then who? by heartslogos (T, 27k)
âLet me,â Kaveh would say with his eyes, his head, his hands. Let him what? Let him in, let him speak, let him stay, let him touch and see and listen â All of the above. Has it not always been so, the two of them like this, Kaveh and Al-Haitham? Kaveh: not quite asking, not quite taking. Al-Haitham: not quite answering, not quite offering. - Al-Haitham has been confined to bed-rest for a month. Kaveh assists. Al-Haitham recovers, they both do.
Asked and Answered by heartslogos (T, 55k)
It begins in the House of Daena, or at least, Kaveh thinks that thatâs where it should begin. If one were to trace the flow of events backwards, it would lead to this moment. If Kaveh were Al-Haitham, he would insist on going further back. Further. Further. Further. All the way back, to the literal beginning of all of time and creation, possibly. But Kavehâs brain only has enough room for so many creations at any given moment, and the works of others â while inspiring â historically donât get students passing grades. Or even grades at all. When thinking about oneâs relationship with their soulmate, it seems natural to think to a first meeting. A first introduction. Well. This can be said for any relationship. It all begins with that first brush â a name, given; a silhouette, glanced; a voice, heard.
the truest forms of love by heartslogos (T, 29k)
âNahida said that the moment you touch the seeds is the moment you must stop speaking,â the Traveler says to him, standing between Al-Haitham and the door of the simple, small hut that is to become his and Kavehâs for the foreseeable future. âIs there anything else you want to say?â The beak of the swan is foreign, cool and strange. Al-Haitham struggles not to flinch away from it as it slides along the side of his jaw, his cheek â imploring and fretful. One last and ineffective plea. Al-Haitham feels the warm weight of solid muscle around his neck, his shoulders â the fidget of wings, the beat of a heart. Al-Haithamâs fingers sink into soft feathers and the bones and muscles of a bird shift against his hands as he holds Kaveh close. What is there to say? Why bother to say something to someone who cannot say anything back? âStand aside,â Al-Haitham says, slowly lowering Kaveh to the ground. âThe sooner I begin, the sooner it ends.â - A story loosely based on the fairy tale of "The Six Swans".
house of cards by luminvies (T, 21k)
There is a scrap of parchment he'd created and abandoned all the way back when the two had been attending the Akademiya together. Sometime between then and the first month he has to move in with Al-Haitham, the list gets crossed out, scribbled over, crumpled up, carefully unfolded again, and revised. The working title for his tireless troubles: Ten Reasons You Cannot, Under Any Circumstances, Fall In Love With Al-Haitham.
âŠAnd how Kaveh falls anyway.
through the grapevine by katarasvevo (G, 3.8k)
Theories are passed around in the form of whispers: Professor Alhaitham probably said something that angered Professor Kaveh. Professor Kaveh, unable to let the insult slide, decided to take revenge by interrupting his precious class time. A prediction goes around that in less than ten seconds, Professor Alhaitham will proceed to offend Professor Kaveh even more with a tactless comment, which will lead to Professor Kaveh and Professor Alhaitham murdering each other. The whole class will walk out today without needing to write the test, having been traumatized by the tragic demise of the two professors. It is not a very pleasant line of thought, but it is sadly the only logical outcome.
In which everyone is convinced Professor Alhaitham and Professor Kaveh are sworn enemies, unaware that their relationship isnât at all what it seems.
the kĂŒbler-ross model on romance by luminvies (T, 10.8k)
Kaveh smiles up at the stranger. "Sorry, he's right! I am taken. By him. But he doesn't know it yet." What. "Wait, what did you mean by that?" Al-Haitham asks faintly. "Oh, that?" Kaveh scoffs. "You're a little dense. Obviously, I meant exactly what I said. I wouldn't want to be kept by anybody but you." "But we areâ" Al-Haitham trips over his words, trailing behind Kaveh as he walks purposefully through the city. "We aren't. Together. Neither of us has confirmed anything of the sort." Kaveh gives him a derisory look. "And what, we don't act like it? Some things don't have to be put into words to be understood. Ah, I forgot. Haravatat. You probably wouldn't accept anything else any other way." "It is not logical to make assumptions without empirical evidence." "You scholarly types," Kaveh mutters. "Always so particular."
So. Al-Haitham is in love with Kaveh. This has got to be somebody's fault.
Cue the five stages of grief.
The Fall by heartslogos (M, 131k)
In the third generation of Lord Sangemah Bays when all is but a dream, Lord Kusanali, from their divine seat in the Sanctuary of Surasthana stirs and reaches their hands to the sky. They arrange their fingers to capture a square of sky, humming and singing to themselves as they put the patch of star and moon and cloud through the divine calculus before they translate it into the tongues of men to be made knowable, and perhaps even understandable â and with great fortune, actionable. âSummon the court,â Lord Kusanali says, âThe Third Face of God has spoken. Hear the Word through me and make your peace. For the God Kings only ever speak thrice on any given subject.â The court of Sumeru crowds the Sanctuary of Surasthana. âThat which waits in the Palace of Alcazarzaray can only be absolved through a union of souls and an exchange of hearts, a lifelong journey that ends only in death.â Lord Kusanali translates. And then, beatific, âWhat you need is a wedding.â
set alight by celestialfics (T, 2.3k)
Since he was young, Alhaitham has followed a self-imposed, unspoken rule not to touch other people unless strictly necessary. Over the years, there have been two exceptions. One was his grandmother, whose side he would cling to as she read him books on the living room couch. She would pet his hair, and heâd lean into the touch, not unlike a kitten blissfully being groomed by its mother. The other exception was an Akademiya upperclassman named Kaveh.
