I Just Had The Most Idea-y Idea Ever.

I just had the most idea-y idea ever.

The Mandalorian Time Travel AU.

Din and Grogu get chucked back in time to the early days of the Clone Wars. Grogu is taken in by the temple (assume either he's different enough in the force and physically that the other Jedi don't question the two Grogus, or he takes the place of his past self) but Din is an adult and a Mandalorian, and thus cannot join him.

Now for this next part there are a few options. So the basic plot is that Din disguises himself as a Jedi Temple Guard. As for how he does that...

- Din just paints his armor the temple guard colors and tries desperately to blend in

- Din goes to a mandalorian armorer and has them reforge his armor to resemble the Temple Guards' after explaining most, if not all, of the situation (the goran has Seen Some Shit and honestly, why not time travel right?)

- Din conveniently finds the armor of a Temple Guard who was a Mandalorian

In any of these situations the kar'ta beskar and t-visor remain, can't take away those. His paint would be temple-guard inspired or identical to them. He probably exchanges his flight suit for one a similar color to the Guards' robes. He might get a little robe/cape thing. He still sticks out whatever he does though.

He already has a lightsaber (I know their lightsabers are always yellow, but for the sake of this story they might have separate personal 'sabers or smth), but he rarely ever uses it. The Temple Guards see him defend the temple from someone trying to hurt the padawans/initiates/baby knights and kinda just...accept him as one of them. They have a sneaking suspicion that he's not force sensitive, but the beskar (his armor is still beskar, he's a mandalorian after all) blocks the force so they can't really tell. I know they're supposed to be completely emotionally detached but this is my playground, I'm gonna play in it.

Cin Drallig is busy teaching padawans to survive in the war, so Din (unintentionally and against his will) takes up the role of chief of security. He's very good at it, and the Guards are left wondering why they didn't install motion sensors and other security measures everywhere before now. They want to know why they've just been using the force pretty much 24/7 to detect intruders. Cin is bemused by Din's attempts to avoid responsibility while falling headfirst into it, and fully endorses Din's unofficial promotion.

Din is still very much not a Jedi and also keeps having to ward off Mandalorians who think he's being mind controlled. In the process of this he gains a Following. Maybe he goes on a little mission and defeated Pre Vizsla. Maybe the Darksabers merge or one gets destroyed.

It's very late/early and I need to go to bed now so I'm sending this out into the tumblrverse now.

coordinated cosplays are cute but I think a bunch of people cosplaying the same character and then walking around a convention in a roving pack is much funnier

Read part of an unfinished angst fic and now my day is worse and will not get better until it's finished. I also haven't been eating enough and I think a combination of that and other bad health choices has made me sick.
