now hear me out, if I had the ability that means that I could also control/speak to wasps and hornets MEANING I can make those stinky little pests useful for my gain (evil witch cackle)
also I would feel way to bad killing so many bees for a battle and it would make more sense to control such a creature that is much sturdier in battle compared to bees.