transparent night by kurigohan_to_kamehameha (G, 9.4k)
âSir, kindly do not obstruct us,â says the matra sharply. âWe are in the midst of carrying out an arrest.â âAn arrest?â repeats Kaveh, incredulously. âYouâre arresting him? Youâre arresting him? Why, what in Teyvat has he done?â The Archon Rescue Operation is going as smoothly as it possibly can â that is, until Kaveh returns prematurely from his desert trip, and runs into Alhaitham at the absolute worst possible moment. Of course he would.
this is what happens in the absence of small-talk by pencanze (T, 17k)
Haitham and Kaveh, whose travels are leading them in opposite directions, meet as strangers in a caravanseraiâa travelersâ guest house. Because even opposite directions have a point of intersection or overlap, donât they? Some might even call that point a headfirst collision. And another thing about opposite directions: they still run in parallel, even long after theyâve crossed.
trishna by kurigohan_to_kamehameha (T, 8.2k)
Down the seventh-floor passage in Vahumana, past the statue of the sage Zolfikar, and behind the third door from the left; inside a small, abandoned seminar room in the Sumeru Akademiya is a mirror cursed to show the viewer their heartâs deepest desire. Kavehâs father smiles at him, slowly, so Kaveh can see it happen; the corners of his mouth quirk upwards and his eyes twinkle. Heâs moving, alive. Kaveh hasnât seen his father smile â not the expression itself, preserved in an old Kamera shot he kept in his sketchbook, but the very action of smiling â in almost ten years. An Alhaitham/Kaveh X Mirror of Erised AU
if they ask my gain from this worldâs harvest by patchy (T, 16k)
In the silence that follows, Alhaitham seems to interpret the end of the conversation. He takes a step back into his bedroom and starts to shut the door. âIâll pay you tomorrow,â Kaveh forces out, his voice cracking embarrassingly. The door pauses in its trajectory. Kaveh takes a deep breath. âBut this is the last time,â he continues in a lower voice. âIâll be out of your space by the end of the month.â Alhaitham pushes open the door.
The House, The Home, You and Me by sonotfine (G, 11.9k)
Alhaitham's books-hoarding situation continued to grow out of control. Kaveh magnanimously decided to offer to build a new house for him, with enough space for his ego and the books too. This was fine by Alhaitham. And, of course, he wanted it to be a house for two. -- On moving out of the old, moving on to the new, and moving forward together.
what it means to point true by luminvies (T, 9.8k)
It is biologically impossible for a man to replicate technological functions. As much as Kaveh (and colleagues) like calling Al-Haitham an index of niche and generally insignificant information on legs, he will never quite live up to the title. Here's a novel one: people must have taken to thinking of him as a human compass because they always seem to come to him when they're looking for Kaveh.
is that what I look like? by kurigohan_to_kamehameha (T, 3,8k)
Alhaitham grows a beard. Why? Who knows.
Three or Four (Or Possibly Five) Easy Steps to Living Harmoniously With Your Roommate by Bgtea (T, 28.7k)
The truth of the matter is, Kaveh has no idea how to read Alhaitham. He prides himself on being an expert at understanding people, his empathetic heart lending him the capacity to relate deeply with those around him (oftentimes to his detriment). But with Alhaitham, there is nothing for him to read; no clues from his cool expression for him to grasp. The man appears stoic all the time even during their petty bickering. Honestly, when was the last time Kaveh has seen the man do anything except smirk or frown? Does Alhaitham feel happiness? Has he ever seen the man laugh? Kaveh's mind is drawing a blank on the latter and it...bothers him deeply. -- Kaveh devises a plan to get Alhaitham to smile by being aggressively nice to the man (and also maybe if he makes Alhaitham happy, he can score a discount on his rent or something). Alhaitham thinks Kaveh ate some mind-altering mushrooms and is, understandably, confused and mildly afraid.
in weal and in woe by kurigohan_to_kamehameha (G, 26.7k)
âOh, right â Alhaitham.â Kaveh claps a hand to his forehead. âCyno, if you see him at the Akademiya tomorrow, donât mention this to him, would you? I havenât told him yet.â
âTold him?â Cyno asks slowly, a wary glint in his eye. âWhat exactly havenât you told him?â âThat Iâm getting married,â Kaveh grimaces. âI wanted to tell him myself â I suppose I do want him at the wedding after all, you know â but I didnât get a chance yet. You know what itâs like, trying to have a conversation with him.â It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. Kaveh is a single man. That's about it, really. or: the one in which Kaveh gets married, but not to whom you think.
the hypothetical shore by heartslogos (T, 10k)
When Al-Haitham was still a student in the Akademiya he wore his hair long. As long as Kavehâs is now, perhaps a little longer than that, even. But unlike Kaveh's, Al-Haithamâs hair was just as quiet as he was, just as cool â like a stream of silver water, fresh from the mountain pass. To this day Kaveh remembers the exact moment he thought he might be falling in love with Al-Haitham and that, perhaps, it might not be such a terrible thing.
de insomniis by liyuen (M, 32k)
Kaveh and Alhaitham live together. Nothing ever happens. Nothing ever hurts. But sometimes, when Kaveh watches Nahida idly finish her homework, he gets the feeling that heâs forgetting something important.
