it was quite obvious he was staring at you as you strutted your way to your office desk, carrying a small stack of papers that you’d just printed out.

and also quite obvious was the fact that he didn’t even mean to make it so noticeable.

having this knowledge, you decided to steal a glance his way. and boy, did he get flustered easily. admittedly, it was cute. what was even cuter, was the small letter he left you on a handy post-it note, stuck to your desk. who could’ve guessed, your stoic-faced co-worker kento nanami could’ve been so…

wholesome?

granted, he’s had a few interactions with you, each and every one resulting in making both of your days a little better, relieving the pestering stress as much as it can.

“kento!”

and oh, when you call his name like that?

game over. when was the last time he drank water? he feels parched. he cleared his throat, turning his head toward your figure.

“you’ve read my note, i see.” he cocks his head briefly to the post it your hand was clutching onto, before looking up and keeping eye contact with you. the eye contact, of course, only made the pink dust across his face even more painful. but he can’t be rude, right?

“yeah!” you start out, shifting your stance, “i came here to say that i’d love to. you could’ve just asked me to my face, y’know?”

this comment made him internally scream, and almost face palm. well, yes, he could’ve, but how would you accept a date offer from a man who looks like he might combust into tiny pieces, right in front of you? then again, you’re right.

“oh, yes, my apologies. i meant to, but i got a call as soon as i slipped that note over to your space. again, i deeply apologize.”

“it’s not a problem at all. i get it,” you stick the post-it in your shoulder-slung bag, “where were you thinking? and when?”

and the way you were just standing there, existing, almost sent him off the rails. how could you be this perfect? “i was thinking saturday at 4PM, the bakery down the street. if you’re free, and you’re still up to it of course?”

you nodded in response, lips thinned into the most heartwarming smile the salaryman had ever seen in his entire life.

“good, good. so, it’s a date then?” he grinned, accomplished, as he flung his work bag over his shoulder, fixing his yellow tie with the opposite hand.

“it’s a date.”
