One of the best/worst part of 3-gatsu no lion is that I just get it. Like, Rei is the realest depiction of depression that I’ve ever seen in anything. Period. 

All of his movements feel heavy and slow like he has weights tied to him.

He often forgets to eat and stay hydrated. 

He destroys his health without even realizing it. 

He works hard, often too hard, and then goes for a week struggling to find the motivation to do anything. 

He always feels like he’s a burden to everyone so he prefers not to interact with people, even when they try to invite him into their circle.

The entire show consists of him doing ordinary, every day things. It’s all about his constant struggle to get through every day with his illness. 

Sometimes he cries. Sometimes he smiles. Sometimes there’s just a blank emptiness. 

Because of his emotional trauma he struggles with relating to other people and is confused about what the concept of family means.

He feels that he’s responsible for ruining the lives of the people around him (specifically his adoptive family) so he isolates himself as much as he can.

He’s not defined by his mental illness. Despite his difficulty in relating to people on an empathetic level , he’s still the most kind and compassionate character you’ll ever find. 

I just relate to his character on a spiritual level, and if I lived alone like he does, I have very little doubt I’d be just like him.

This show needs more attention than it’s been getting.