Kaveh must have fallen asleep at his desk again, the morning light hitting his eyes like a slap. He blinked at the soft green blanket over his shoulders. When he stumbled into the hall, Alhaitham was sitting in the living quarters with his back to him, soundproof earpieces alit. He had a stupid moment where he wanted to call out to Alhaitham. What would he even say? âIâm having some trouble.â âIs the blanket yours?â âYou were right, Iâm in over my head.â âCan you hear me out?â âHelp me. Please, help me.â Stupid. He yawned and went to stumble his way to the kitchen. From his periphery, he thought he saw Alhaitham turn towards him with a look like he wanted to say something. But that, too, surely was just a very nice dream.
The Importance of Interruption by theSealby (T, 8.6k)
Years. It has been years, yet it couldâve been yesterday they were sitting side by side, thigh to thigh, eye to eye, filled with a contentment that their future selves have lost. Maybe it would be enough to have that again. Maybe correctness has no place hereâhas never been the ultimate goal between themâand Alhaitham finds himself asking a very different question than intended. âHow would you like to come home?â â„ Alhaitham loathes interruptions. (All except one).
To Dream in Shades of Green by Intensely_Reading (T, 55k)
âThere are three suitors who you can romance in this game. You must complete all your requirements with one of them." âWho are the three potential suitors?â Kaveh asks warily. âYour three suitors are Tighnari, the blunt Palace Chamberlain; Cyno, the standoffish Captain of the Royal Guard; and Al-Haitham, the acerbic Duke of Vultur Volans.â There's a new invention from the Yae Publishing House that turns a user's dreams into light novel stories. Kaveh has the (un)fortunate pleasure of being one of its first users. Too bad it dumped him in a romance game.
The Theorem of Narrow Interests by lumielle (M, 36k)
Kaveh clicks his tongue. âWell, I hope you are also aware that with all these requirements, you donât get a set (A+B), or even (A+B+C). Yours is a set comprised of the entire Sumerian alphabet!â Kaveh has had enough of Alhaitham always loitering around the house. In an attempt to get Alhaitham to go out more often, he jokingly tells him to start dating someone. Much to Kavehâs shock, Alhaitham agreesâand promptly assigns him as his personal matchmaker. And even though Alhaithamâs requirements for his ideal partner are annoyingly specific, Kaveh refuses to back down from a good challenge. Heâs confident in his abilitiesâthat is, until his own feelings start getting in the wayâŠ
Precipice by viiparyas (M, 37k)
Lately, his heart staggers at a precipice, just one breath from toppling over. Into what, he doesnât know. After everything, after everythingâŠÂ He canât help but melt easily into the intimacy between them, whether itâs by his design or not.
Kaveh has won fame and renown through Sumeru, witnessed the dissolution of a corrupt government, traveled from the trenches of homelessness to the pinnacles of a fairytale paradise. And yet something deep between his ribs screams, more, more, more.
or, Kaveh discovering what he truly wants and finally reaching for it. (Spoiler alert: it's Alhaitham)
nazar by pencanze (T, 13k)
Itâs like theyâre in a globed world of their own, trapped within a glazed bead. Shatterproof, soundproof, impregnable and unbreakable to anyone elseâanyone besides themselves. (On superstitions, friendships, and other things that shatter.)
case study of the scribe by Jazer (T, 25.5k)
"The consequences of obtaining knowledge is the overwhelming feeling of loneliness. "
In which Alhaitham realizes that a peaceful existence does not have to mean a lonely one.
People keep coming to Al-Haitham when they want to know where Kaveh is. Al-Haitham would be lying if he said he didn't know why.
silviculture by sunsmasher (T, 13k)
Kavehâs face is bright, young, flushed, freckled, happy. Heâs wearing an Akademiya uniform and is as tall as the last time Alhaitham saw him (fifteen minutes ago) which means heâs an inch or two shorter than the last time Alhaitham saw him, because the uniform boots are heeled. Heâs staring at Alhaitham with the aforementioned flush spreading like dye over the silk of his cheeks. âKaveh,â Alhaitham says. âDonât freak out. I believe Iâve been displaced in time.â
spitefully yours by luminvies (T, 6k)
Dear Al-Haitham, I propose that we meet this Friday at sundown on the southeast edge of the city bordering Avidya Forest. This is a marital engagement. Please come prepared with your sword at the ready. With spite, Kaveh Al-Haitham sets down the letter, letting out a long sigh. After all, isnât the answer to dealing with domestic disputes not marriage? Isnât that entirely contradictory to the issue?
Kaveh sends Al-Haitham martial summons to sort out their issues. Unfortunately, he makes a small error in the letter.
The Art of Misunderstanding by Anonymous (M, 7k)
"Kaveh didn't consider himself to be vain. Yet he was becoming increasingly, upsettingly aware that most associates would disagree. Vanity, by definition, refers to an inflated sense of self-importance and pride in oneself. A vain person may believe themselves to be the best in the room. They may find it absurd that all eyes do not fall on them the instant they make themselves known. A vain person may put themselves on a pedestal, believing themselves objectively skilled in their field. And though Kaveh had trust and confidence in himself as an artist, he was caught entirely off-guard to hear that others thought of him as vain." ------ AKA, Kaveh misunderstands when he overhears an upsetting conversation between old classmates. His assumption is that they are attacking his character and commenting on his personality. In reality, they're talking about his looks. Everyone picks up on it, save for Kaveh himself.
Illness, Drowning, and Other Minor Inconveniences by EulerIHKH (G, 11k)
Faced with a uniquely difficult client, Kaveh is reluctantly forced to look for help in the one architect he considers more capable than himself: his mother. But soon enough, the turmoil of Kaveh's personal life begins to seep into their professional correspondence, forcing him to reevaluate his career, relationships, and identity.

