You are my muse were the very magic words that tied your mother and father’s destinies together.

The food here sucks was the key phrase that led your brother-in-law to cementing his future with your second oldest sister.

You’ve seen and heard of many different soul brandings, some ranging from short little random phrases etched on their arms to lengthier, more specific sentences, sometimes even poems. Some were just so beautiful, the kind that could easily tug on the heartstrings of many. Thank you for being my anchor throughout the storm. Or without you, I wouldn’t have made it this far. Without you, I wouldn’t be here. But others were just straight up ridiculous. If you eat the last croissant, I’m going to scream. Or I broke your mom’s favorite lamp - on a scale from 1 to “just end me now,” how angry will she be?

There was a time many years ago when your father spent countless nights writing and composing a song for a fair maiden who had stolen his heart from a distance. Although they had exchanged several brief conversations in passing, he never thought she’d notice him otherwise, not when she always seemed to have a throng of suitors containing her within a suffocating cocoon at all times. But one fateful day, his sweet melody lulled her away from the crowd and towards the piano across the room, her body naturally leaning against the dated wooden instrument as she admired his fingers effortlessly dancing along the black and white keys.

“That is the most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard.” 

He described that moment to you, that unforgettable, unmistakable sensation, as a sudden bolt of warmth blooming from within his forearm beneath the tattooed words on his skin, traveling up through his veins and vibrating throughout his entire body at the sound of that specific phrase falling from her lips. He knew right away what was happening but still continued to play as if nothing out of the ordinary were happening, filling the entire room with his uninterrupted aria.   

When she had asked him what song he was playing, it was then that he finally confessed that he had wrote it for her, that her beauty, her warm, caressing laughter, the twinkle in her eye, the very essence of her being, inspired this piece - her and her alone. Your mother apparently turned as red as a tomato, her heart pounding mercilessly against her chest, her fingers trembling to accompany the restless anticipation swirling in her stomach. It was a lovely moment, and yet she was completely unaware that your father’s next words would forever change the course of her life. 

“You are my muse.” 

The rest is history.

The barest traces of pale pink lipstick grace your lips, and faint shimmery eye shadow lay on your eyelids. Mascara is placed on your eyelashes carefully, and the slightest hint of blush is applied to the apples of your cheeks.

And yet, under all that, there it is.

The naturally glowing look of a blushing bride.

You spin around in front of the three-way mirror, surrounded by your chattering bridesmaids and your mother, but the only thing you can hear is the increasing thudding of your heartbeat. Today is going to be the happiest day of your life, the day you officially start the next chapter in your story with your beloved, the day you become Mrs. Min.

Today is going to be your day.

“I’m sorry” were the last words you could ever remember him telling you. 

That day you were so fired up with feelings of anticipation and excitement; it was only a few days before your boyfriend was to debut after all. For as long as you could remember, music always had such a strong grasp on Yoongi’s heart. He practically breathed music, hell he probably was made of music itself. 

You had always known about how his parents didn’t take too kindly of his passion for music, but you had always been there for him. You, along with his older brother, were the only support he had until he auditioned for an entertainment company called BigHit. Although he placed second in his audition, he still managed to grab a spot as a trainee. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration if you were to claim that you were beyond ecstatic. You were practically bouncing off the walls when Yoongi had told you that he had made it. 

You both knew what it meant for your relationship when he became a trainee. He had to work hard and spend most of his time moving towards his dream. This meant less time spent with you, but you knew how much this meant to him. You loved him so much that you prepared yourself for the lack of dates, the lack of communication, the lack of affection shown towards one another. You prepared yourself because you wanted him to fulfil his dream, even if it meant putting a strain on your relationship.
