Sherlock Holmes Is One Of The Most Romantic Characters In Literary History He Takes Watson On Dates To
Sherlock Holmes is one of the most romantic characters in literary history he takes Watson on dates to the theater and figures out which music is Watsonâs favorite and plays it for him on his violin and takes him on walks by the sea and through the park and holds his hand when heâs scaredâŚand still adaptations be like âhmmmmm cold and mean and distant hates everyone and tolerates Watson sometimesâ Like sorry that you donât understand love. Where is the adaptation that exaggerates his compassion and romanticism and affectionate nature instead of exaggerating the same boring âcold and pretty rude man who thinks emotions are stupidâ thing thatâs been done a million times??? Hereâs a Hot Take: making something cynical is not the same as making it deep!!! Let Sherlock Holmes be gentle!!! Let him be gay!!!

This is my favourite Sherlock Holmes story in every adaptation, and I still get giddy everytime the letters back and forth come up, because it's really just Holmes and Watson getting an excuse to send eachother love letters like the sappy old men they are.
Rewatched Granada Hound of the Baskervilles yesterday and Sir Henry knows whatâs what.
Note to self to visit this place the next time I'm in Manchester.
I was wandering around Manchester and came across a little pub/cafe thing called "The Granada"
And I was like "wait.... Is there a chance it's called that because it's on the site where the TV studio was?"
I need to look into it more but yeah, I'm assuming it is and that's the site where the original Coronation Street and Granada Holmes sets were.
things sherlock holmes has canonically done:
scrapbooked the hell out of his newspapers
put on a hat that was too big for himÂ
giggled
cried because lestrade was nice to him
got all sappy and romantic by smelling a rose
let a puppy lead him on adventures
âimpish moodâ
lit his pipe with an ember from the fireplace because he thought it looked cool
feel free to add to this
Sometimes it's so hard to choose only one aesthetic.
But you don't have to choose.
Go to the cemetery, by yourself, for no reason, and look for statues of weeping angels. Laugh to yourself, thinking of the doctor, and talk to the ghosts. Talk to them, tell them about your favourite companion, tell them where you would like to go if time and space were yours to explore. They have been lonely for a long time, many of them haven't seen anyone in years, and any story will enchant them.
Wear warm cashmere jumpers and long coats, run around the city, as if you were chasing something you can't quite name. Always keep a map with you, even if you never have to check it because you know this place better than yourself.
Always bring a planner with you, fill it with theories about BBC Sherlock and write down the deadlines of every new assignment. Cover it in writing, to the point where you can't tell one thing from the the other.
Find someone with whom you can always be honest. Describe the darkest parts of you soul to them knowing that they won't judge you. Listen to them talk about serial killers. Discuss queerbaiting in '90s literature and modern TV shows. And when you'll break down crying, as you realize you can't save this world, let them hold your hands.
Fill your head with stories, look for connections between popular culture and old myths. And when you will have achieved all of this, start writing.
And remember, always remember, that you do not need a story to validate you. You're already exceptional.
Being obsessed with Sherlock Holmes is so embarrassing like-- ok here's my favorite book character of all time, hes a literary icon, youve definitely heard of him before and now youre probably thinking of a weird detective dude with a silly hat, please hear me out the idea you have of him is completely different from what he's like in the books, please hear me out--