PALESTINIAN KUFIYA RAFFLE!!

I am raffling off TWO authentic kufiyaâs from Palestine!! I know they are almost always sold out and I was generously sent 2, so I figured I would try to raffle them off and help a Gazan family at the same time đ€đ”đž
HOW TO ENTER:
Donate the equivalent of âŹ10 (or more) to Haniâs gofundme! This is a vetted gofundme (and a friend of my dear Elios @fallahifag đ€) and Hani needs help getting his family out of Gaza.
Once you donate send me proof of your donation and Iâll enter your username into the raffle.
EVERY âŹ10 DONATED COUNTS AS AN ENTRY (so if you donate âŹ10 that is one entry, âŹ20 is two entries, etc)
My possibly out-of-reach goal is to not choose a winner until Haniâs gofundme reaches at least âŹ10,000. I will reevaluate if that goal isnât being reached in a reasonable amount of time. I will use a random generator to choose two winners- you must be comfortable enough to give me a name/address to mail it to if you win. Itâll basically just be first come first serve for who gets which kufiya.
Please keep donating and FREE PALESTINE đ€đ”đž
My stance on Shuro discourse

me when someone posts another generic hanaki fic on a tag that is never updated on

I already wrote one post about kavetham but it was rushed, and also, I think some of the things I mentioned weren't canon. So I'm here again writing a short analysis about fictional men. Actually, it will be mostly calling out the genshin fandom out on infantilisation and feminisation of gay men or not stereotypically masculine men. (I might link down below some fanfics that I think do kaveh and haitham justice, so bear with me)
Before I even begin I have to mention that I don't play genshin so my perception of kavetham could be flawed. But at the same time when I look what the fandom did to them I can proudly say that I have a better grasp on their characters. Also English is not my first language, so if you see any mistakes please point them out.
Kaveh is a well-known architect who graduated Kashahewar with honors. Sumeru NPC'S describe him as talented and a genius. Many people wish to meet him in person. After all, he singlehandedly brought back pride to Kashahewar.
Fandom loves to diminish Kaveh's accomplishments and effords only to turn him into a loving housewife or an incapable baby man who needs a strong leader. To the people who think Kaveh would be stay at home spouse and would stop designing architecture, with full offence you are stupid. If he was hooled up in one place he would eat through the bricks like a rat just to get out.
To add to the stereotypes of gay men, Alhaitham is perceived as some short of cold sugar daddy. Mind you, he is very much autistic coded. Also just because he doesn't need help from others doesn't make him any less autistic. He is constantly dehumanised because he 'doesn't show emotions', many people on spectrum struggle with showing emotions or controling them.
Fucking albeism.
People love to antagonise Alhaitham in order to make Kaveh a victim which he is not. Kaveh fights just as ugly and viciously as Alhaitham. They are both to blame for the state of their relationship, too proud to apologise and finally talk.
I like to think of them as predatory cats because of the way they fight, claws, teeth. All that.
How many times a gay ship falls victim of toxic heteronormativity. Making one guy hyper feminine and the other masculine. If a man is slightly feminine that doesn't make him weak, dependent on others or not capable. Stop treating typically feminine traits or things associated with women as worse. Yes, Kaveh worries about his reputation, his looks, aesthetics and generally how people perceive him. It's not very "alpha male"of him but does that make him less of a man? Gender roles and heteronormativity is fucking sexist, linked to clasism and racism. So stop with this shit, do you really support lgbt or do you have some weird fethishes? Are you an ally or is it all for show.
Most of kavetham shippers are girls who insert themselves in Kaveh's place and in order to relate to him they make him ooc. Most of you have this fantasy of having an older man taking care of you which is fine but just because you have daddy issues you don't have to take it out on gay people.
Another thing I see people talk about is how weak and helpless Kaveh is. Mehrak weilds his claymore for him but that doesn't mean he's feeble. Why would he chose this type of weapon if he couldn't weild it? Also he works as a architect whose job is to design as in to draw on paper. He needs his hands to be in top condition. But Alhaitham is a scribe and fights with swords, well he also does the bare minimum when it comes to his job. Unlike Kaveh who puts 100% in every single project of his.
He may be nice but he has his own opinions and is not afraid to voice them. He is a very opinionated person. Who fights what he thinks is right. Kaveh would not cry if Haitham was mean to him, he would be offended. Because he is angry, he's frustrated with his work, his life, and past.
Kaveh is a selfish man. It's painfully ironic how by being selfless he is actively being selfish. His acts of kindness are a way for him to stop from feeling guilty, he's punishing himself by sacrificing things for the better of others. Of course it's not always but often enough, he does this without even knowing it. It's something Kaveh doesn't realise or doesn't want to admit. By being extremely selfless he hurts not only himself but also his close ones. Image seeing someone you consider family self-destruct. That's why Alhaitham is so frustrated with Kaveh. He does throw occasionally some jabs at Kaveh about the way he lives but it's never too serious. He does that because Kaveh doesn't accept help, he feels as if he was undeserving of it. Alhaitham is frustrated but never angry at him. He deeply cares for Kaveh, otherwise he wouldn't offer to live with him. Althaitam is very patient and emotionally intelligent person, he just doesnt bother with social norms and anything that is a waste of time. He wants for Kaveh to admit that all of his problems don't come from his misfortune but rather his idealism and guilt. By Alhaitham's logic if Kaveh accepted the truth his life would drastically get better. No matter how hurtful and hard to accept it, truth is the truth. Telling yourself kind lies isn't hoing to change anything. That's why it's so hard for Kaveh to pay off his debt. Giving away his money because he's such a 'good' person. It's hard for him, he doesn't have a support system. I'm pretty sure he never had one. His mother too busy working, rasing him and dealing with her own depression.
Kaveh is a renowed architect with years of practice and experience. Whenever I see people think he only desings decorative buldings that aren't practical my blood boils. He is master architect, he knows how to desingn buildings that are practical yet beautiful. Of course his clients pay him well. He is the Light of Kashahewar, people fight to get their commission done by him. He's probably very picky about them and the clients he works with and I can see him redirecting his potential clients to other architects from the goodness of his heart. That's a very Kaveh thing to do. He earns money buy spends it in dubious ways.
Also people froget he's batshit insane.
He's probably out there licking walls and bricks. From our perspective he would be architecture major. Those people are weird and depressed, spoiler alert they are as bad after graduation. Btw to people who make those tiktok vids where two characters pass each other notes in class, Kaveh would not ask Alhaitham what is the answer to a match question. Wake the fuck up. Kaveh is a walking calculator, literally. So what if in your au he's not an architect, then he is in STEM or just really good at match. Why? Because you cannot change all the traits of the characters in your au or it's becoming an oc.
Besides Kavehs isn't interested only in architecture but also in mechanics. He didnt make Mehrak but repaired it, which makes him knowledgeable in many fields other than architecture.
This is the type of a genius who doesn't drink or eat until they complete this one specific task. Thinking about styles of windowsills probably turns him on. He's brilliant but he's also a loser and self-destructive. He's smart but naive. Istg if i see another person making him unintelligent, I'm this close to blocking half of the fandom. One of Kaveh's most important character traits is kindness, guilt, altruism, and intelligence. He is the type to strive for knowledge to be well rounded, just because. Kaveh would read all the books about launguistics just to argue with Alhaitham. Hes petty like that. Also I feel like he wouldn't stop at designing buildings. This guy probably has atomic bomb plans casually stored in his room. A big part of what shaped Kaveh's character while growing up is not only his father death but his mother's misery. I actually think but his mother's misery. I actually think his mother emotional state affected him more than his father death. Lots of peopel make Fahrnak some antagonist that abandoned Kaveh because he reminds her of his father. Y'all just love to vilanize women, to add character depth to male characters you make female characters evil. You know who makes this type of shit content? Vivziepop. Shit ass content, do better. This is the same thing as the cheating trope in mlm when one male character cheats with a woman. Bifobia, sexism and fethishsacion.
I will add something ab alhaitham and more haikaveh all that mirror shit later. Actually if someone will remind to me to move my ass and end this I would be thankful really.

