Running a supers game right now and the players got to have this discussion. A little less passive aggressive than this.

Dirty Gamer Girls
Is is just me or would this make like, a great movie?
Like, not only do you have the traveling the world, and hunting down the hidden monsters in fantastic locations, but you have to stake them out. This is pre-photography so the world is all wild and you have that rustic gear, but beyond that, those books always have multiple images and a whole entry. This cousin’s not just finding the the thing, but setting up camp, talking to locals, and studying its habits...without getting eaten by the damn things.
Course, just the spectacle isn’t enough; you need a conflict, a story but this isn’t the person fighting monsters; its about uncovering knowledge and discovery and seeing beautiful dangerous things and passing on the experience to others.
So you could go with the standard protege story with some shmuck stumbles across something and nearly gets eaten, but is saved by the chronicler at the last moment and they escape in a thrilling chase. Then they’re village is ravaged, so they tag along on the next couple expeditions and learn to track and draw, and read through the volume thats being written. And they have the whole discussion about how these are monsters and the family is just going to use this information to hunt them, but the thats not who the chronicler is; they know it may be used to destroy the creatures, but they get to see them and understand them and appreciate them. Learn things no one has, see things no one has, expand human knowledge. Thats what keeps them going.
And can have the dramatic finale, where the original chronicler sacrifices themself so the apprentice with the book can escape and make sure the book doesn’t get lost, and they take up the mantle, cause *they understand now* and *it needs to be done* and such.
And awesome monsters!
How do monster hunters in movies always have really well illustrated books about the things they hunt?
They’re a secret family organization trained from a young age-
All except that weird cousin, who went to art school?
