Madplaidlad - Welcome To This Monstrosity - Tumblr Blog
some of y'all need to learn how to accept hospitality. stop assuming people are only offering to look after you out of twisted obligation that they don't actually want to do. when you assume that, you are often denying someone the opportunity to genuinely show a friend or stranger love. even if you don't really care about what they're offering, it's respectful of their desire to be kind to accept it anyways.
i had a bunch of girls i've never met over for a women's group. every single one of them denied my offer to make them tea (despite already making myself a mug anyways), get them water, a scone, etc.
i can tell when people refuse to let me be a good host because they "don't want to be a bother". like no!! please be a bother!!! i want to serve you and make you comfortable in my home!
not to be like "we live in a society" but really do live in a modern culture than emphasizes individualism to the point where people will reflexively deny any help or kindness from others for fear of treading on their independence. newsflash: dependence on each other is what makes a community. next time someone offers you kindness, accept it instead of making excuses for why you don't need it. otherwise you've robbed both yourself of being loved and someone else from showing love.

DUNGEON MESHI OST ART I OWE YOU MY LIFE
"Have you cut window bars before professor"
"What are you friend John a nark. Anyway help me with these pliers."
Asdfghjk YES EXACTLY
Who's to say it wasn't in the original manuscript??

My adaptation of the God of Arepo short story, which was originally up at ShortBox Comics Fair for charity. You can get a copy of the DRM-free ebook here for free - and I'd encourage you to donate to Mighty Writers or The Ministry of Stories in exchange.
Again it's an honour to be drawing one of my favourite short stories ever. Thank you so much for the original authors for creating this story; and for everyone who bought a copy and donated to the above non-profits.
jonmina even have another shipping tag now too, 'holiest love'
i like holiest love. i jsut want want those two crazy kids to be happy………….
do the kids still say crew of light.
How fucking annoying is it when you feel so restless with creative energy but you can’t decide what to do with it and when you finally try to create something it comes out shit so you just give up and sit there being all creatively annoyed and jittery.
I love Lucy's discussion of Quincey speaking American slang in today's Dracula, so much. There's so much to love about it!
The claim that Quincey only speaks slang to please her when usually he has "exquisite manners", when, for the rest of the book we only hear him speak in his Very Cowboy Way. (I wonder if perhaps he was only speaking "politely" for her sake, and dropped it when he realized how it delighted her).
Lucy going "I do not know myself if I shall ever speak slang; I do not know if Arthur likes it, as I have never heard him use any as yet." Which is delightful for several reasons:
Being besties with Quincey definitely means Art is no stranger to slang, even if he doesn't use it himself
Can you imagine?? Lucy trying to talk American slang the way Quincey does? Putting on that Cowboy attitude? Especially when she thinks all of it is probably made up and would make up her own?? This would be PRECIOUS.
Please compare with me!
Quincey, May 24: "Don't cry, my dear. If it's for me, I'm a hard nut to crack; and I take it standing up."
Lucy, May 11: "He has a curious habit of looking one straight in the face, as if trying to read one's thoughts. He tries this on very much with me, but I flatter myself he has got a tough nut to crack. I know that from my glass."
Now idk the origin of the phrase "hard/tough nut to crack" (online dictionaries are telling me "the 1700s" with no location given) so idk if that truly counts as American Slang for Lucy's purposes BUT
Looks like she has already been picking up some phrases from him :D
the fact Mina curates this story is really hitting me this time around. Just thinking about her putting everything together … Jonathan’s journals and her own diary and typing up Seward’s recordings. How her fingers linger on these letters between her and Lucy. Simpler times. Of her own worries of Jonathan being away when she thought there was nothing to worry about except distance. Of Lucy’s overwhelming joy and the innocent frivolity that made her so lovable. The excitement they shared to meet in Whitby, to discuss love and life in person, wrapped up in the friendship they’ve shared since they were little girls. And she wonders what’s necessary to put into this account. But these letters show who Lucy was before. A glimpse of what they were and what life was prior to the descent into horror. And that’s so important to remember after the dust settles. We all start somewhere. Some on a train going west to east for a business trip. Others in a letter of three suitors and a girl who loved them all.
Dracula and Jonathan’s Tango - from The Polish National Opera production of ‘Dracula’.
With Choreography by Krzysztof Pastor and Music by Wojciech Kilar.
I finished Attack on Titan a few days ago and it made me so incredibly upset that I’ve spent the days since finishing wondering how things could’ve turned out differently and I’ve decided that the only thing that could’ve saved Eren would be if he were lactose intolerant. Mans would never try to be a god if he were shitting himself after every sip of milk
WWC’s A Beginner’s Guide to Academic Research
We are pleased to present WWC’s A Beginner’s Guide to Academic Research!
This pandemic project has been over 2 years in the making and we hope it will greatly assist any of our readers who are eager to conduct in-depth research but may be at a loss where to start.
Go to the Guide Here
The guide is split into 6 parts:
Introduction and Table of Contents
Part 1: Getting Started
Part 2: Searching for Sources Online
Part 3: Evaluating Sources
Part 4: Navigating Academic Sources
Part 5: Recognizing Your Limits
Each portion of the guide has links to connect to the previous and next sections. While it is possible to view tumblr pages on phones and tablets through the app, we highly recommend viewing this guide via browser on desktop whenever possible. Tumblr page formatting is better suited for browsers and each section is very dense with information, which will make scrolling in the app or on your dashboard difficult.
Future FAQ/ Discussion:
As noted in part 5 of the guide, for the next two weeks, we will be keeping an eye on the notes for this post. If you have further questions or comments about academic research, drop them here and we will select the most pertinent to respond to in a later post.
If you find this guide helpful, we request that you consider tipping the moderators below for the work and time required from conception, to drafting, formatting and debugging. Their ko-fis are listed below:

I must sleep. Sleep is the mind-healer. Sleep is the big-life that brings total ability to fucking do anything. I will face my bed. I will permit the blankie to pass over me and snores to pass through me. And when sleep has gone past I will turn the outer eye to greet the new morning. When the sleep has gone there will be everything. Energy and will to live will remain.
I want to write a book called “your character dies in the woods” that details all the pitfalls and dangers of being out on the road & in the wild for people without outdoors/wilderness experience bc I cannot keep reading narratives brush over life threatening conditions like nothing is happening.
I just read a book by one of my favorite authors whose plots are essentially airtight, but the MC was walking on a country road on a cold winter night and she was knocked down and fell into a drainage ditch covered in ice, broke through and got covered in icy mud and water.
Then she had a “miserable” 3 more miles to walk to the inn.
Babes she would not MAKE it to that inn.
i love you libraries i love you overdrive i love you libby i love you free and accessible audiobooks i love you listening to books at 2x speed for $0 while walking around in circles or cleaning or creating scrumptious little handicrafts