I need to get this of my chest. My parents have had enough of listening to me saying the same shit over and over again.
I feel like nobody talks about this enough. I'm almost an adult yet I haven't experienced being desired by someone romantically. I naver hold hands kissed, texted with someone or even had a crush. I kinda accepted that theres a big chance of me being aromamtic but just because i am aro doesnt mean i want to be. Theres nothing wrong with being aro but I want to know how it feels. How its possible that one person makes someone so happy, I want to feel that. I want to be desired, to have someone that appriciates me and maybe an ego bust. Idk about being in a relationship but someone having a crush on me or smh. To confirm that Im lovable. Of course I'm still young and have plenty time to experience it but I feel like it will never happen. I want to feel wanted, to have someone that cherished me. To have a deeper connection. Maybe the issue lies in me being unlikeable? The last time I had someone I could call my best friend I was in primary school. I have friends, I'm just never their first option. We mostly see each other at school, but when we do go out I just know we don't click. I sit there all day waiting to go home. I feel very often sad and frustrated because of this. I'm not seeking a romantic relationship but a platonic one. Yet I'm still unsuccessful in finding both. People say that you find love when you dont try, it comes naturally. That I need to focus on myself but when I do this I only see my classmates and family so where would it even come from. I have a big problem with meeting new people. I don't know how to do it. For the past 3 years I have been working on myself. Since then I can actually talk to someone without stressing out and crying. I signed up for multiple events in my school just to meet new people and it never happens. I'm so lost, i dont know what to do. In primary school I felt fulfilled because I was around people I genuinely liked. They made me happy, my life didnt revolve around them but they were making my everyday life nicer. Still we werent that close and we lost contact. We dont call, meet, or even write to each other. Some of them met their current partners and just gave up on friends. People prioritising romantic relationships over platonic are shallow and fell victim of patriarchy. It seems like by society our only goal in life is to find a romantic partner, get married and have kids. Even if it's someone lgbt who cant have bio children, people still expect them to find their "other half", because it's "how life works". I feel like I'm never going to love anyone and nobody is going to love me. I have this one closer friend that always has my back just like I have theirs but they're always so busy with other people. It hurts honestly so much. Like half a year ago we went to see spiderverse since and I decided to be bold. I asked them If I could videocall them that night because I had so many thoughts after the movie. But they said that tonight they had already made plans with someone else. There's nothing wrong with it but at that moment it hit me. They're always doing something and I can never make plans with them because of it. I value them more then they value me. I'm not their first choice person. I was also restraining myself from becoming to close/depended on them because in the past being too clingy made me lose friends. So why everyone has someone close and I don't. Why I don't have someone I could do matching bracelets with or pfp. I'm a filler person. I here just because not bc anyone wants me. I want to make more irl friends but I don't know how. I know it's not my personality or looks but something is wrong with me. I think it's because I miss a lot of social clues but idk. I just want friends.
being nobody's first choice is so emotionally draining
recently I got pulled into the kavetham madness even though I donât play genshin but anyway
the babyfication of Kaveh is SO BAD my god,, yâknow this trend where people make notes as if the characters were writing these? Whenever I see one of those they make Kaveh so dumb like bffr he would not ask Alhaitham for a fucking MATH QUESTION he is an architect!!!!
Alhaitham sees them as mirrors which means he thinks of them as EQUALS theyâre geniuses for godâs sakeÂ
the fetishization of mlm ships makes my blood boil
JUST BC KAVEH CARES AB LOOKS AND IS OPEN TO PEOPLE DOESNâT MAKE HIM SOME DAMSEL IN DISTRESS
Did he make some bad financial decisions? yes. but he did it consciously, if he could go back in time he still would build this fucking palace because he is as stubborn as Alhaitham
also, idk if maybe im delusional here but is Kaveh really this gullible or does he get scammed on purpose.
im so normal ab him
ur so right
the sugar-coating of ranpoe

as we're all familiar with, ranpoe is a pretty popular ship in the bsd fandom and is often said to be a very healthy/fluffy ship. however, fanon ranpoe is honestly an incredibly sugar-coated version of how they really are in canon. ranpoe is not the fluffy innocent ship people think they are, and are in fact almost as bad as many other ships in bsd. let me explain.
first, i want to talk about the babyfication of ranpoe *in canon*. yes i know authors can't mischaracterise their own characters, but that doesn't mean they can't choose to portray them through a warped view. in ranpoe's case, it's also the authors themselves who choose to portray ranpoe as a comic relief duo. like, the way poe commits (attempted) murder is so unserious? and ranpo (as usual) just... doesn't seem to care that poe tried to kill him? and encourages him to try again?

