THE PEOPLE HARMING THEM or holding parents accountable

If this bill passes I may not be able to post here or on Youtube anymore

I may not be able to talk to my friends on Discord

I'll lose some of the most important people in my life

I'll lose some of the things that make me the happiest

This bill absolutely CANNOT pass, I'm literally begging that this doesn't pass

everybody go to the KOSA Masterpost and FIND A WAY TO HELP. Call your Senators/House reps, email them, reblog posts, spread the word, ANYTHING.

WE CANNOT LET THIS BILL PASS.

So, today I was on Reddit reading about KOSA, and I found this on r/AO3

Here's the Invest in Child Safety Act, it only has *five* cosponsors compared to KOSA's sixty-three.. wonder why..

Anyways, I was wondering, could steering reps away from KOSA while leading them towards other and SAFER bills help? :P

If these bills really ARE safer, wouldn't it give us a better chance of KOSA not being passed if we gave our Senators and Reps examples of alternative bills they could support?

Like, instead of just saying "DON'T DO THIS!!!" We could say "DON'T DO THIS, but THIS is a better alternative that will keep everyone safe AND actually be helpful."

I have a feeling most of the Democrats supporting this bill have fallen for the "We're protecting the children!!" farse. So, let's not just tell them the problem, but offer a solution! An alternative that will ACTUALLY protect children.

I suppose I got lucky with those first few KOSA posts, and I don't know if anybody will see this.. but it was just a thought I had, plus the Reddit post doesn't have a lot of traction either, so I thought I'd try and share it.

Please post this on other sites, on Twitter, TikTok, other Reddit pages, etc. I only ask that you cover-up my username :]

Reblog this and reblog as many KOSA posts as you can go on their website and contact your Representatives. Do it. Do it. Do it.

I'm so fucking scared about KOSA please people don't let this pass dont let these things be censored don't block us from our safe spaces please please please stop KOSA if I had links I would give them do everything you can it will save lives
