New Shtufff!
New Shtufff!
Haven’t updated the ol’ website for a spell so here are a bunch of random pieces I’ve done recently.
I had a lot of Love Toon orders from my Valentine’s Sale. Here are a few of them. The zombie one was my favorite to draw. (I’ve never drawn a zombie before. Isn’t that weird?) More after the jump. (more…)

Want to pre-order SHUTTER #1? Then just print out this handy PDF and hand it to your local comic book shop no later than March 17th, to ensure you get a copy on April 9th!
Want to know more about SHUTTER #1? I want to tell you more about SHUTTER #1. Let’s talk.
First, here’s Leila and me talking about it with our pal Casey Gilly over at Comic Book Resources, featuring a THEN EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW, fresh out of the I Is For Image Preview Book (which is free right now!).
SHUTTER, the new Image Comics-published ongoing series drawn by Leila del Duca, colored by Owen Gieni, written by this dude right here (Joe Keatinge) and lettered by Ed Brisson, featuring a trade dress designed by Super Graphic’s Tim Leong is an ongoing series mixing up everything Leila and I love about… well, basically everything — Planet Earth. International travel. Intergalactic travel. Science fiction. Science fact. Giant monsters. Robot cats. Real life explorers. Fake life explorers. The multiverse. Lions in pinstriped suits carrying giant guns. Ninja ghosts. A whole lot more. — all told from the perspective of Kate Kristopher, who used to be the world’s most famous explorer until she quit for reasons no one else understands, until a family secret draws her back in the life she fought hard to leave behind.
Like, well, Every Image Book, SHUTTER only exists because Leila and I created this world together in whole cloth, because it’s something we’re extremely passionate about getting out there, because we have the opportunity to tell the story in the medium we love above all others. That said, it’s just us, Owen, Ed, Tim and the folks at Image.
You hear this a lot, but it’s because it’s so damn true — pre-orders are the life blood of a comic book. We would appreciate your pre-orders if you’re down. If you are down, thank you for being wonderful.
Right now Leila’s working on issue 5. I’m working on issue 6. We’ve got a lot in the can, ensuring this thing will come out on time. Further, we’ll be taking on the model SAGA has — where we’ll take a break at the end of an arc, followed by the trade, followed by the next arc — to ensure we keep the pace. I’ve had books with me name on them be late and am not happy about it, so I’m ensuring as best I can that it doesn’t happen again, especially with SHUTTER. We’ve got a lot in the can. I hope you dig it all.
As you can see there are four variant covers. Leila’s is out there. Other websites will be featuring the other ones by AVENGERS’ Dustin Weaver, PRETTY DEADLY’s Emma Rios and PROPHET’s Brandon Graham. ALL IN DUE TIME. There’s no weird ratio or secret to getting the ones you want. Just order them in the quantity you desire. Easy peasy.
And here are some thoughts by folks whose comics you dig!
"SHUTTER is bold, smart fun — a stunning book on every front. Keatinge and del Duca have crafted something special — at once intimate and epic."
- Scott Snyder (Batman, The Wake, Wytches)
"Joyous and Heartfelt science-fiction pop with all the capital-R Romance of the last roll of polaroid film on Earth."
- Kieron Gillen (Young Avengers, The Wicked + The Divine)
For now — if you have any questions, feel free to hit me up on here, Twitter, or Facebook. Leila has a Tumblr too here and a Twitter there. Here’s Owen’s Twitter. Here’s Ed’s. Here’s Tim’s. Here’s True Detective’s Nic Pizzolatto’s.
And if you are a retailer or member of the press, feel free to hit me up for a review PDF!
GOODBYE FOR NOW!
