I hope, now that it is all over, that Jonathan is able to go back to the village and thank the woman who gave him the crucifix. If you think about it, it was that action which ultimately enabled the count to be defeated. Without Jonathan making it out alive and able to provide the crucial information about who Dracula was and where he came from, I doubt Van Helsing et al would have been able to track him down. Considering how many generations of the locals Dracula had oppressed and terrorized, I am very glad that one of them was able to have a role in his downfall.

Everything Old is New Again

Hey - I'm Ely. I'm not-quite-fleeing Twitter; Twitter built my career and I'll be there until the end of time, but Tumblr was my first real social media love (and you'll pry that username information from my cold, dead hands).

A long time ago, I started writing about fiction podcasts on Twitter and people... cared about it?

I started a fiction podcast-focused newsletter called Audio Dramatic and essentially launched into my career as a podcast critic at a time when if you said those words, everyone just kind of looked at you funny (jk they still look at me funny). I wrote for a bunch of audio-focused outlets, most of which have now shuttered. I fought with a lot of people about the value, style, history, and future of criticism in audio. I screamed my way through every single piece of podcast industry nonsense you can imagine. I became the host of Radio Drama Revival, a podcast that's been running since 2007 (when it was on the literal radio) dedicated solely to fiction podcasts and their creators.

I burned myself out in late 2019 and spent effectively 2 years trying to scrimp by as a very disabled freelancer.

Now I'm the content and communications manager at Simplecast -- effectively, I'm the managing editor for the blog and I'm using it to create a platform for podcasters and for podcast audiences, written by fairly paid creators and critics. (I am still fighting and screaming.)

I wouldn't have gotten here without fiction podcast creators, nor fiction podcast audiences. The time has come again for me to engage, myself, not through Simplecast (though I'll probably brag about how great my writers are, lbr).

So - looking forward to my Tumblr being as messy as my Twitter, where I talk about podcasts, yell about injustice, share resources about all of it, and also get really weird.