compared to skk for example, who when they try to kill each other it's actually portrayed with some kind of intense hatred and/or murderous intent.

of course i'll never know what the authors were thinking, but they probably chose to portray ranpoe as such with the intention of ranpoe being a fluffy crack ship. which is fine, because they're the authors obviously and they can do what they want, and this also gives ranpoe their own unique dynamic. however, the issue with this is that it causes people to be completely blinded towards what's actually happening between ranpoe, and only see them through the rose-tinted glasses which the authors have handed to us. hence, i'm going to objectively recount everything that happened with ranpoe.
around six years ago, ranpo beat poe in a battle of wits.
poe went into this reclusive state where he refused to interact with other people, and is implied to have been suicidal/depressed.
eventually, poe decides to plot his revenge by writing a novel in order to kill ranpo and obtain the praise and glory that ranpo has.

six years pass.
poe meets ranpo again, and tries to kill him. he fails.
they end up establishing a mutual relationship where poe writes novels, and ranpo gives him feedback. poe no longer seems to want revenge.
fast forward to chapter 80, by this time ranpo has asked poe for help regarding a lot of things, all agency-related.
one, ranpo said he wanted a showdown to trick poe into writing a novel for him, which he then used against chuuya.
he asked poe to write a novel in about ~30 mins to corner mushitaro.
in the volume 20 omake, ranpo also asked poe to write a novel to house 3 people by the next day.
ranpo asked poe to help him rescue the agency members in chapter 80. poe helped to snipe the lock on kunikida's cell, and prepare a vehicle to save yosano.
in the recent chapters, it was also mentioned that ranpo had poe write a novel to trap fukuchi.
based on this brief (??) summary, you can probably see a bunch of things which are not very right. first of all, poe experienced severe withdrawal after losing his match with ranpo, and for six years his only goal was to defeat him. secondly, poe is doing a LOT of things for ranpo, which aren't really reciprocated. there might also be other things, but i will just focus on these two.
1. poe is heavily reliant on ranpo.

as you can see, poe is a pretty fragile person. he lost one match to ranpo and basically gave up on life. he became overly reliant on ranpo's existence to affirm his own, and even now he dreads the possibility of ranpo dying and leaving him without a rival. and while poe who has almost no friends is entirely dependent on ranpo, ranpo always has the agency to support him, so he isn't all that emotionally dependent on poe. he still needs poe for his novels and such, but it's not often that he shows/says that poe is really important to him as a person. however, ranpo does clearly appreciate poe's intellect and abilities and praised him before. ranpo never praises people, so this is a pretty big occurrence.

in this sense, poe really needs ranpo but ranpo doesn't realllly need poe (or at least he doesn't show it).
2. poe does a lot for ranpo but not the other way round. i think this kind of speaks for itself tbh. poe helps ranpo with a whole lot of things, and ranpo doesn't give him much in return. obviously there is something wrong with this, but because poe is so eager to impress/help ranpo, he seems to have no issues with this.

as you may (unfortunately) know, because of the above reasons some people say that ranpoe's relationship is "toxic" or "abusive", but i believe this is inaccurate. based on a few dictionaries, the word "toxic" carries the meaning of unpleasant, extremely harsh, malicious or harmful. however, ranpo asking poe for help with a lot of things isn't done with the intention to harm or assert control over poe. he just really needs poe's help and poe is willing as well as capable. also, he probably isn't aware that he's overworking poe because he's not sensitive to other people's emotional needs or wants. and poe doesn't do all this because ranpo is threatening him, he's just very (overly) eager to do it.
despite everything, ranpoe isn't completely horrible. they're not the best, but they certainly aren't the worst. none of them seem to visibly hold grudges or have issues with the other, and are generally happy with their current arrangement. they share each other's interests and provide the other with the intellectual stimulus that they need.
also, the authors' "sugar-coating" of their relationship isn't completely off. due to the nature of their personalities, it still makes sense that they can get along. after all, ranpo was once held at gunpoint when he was 14 and didn't give a flip so i doubt he'd really care about poe attempting to murder him. and on poe's side, i think he's always been fragile and a little pathetic so this is pretty normal for him.
and even though their relationship is kinda unbalanced, they do hold each other in equally high regard (including ranpo, although he doesn't show it. he doesn't really show anything) this is also why i think ranpoe isn't an idol-fan relationship. parasocial relationships are one-sided relationships, where one person extends emotional energy, interest and time, and the other party, the persona, is completely unaware of the otherâs existence. poe definitely extends a lot of energy in helping ranpo, i don't deny. but the baseline for a parasocial relationship is that one person is almost unaware of the other. before guild arc this was true, but right now ranpo is very much aware of poe's existence, and admires poe just as much as poe does him. hence, i don't think ranpoe is a parasocial relationship.
overall, ranpoe is still heavily sugar-coated by the fandom and authors who don't really acknowledge the issues within their relationship. however the rose-tinted glasses don't completely warp everything, and their dynamic, both canon and fanon, isn't totally off from how it should be, based on my knowledge of their personalities. they're just a silly little couple doing their silly gay things. everything is fine (half lying)
thanks for reading đ„đ„
I really hope in the next chapters thereâs gonna be more development of their friendship also Aoi constantly mentions that she has something to tell Nene and it never happens, it makes me mad
Nene and Aoiâs friendship doesnât change and it makes me sad.
Aoi is the first friend Nene makes at the academy, so they have known each other for a while.

Nene is sweet to Aoi, she consistently worries for Aoi well being when she is in danger, and shows great care for her, sharing her romantic woes with her.
The manga shows mostly Nene going to Aoi for advice and just a girl to talk about love while Aoi engages with Nene without sharing her own problems. Aoi is guarded, very rarely open with Nene, something that over the years, Nene seems to notice to some extend.

