I respect art and artists because of course I do, they make life worth living, but I think a lot of people who talk about art on here need to disabuse themselves that "artist" is a born-with quality, that they are able to make art because they have a uniquely deep and expressive soul, as opposed to the cold automatons who can do nothing but take and consume. I have seen a lot of people start to talk like this when deriding their opponents in the "AI art" conversation, and regardless of your opinions about that, it is bunk. It's an egocentric ideology that preys upon the innate desire of every human to believe that they are a special and unique soul, more able to experience life and the world than the faceless masses around them.

I assure you this is not true. Every single human being on this planet has exactly the same amount of truth and light and poetry in their soul as any of your favourite artists. To feel and to know is the human experience, and this is true even if somebody sits in an office all day and never has the ability, inclination or time to create in their entire life. Their experience is just as true and important, even if they can't express it.