But when Nene says âSometimes I think that she only gets close to me,â She is, unfortunately, overestimating how much she understands Aoi, most of her interactions with Aoi are with a friendly persona.
When I say âfriendly personaâ, I do not mean Aoi is faking liking her, her friendship and care for Nene are genuine, Aoi only have two people she is attached to at the start of the manga, and Nene is one of them. I just mean Aoi always shows off her cute and cheerful side, even when she isnât feeling like the âcheerful girlâ she displays, her approach is always the same.

Her words here are condescending as hell but she still acts cutesy and friendly: It comes off as superficial.
And a lot of what she says is pretty fake, just things that are what people expect a popular girl to say, things we know she doesnât believe in or relate to:

âItâs all about experience!â âwhy donât you date him just to try it out?â as if she ever dated someone, or viewed love and relationships as something to try out and move along, instead of a concept she is scared of.
But no matter how different from her personal beliefs Aoiâs words are, Nene always falls for the âpopular girlâ idea.

Nene is confident Aoi is the popular girl everyone loves.
She always pictures Aoi with a cute smile, oblivious in her throne, able to get any guy she wants.

And yet, even with that mental image, Nene doesnât know what being popular really means.
When Aoi visits the stage, Nene is confused as to why she would ever go here.

Akane is the one who gives Nene an exposition on Aoi, dropping hints that her life is not a sea of roses.

Unfortunately, when Nene hears this, she ignores that her friend was put in situations where she was pressured to do things she doesnât want to and needed to be protected, or how Akane looks troubled that these confessions are a recurring thing: She focused instead on Akaneâs devotion.
Neneâs fantasies of popularity are sugar coated, a throne with no problems, so she subconsciously undermines Aoiâs troubles and focuses on Akaneâs behavior, which fits in her personal reality that being popular is amazing and âBoys will do anything for Aoi, she is so desirable!â

Attention is attention, and since Aoi gets lots of attention, Nene puts Aoi on a pedestal: Give her a life devoid of issues.
Her view is in part Aoiâs fault.
There is truth to what Akane said here:

Nene doesnât ask about Aoiâs life, or go in dept about her own, but Aoi is the one that consistently plays along, she is the one that keeps the focus on superficial topics and only shows Nene her cheerful and cutesy side. It makes their interactions feel empty: there isnât a single instance in the manga where they have a talk that isnât about boys, or school rumors, which are always used to move the plot along, not expand on the basis of their established friendship.
There is a mutual lack of interest to change what they have: Nene because she is content with the way things are and see no need for change, and Aoi because she is Aoi.

With Neneâs view of Aoi in mind, the lack of depth in their interactions, and Aoiâs playing along with the cheerful popular persona, I am not surprised Nene didnât notice there was something weird with Aoi on the sacrifice arc.
Of course Aoi is so chirpy and playful after being kidnapped by a demon, nothing can phase her! Of course she knows the exit, thatâs a popular girl for you!

Nene is being genuine here, she fully trusted her words and reasonings.

The cute and smart Aoi is the only Aoi she knows well, so unlike Akane, Nene fell in the hole.

Somehow, something as big as this betrayal doesnât change her view on Aoi.
Nene does not spare a single panel to wonder what drove Aoi to act like this. The only Aoi focused thought we get outside a chapter recap is âSumire looks like Aoi.â

Which clearly has the âcute girl everyone canât help but loveâ in mind.
When she does think about Aoi in the severance/rescue arc is always about the lifespan dilemma, not Aoiâs betrayal or why she acted like that.
Her view hasnât changed in the slightest, just look at the way she talks about Aoi with Katakuri in the red house.

And we know thatâs not true.
It was never true.

Nene is still her friend however, she may be oblivious to a lot but she has been by Aoiâs side for years, so she knows more about Aoi than an average person would. She noticed Aoi genuinely loves and is proud of her plants.

She also knows Aoi has a crush on Akane and the knowledge made her discard him from being a possible crush option despite once upon a time finding him cute and worthy of dating.

Nene values their friendship more than any crush: Notice how Akane doesnât show up on âNeneâs typeâ list at all instead of dropping to ânot her typeâ, subconsciously deciding he is not an option. Aoiâs feelings are more important.

This genuine care and loyalty make the way she overestimates how much she knows Aoi and refuses to change her views very sad.
Nene is so sure they are close and she gets Aoi, that she doesnât understand that the Aoi she knows, who treasures her and loves plants and can feel distant, is just a fraction of the real Aoi.
Nene consistently covers her eyes when Aoi acts out of her persona and shows slivers of personal problems

She canât process that her âuniversally lovedâ best friend Aoi, and the Aoi that threw her in the trash are the same people. To Nene, the cruel one was a brainwashed fake. Thatâs it. There is nothing else to it, no reason to think about it.
Which is not true.

We never get hints that imply the drug made Aoi do something against her will. Even after she completely snap out of the drug effect, Aoi owns her actions. She regrets it, deeply, but she also connects with it: She knows herself.
Itâs because Aoi wasnât faking it that she was so scared to apologize to Nene in the first place. She is shaking and anxious because it was her, an ugly part of her she isnât fond of, but still a part of her: Still Aoi.

Nene saw her more unpleasant side. That terrifies Aoi.
This fear that Nene will hate her once she realizes who she is have been around for a while.
One of the few times Aoi was vulnerable and honest with Nene was in chapter 29, when she assumed Nene avoided her on purpose, because she âsuddenlyâ decided to hate Aoi.

When Nene heard this she is distressed, she genuinely doesnât like seeing her friend sad, but there is no âI wonder why Aoi would think that?â, no matter how unusual this insecurity is from Aoiâs âoblivious in her throneâ image, Nene doesnât question it. We arenât shown a single panel of Nene thinking about it: They still donât have a talk that is about themselves.
But we are shown her thinking about the way Aoi makes peopleâs hearts race, which happened only two pages later, but is something Nene can easily fit into her established view on Aoi.Â
To Neneâs credit, Aoi is clearly trying to distract Nene from her moment of vulnerability here, but itâs sad that it works so well.

âIs this a popular girl skill?â Aoiâs personal mannerisms, no matter how distinct are always connected to that of a âpopular girlâ in Neneâs head. Is not judgemental or malicious, but it shows âpopular girlâ and âmy best friend Aoiâ are interconnected in her head.
âIs this how you win men over, Aoi?â She doesnât even suspect that Aoi isnât a fan of all this attention, that unlike her, Aoi doesnât try to âwin overâ any of the boys, itâs never something she aimed for.
Aoi is aware of Neneâs simple view of her. Itâs why she wasnât honest in chapter 96.
We all noticed how scared she was of Neneâs reaction, she even flinched when she went to apologize

But Nene doesnât ask for an explanation of why Aoi did it, she doesnât address what happened, truly just chalking Aoiâs actions as âNot Aoiâ and being done with this.
So Aoi doesnât address it either.

Aoi is super relieved and happy that she isnât outright hated.
She doesnât go over her emotions about the events, you can feel Aoiâs walls coming back: She falls back to her friendly and cute persona.

She wasnât putting hearts and flowers in her speech before her apology to Nene.

And Aoi may be naturally cute, a girl that enjoys cute clothes and using cute speech, but she never talks with hearts and flowers when she is vulnerable and honest about her feelings.
We can see how her speech ties with her vulnerability best when she talk cutely with Hanako on the far shore train to distract herself from her bleak situation, but the moment she shares her honest view on Akane her tone change, she drops it.

Aoi is genuinely happy that Nene still sees her as a friend, but when she say she is fine on chapter 96, she goes over the events without adding any personal thoughts, and change the topic the moment she finish giving exposition. Something Nene accepts and doesnât question further.
Once more, their talk feels superficial.

Akane behavior changed drastically after Aoiâs rescue (no confessions, no compliments every second, more physical contact, and so on,) because he confronted her, forced Aoi to open up, and listened to what was the problem, doing his best to adapt accordingly: He took her off her pedestal while still showing her the attention and affection she craves.
Neneâs behavior is exactly the same because she likes what they have, and she sees no problem: Aoi is the same Aoi as always or âThe Aoi she knowsâ, so she is also the same Nene as always.Â
She truly considers Aoi a dear friend, but an unchanging one.

She blinds herself to Aoiâs problems, so she canât confront Aoi, and Aoi is too cowardly to have an honest talk with Nene that she is convinced could lead to Nene hating her.
They are in a stalemate where Aoi canât be completely honest with Nene (with far more than Aoi losing feeling in her right hand) and I hope something changes.
WHY PEOPLE DONT TALK AB THEM MORE THEY DESERVE IT!!!!

Anyway, a post on the relationship between Atsushi Nakajima and Lucy Maud Montgomery and why I think Lucyâs feelings for Atsushi are explicitly coded as romantic, and why they play off of each other really well.Â

Let's hope Zane isn't too jealous! You remember what happened the last time someone was jealous of you! *sad trombone noise*
I wish I could read while stormbringer,, I only found translations up to chapter 2
praying every day stormbringer will be adapted into anime (NOT as a 3-4 ep beginner, give me a full adaptation pls & thanks) not even because chuuya or dazai but people need to know VERLAINE the rawest character ever while also being the most pathetic. like fyodor thought he did something playing his cello and saying "blessed be the children" while making a kid blow himself up?? pfft. the very FIRST thing we know of verlaine is he would've assassinated the queen of england at her coronation if she had actually shown up and not let a body double be in place. and he just did it because it was a challenge?? unbelievably based. then he showed up, easily bested chuuya in a fight of gravity, knocked him so hard against a window it cracked then said "aww, little bro, you're too thin, if you don't eat more brother's gonna be worried"? goes hard as hell. waxing soft poetics about comets and loneliness while showing chuuya the corpse of his friend? insane. told a super-skeleton "i'll put you in a place where you can see the stars while sleeping" while kicking its ass? raw shit. "sometimes it is more evil to let live than to kill"? BANGER. N escaped in a lift and he dragged it down by the cable with his bare hands expressionlessly? cool af. a brat (read: dazai) told him he already grasped the extent of verlaine's power so he flexed by blasting a hole from 100 feet underground to the surface? FUCKING RAW. brought N up to the top of a crane then when N begged him to let him down, said "can't you just walk? đ€š" while pulling out a pear to chomp on? funniest mf.
and YET
and yet... the very same man was so in over his head that he never realised his savior, mentor, best friend, partner for years was in love with him whether hes human or not like "rimbaud would never lie to me" "it was an honour to be his best friend" "but i... didnt like him"????? make it make sense?? and then only realising his feelings when rimbaud is long dead so he decided to lock himself in a basement forever. its been 6 years now. pathetic.
#ur so right
I saw a rant about how the back and forth between Fyodor and Dazai is ridiculous at this point and like. I think thatâs the point. The point is that one is not actually superior to the other in regards to intellect so they are ALWAYS going to be stuck in this cycle of âwell I thought of/planned/predicted that!â.
The difference is in their connections and what those connections are made of. I find it fascinating actually that Fyodor thinks heâs won because he STOLE gravity away from Dazai and claimed Dazai didnât even know how to use it when he had it! The thing is though, Chuuya doesnât seem to be under Fyodorâs control anymore and he hasnât ever chosen the people who try to use him like an object over Dazai. And despite the four years of separation (which was longer than their time together) he always came when Dazai expected him to.
And Iâm thinking he expects him to now which would ultimately be what tips the scale in Dazaiâs favor. Because where Fyodor sees a tool Dazai sees his partner. Iâm also thinking Chuuya isnât the only key to success here and that was why he chose Sigma too (if the points where he thinks about the ADA not using each other is any sort of foreshadowing).

Who will win?
